Picked up a ticwatch E last sale - very happy with it..

    • Have to charge it every day?

      • Yes. It can happily last all day. I have about 50% left by the time i get home (with GPS off). I just stick it on charge at bed time with the rest of my electronics

        • Would it charge quickly enough to only do it while in the shower? That way you can get the sleep tracking also.

        • +1

@CaffeinatedTech: It does charge quickly. May be about 30 mins from 0%. I also use mine for sleep tracking. I charge 30 mins before bed (so its 100%). Sleep with it on. In the morning there is about 70% left (i turn off screen activation). Bang it on charge, when in shower. 10 mins later %100 again.

        • @jackwoz:what app do you use for sleep tracking? any suggestions please?

        • @gadgetfreak28: I pretty sure 'sleep as android' is the best, but then again i havent tried any others

        • @jackwoz: Thanks. I'll give it a go. Cheers.

do you have to charge it in every day, I have moto 360 2nd and needs to charge in every day and sick of it, thanks.

      • Wow do you use it to do a lot? I have my gear s2 monitor heart rate/do notifications etc and it lasts 2-3 days.

      • i have the moto 360 and its sat in the drawer since it was 6months old due to charging it daily…. got the gf the garmin vivoactive 3 and thats a once a week charge with all these features and more but at an extra cost.. 350

  • Yep, but i can't sleep with a watchband on anyway so not much of a problem for me

A few times i haven't and it's still got 50% charge next morning.

I do wish you could get cheaper charging cables for it, sometimes i travel for work and usually forget to bring the watch cable. A second one would be good.

  • The ticwatches are the closest thing I've seen to "tic" all my boxes, however the lack of NFC holds me off from buying one. I'm sure months down the track I will regret not being able to make payments from a watch.

    • I have Ticwatch S and love it, get about a day and half battery life out of it.

NFC isn't a biggie for me because I wear a payment ring on my finger from my bank. Which ends up being faster than Google Pay. If that's what you're looking to use the NFC for ..

      • Wow I'm out of the times, didn't realise they were a thing (until doing some quick research).

I guess thats an option, when it becomes mainstream.

Definately considering the Ticwatch S Knight tho…

        • Yeha only BankWest does it over here in the west, but other banks might do it. It's a good watch plenty zippy does lag a bit at time but nothing detrimental. Getting Oreo at some point too

  • Buyer beware about this one. I bought mine and they gave me the whole run around. I never received my watch at all. Such a dodgy company. Never again!

  • The Ticwatch S's price of $250 excludes the 20% discount yeh? Coming down to $200 incl postage.

    • Ticwatch S (Sport) = approx AUD203. Not bad!

  • +2

Op you might want to give some example pricing in the description.

    • Good point, will do!

  • Can someone please tell me what the supplied band length is. Will it fit my 210mm wrist?

    • Ticwatch E: Strap Size 20mm115mm, 20mm75mm
      Ticwatch S: Strap Size 22mm118mm, 22mm75mm

      • Also, you can replace the E strap (S is fixed to watch) - as shown it's a standard 20 mm band, and the original strap is quick release.

Any Pebble owners with experience with Ticwatch?

Have a Pebble Time Round, and looking for an alternative once my once dies

    • Im using Pebble Time at the moment, display is dying (nearly faded away). Still deciding whether to get one now or wait for the 2nd gen. Personally I'm not a big fan of charging my watch everyday but then again that's the reality with Wear OS at the moment.

I went from a Pebble Steel to the Ticwatch E and while it's plenty feature rich, I kind of miss my Pebble.

I've found the fitness stuff (especially the HR monitor) on the Ticwatch to be a bit crap. Everything else is good once you get used to charging every night

      • I've gone from an original Kickstarter Pebble to a Kickstarter TicWatch E. A lot of things I preferred about the Pebble, but generally the Tic E is better IMHO. Both similar prices, but I do miss the battery life of the Pebble. Doesn't look like smart watches are going to get 3+ days battery life anymore, you'll need something more like a fitbit/garmin for that.

    • +1

Yep, used a Pebble Time for years before moving to the Ticwatch E. Don't miss the Pebble aside from the lack of a few smart home apps and the battery life (this needs daily charges). Android Wear feels far more polished than PebbleOS.

Grabbed a Ticwatch S the other day and so far it's been great. I bought it to check and respond to messages while I'm at work and to track workouts, it's also come in useful for monitoring my sleep with the Sleep as Android app.

You wont get much more than a day of battery life out of it, so avoid it if that's going to be an issue for you. However it does charge pretty quickly.

I wasn't a fan of the faces it came with, threw some of these on and it looks great!

My 1st Gen Moto 360 broke down so i had been looking at a replacement.

TBH, i found having to charge it every day pretty annoying.

I've since moved to a Xiaomi Amazfit Bip.

It lacks a lot of functionality of WearOS but it does give me what i want:
    - time
    - notifications from phone
    - fitness monitor (heart and steps)

It has integration with other apps but i dont make use of them (sleep i think?)

I can also use the button to trigger Assistant or play music from my phone while in the car.

Best of all it lasts 3.5 weeks between charges.

  • Are any of these water resistant? IP68 or better?

    • Have a look at their website, all the spec details are listed there.

      • Yes good point. Max is IP67 for the S&E so not waterproof.

  • Anyone have experience using these with an iPhone? Any connection issues etc?

  • +1

Note that the Ticwatch 2 (Active and Classic) doesn't run Wear OS (by Google). Only the Ticwatch S and E do as far as I can tell.

  • +1

I reviewed the Ticwatch E on my site and absolutely love it, replacing my Pebble. Only thing I hate is the plastic frame. It's plenty durable but looks a bit cheap. Also, no ambient light sensor is disappointing as I find myself just leaving the brightness on max which drains the battery faster.

    • Ambient light sensors are overrated. The one on my moto360 is pretty sketchy.

  • +1

Thanks OP! Was thinking of the misfit but the s/s version isn't available locally.Cheapest wear OS watch AFAIK.

    • No worries. I've posted the same thing on the NZ version of this website (ChoiceCheapies) and I only got 3 votes lol

  • +1

I got the S version. 100% overnight 90% this morning went for my morning walk with music paired to my ticpod. Down to 50% battery.

    • Wow, the battery does go quick!

      • +1

I've found battery life to be very dependant on connection to phone. When my watch battery suffers, so does my phone's. Of course active apps, e.g. Fitness + sensors, takes it's toll too.

        • Thanks for the feedback @saimone and @norkle.
