Telstra Entertainment Bundle $100 Welcome Credit ($99/Month, Unlimited Use, Cable Speed 50/5 + Foxtel Now - 24 Month Contract)

60

Found this when looking to move my home cable connection from Optus to Telstra. Clicked through a link from "My Account" (I have a Telstra mobile already), but the link included above appears to work just fine. Conditions simply say "$100 Welcome credit for new customers".

If you're looking to move to Telstra to take advantage of the fancy new cable speeds and unlimited plans then why not get $100 off too??

I went for the $99/month Entertainment bundle and my welcome credit was automatically applied to the connection fee of $99. The $100 welcome credit looked like it also applied to the $69 and $129 per month bundles too.

Rep on chat confirmed speeds of 50/5. No other discounts offered.

You would have to be one of a very, very limited subset of people in Australia with access to both Optus and Telstra cable in your street.

  • Looking to move from Belong ADSL2+ to Telstra cable. Did the $100 credit apply to the $79 plan? I'm not an existing telstra customer, so i might just ask the rep for the $100 credit.

    • @XyCo it didn't seem to apply to the $79 offer.

Here is the screenshot I took:

You should be able to get the $99 install fee waived. I called up the other day and got $79 24month plan with the $99 fee waived.

They should be waving the installation fee anyway for a contract

    • I called up last night and was able to negotiate a $100 credit for the $79 plan (new customer). They said it was only meant for the $99 plan and above though.

  • Works out to be a discount of $4.16 over the life of the contract. Sure, its a deal but I don't think it's a very good one, especially at 50/5
I would want quite a bit more for a contract. $80 sounds alright at 100mbps

      Do you mean 4.16%?

For the $99 package you should ask for free premium speedboost in addition.

      • +2

        Can confirm, I got this.

        • Would be tempted to jump ship from Optus if I can get this free speed boost. Did you get welcome credit too or just the free speed boost?

Does anyone know if this speed boost would carry over and still be active if the connection is switched to HFC NBN in future?

        • @kunfushun:
No welcome credit, I was already a customer, got a new contract as my old cable modem packed it up and didn't want to pay for another. I already paid for speed boost on the old plan. Basically $5 less a month and got a telstra tv 2 as well.

        • @dibbz:

Ah nice, I was able to get free speed boost and $100 credit on the $99/month entertainment bundle. I told them I was a previous customer but no current services with them.

No success via several online chats throughout the week and my first call wouldnt budge and only offered what was on the website (no welcome credit as this ozbargain deal) but my 2nd call with another sales rep was able to give me the above.

        • @dibbz: were you able to find the list if channel from the 1 choice we have for the foxtel now…. Trying tk compare the channels with iinet fetch tv

      • How did you guys get this? Did you guys go to the store? or online reps?

Need a new provider due to buzz telco shutting down :/

        • On the phone. If you have any existing service with Telstra its easier as you can go to disconnections team but just be upfront about what you want cos its not a big ask.

  • They now offer $200 wecome credits if you ask nicely, and if you're even nicer you might get a plan discount or free add-ons (though don't expect unlimited with speed boost for $90/month and $200 credit).

    • This is even better! How did you get this deal? Online reps?

      • That's what I've read on Whirlpool. Try it on their online chat, see what you can get.

Failing that, try the same thing at a Telstra store, as the salespeople will appreciate a quick sale.

  • This should probably be marked as targeted - even following the OP’s link, it doesn’t come up for me.

I already signed up on the weekend to the $79 plan (still not connected though) - what are the chances of them offering me a credit now, do you think?

      Slim

  • I got similar deal but with free IQ3, free Foxtel (not Foxtel now) and free calls for $99. No welcome credit though.
Getting 57/5 speeds most of the time.

    Hope NBN gets further delays..,

    • They don't offer that anymore

      • It was not one of their standard offers.

It was offered to me as remediation after a complaint.

  • Does foxtel now box allow recording free to air TV?

    • You can't record on the Telstra TV as far as I can tell…

It does have all the 'catch-up' channel apps though for free to air TV.

  • For those getting these extra offers, do you currently have an existing service with Telstra? Foxtel, mobile etc?

  • On the phone now and finalising. I was able to get on $99/month entertainment bundle free speed boost and $100 credit.

My first call wouldn't budge and offer me anything other than what was on the website already but success with the 2nd caller.

No luck across several days of trying via Online Chat.

    • I tried 3 time today. All failed. Any tips?

      • I think it's really just luck of the draw if your rep is feeling nice.

  • I tried twice, the first time where the person told me the $100 had expired even though it is showing in my account as current. I tried again but they would not budge on any extras. The speed offered to me was 50/1 which is pretty painful for putting stuff in the cloud.

I almost bit but I'm glad I didn't. As soon as Telstra gets you onto a contract, you can kiss any customer service goodbye for the next 2 years.

  • tried today for $99 or $129 deal plus $200 welcome credit and speed boost but no luck.

the live chat person advised 'live sales' is the team you need for these deals.

I'll try telstra stored in sydney cbd.

also forgot to say casherewards has $95 cash back if you can do this online.

    • Were you able to get this from the Sydney CBD store? Looking for this $100 (or $200) welcome credit too
