Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card - Up to 60,000 Bonus Velocity Points - $129 Virgin Voucher and 50% off Annual Fee $64

130

Heading explains itself, given the half price annual fee you are already ahead by just claiming the voucher. Bonus point minimum spend is drawn out ($1,500 per month for 3 months to get the 60k) but the monthly threshold itself is achievable for most and if you only get 2 out of 3 months you still get 20k per month that you hit the threshold (so 40k etc.)

It isn't the points deal of the century, but if you are accumulating points most of you wouldn't have applied for a card through Virgin Money before!

Seems like a repeat of this deal from Jan this year -> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/354054

So if you're like me where a huge sum of your spend is going towards government payments, etc, then think twice before signing up.

  • Be aware if you balance transfer with this card they will charge daily interest on purchases

    • Can you please clarify what you mean by this please?

Finder recently had a half price annual fee for the life of the card deal…

That’s right, just got mine in the post and it’s actually a great deal for $50 annual fee for life and $0 for additional cardholders. Just waiting for them to activate Apple Pay (as Citibank is the issuer), I just activated my Citibank card with Apple Pay.

    • could you please share the link to apply? I couldn't find on finder website. Thanks.

eidt: no worries, I found it.

  • Yeah my partner and I signed up to this a couple of days ago. It’s not amazing but it’s a good easy points booster.

Just buy Westfield prepaid visa card of 1.5k per month for next three months and you can get the points. I am sure you can pay government fees with prepaid visa cards right? Only downside is you have to pay 5 bux for fee when getting the pre paid visa card.

    • you mean eftpos card? they don't sell visa. btw get the red card only $2.95 worked everywhere for me using eftpos

The 120k points on the High Flyer card is really good. I think I'll go for that. That's almost a return flight (excluding taxes) to the UK.

    • $289 fee
Though I suppose that's a cheap flight to the UK

    • But what to spend $9k on?

      • +1

Accommodation for the trip you’ll be going on with the points.

    • Hasn’t that deal expired?

      • No, https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Specials/Credi…

I have the high flyer myself. I find it that certain sites e.g pointshack would have it for 105k, who would get a referral kickback. But applying yourself using my link above gets you 120k.

That's why I only use that site as a guide and do my own research. I've noticed that alot of people on this site would think what pointshack say as gospel. They have their own agenda to make a sale.

        • Oh wow didn’t know that offer got extended. Thanks heaps.

  • 120k is massive, but income requirement is too high for me.

  • I applied for 120 k points and on my status it said Conditionally approved.

Should I expect my card soon or they will be calling to check details ?

  • What is some good things to spend on to get over 1500

Will worthworhs e-gift cards do the trick?

    Any other tricks?

  • So because I already have a velocity account I don't qualify. Bugger

  • This may be a silly question, but is anyone aware whether or not payments made for rent on this card via DEFT would count towards the minimum monthly spend of $1500?

    • For anybody wondering, yes, DEFT payments, at least the ones i am making to my real estate agency for rent, do count. I rang Virgin and they verified this for me.

  • How long does it take to get the voucher?
