Quick question- does this mean items have to be both listed and sold between 01/05 - 05/05?

    • +7

Items only need to be listed between 1-4 May, they can sell whenever.

So, if you choose a 30 day listing, you'll have 30 days to sell under the promotion.

    • +2

They can sell after the promotion ends but if they don’t sell and are automatically resisted you will be charged fees after that.

      • Relisted

        • +4

I always untick the 'relist automatically' option so that's a way to help avoid that!

        • @aragornelessar: Great call…i do that as well..i list things because it's free to sell, but not in a hurry to sell, so i just untick and wait for the next campaign.

    Excellent news, thank you!

Thanks OP. Can I ask where do you find about these ‘promotional offers’ please? Did you subscribe to any ebay newsletters?

    • +12

Jack works for eBay in the headphones department.

      • haha

  • Unlimited listings? The last few similar offers have been limited to 3 items.

  • This offer is still running I believe.. I listed last week and sold an item without being charged a fee.. Except for PayPal after the sell.

  • +1

“Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.”

Not to worry, I’ve just created an online store on my website, just need to work on google hits and redirecting people there.

  • I havent used ebay to sell things before. Does this mean there is no fee for ebay at all. Only paypal? Whats the % that paypal takes?

Is there such thing as collect in person or does everything have to be by post?

What does it mean in one category?

    • +2

You really are new to this…

PayPal fee is minimal, eBay's is around 11%.

You can offer local Pickup only.

One category is one category :) you only list the item in one area, rather than spamming other areas.

    • +3

      From memory PayPal is 2.6% + 30c.

    • +6

Since you are new to feeBay selling. A few things:

      • Avoid selling digital items, vouchers - i.e. items where you just post a code via e-mail (quite a lot of dodgy buyers and hackers out there). Vouchers and gift cards are most certainly excluded from this (as they carry high risks).
      • If possible, use trackable postage service. Otherwise, if things gone pear shaped, be prepared to lose the item and not get paid (and losing the postage).
      • Collect in person, make sure you get a confirmation from the buyer that will be approved by eBay/PayPal if there is a dispute (especially if the buyer elected to use PayPal).
      • eBay expect you to provide quality after sale service if required
      • You will most likely be limited to 10 items and up to $500 in total. That's eBay's way to prevent you from listing 100 iPhone X's and run away with the money and never deliver the items.

Also, don't over advertise your items and remember that buyers are used to online transactions and the expectations are quite high nowadays. Unless you exceed expectation, getting a positive feedback from a reasonably good, trouble free sale is getting less and less likely.

        trackable postage

Trackable doesn't necessarily protect you, tracking must show delivery to buyer's postcode/suburb.

For high value items I would suggest signature.

Collect in person, make sure you get a confirmation from the buyer that will be approved by eBay/PayPal if there is a dispute

No such thing, the only way to protect yourself with pick up is cash.

        • Pick up cash and in public place

      • Thanks good tips

  • Actually worked. Thanks

  • anyone know whether I will be charged listing / final value fees if I schedule the listing to start on 1st May?

Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.

    :’(

    • you dont need a offer to join up for the free listings…have your ebay account opened and signed in on your browser and also this page opened in another tab in the same browser and then click on go to deal and then click accept
      Worked for all my accounts

      • It worked for me on the same day (30/4) but today when I went to the link again, it says "Unfortunately, this promotional offer is not available to you.". So better double check before you list the item.

  • +3

Excellent. Worked for me. Just in time now they have dropped the $1 Sunday deal. Have heaps to re-list.

  • When the first time I login ozbargain I found this deal I need on the front page, thanks posting.

    • +6

Ozbargain upvote welcome to forget you must not.

    • +1

Thank thee in logging bargain deal on page front.

  • How strange… "Unfortunately, you can no longer sign up for this promotional offer because it has expired."
    Anyone else get that message?

EDIT: Isn't listed in my promos so missed out this time. :(

  • Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only. No love by eBay

  • How do yo know if this applies to you?

    • +2

Login to your eBay account. Then, click on the link posted on this deal (you can click on Go to Deal button or the thumbnail image above). After that, you should be presented a page with a button to accept the deal or an Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only message.

Ever get the feeling you're repeating yourself?

  • +1

Sweet. Been a while since they had another one of these.

I noticed they got rid of the Sunday $1 final fees too.

  • Bonus! Worked for me.

  • Anybody know if this would work by creating a new account using a different email?

Never get these promos despite having an account for over 10 years, having a decent reputation as a seller and always paying my fees!

    • +1

You have to subscribe via your account to receive targeted offers.

      • Thanks Scab. I can see that I have "40 Free Fixed Price & Auction Listings."

I'm sure I still get charged a final value fee with this. No other option I can see to activate additional offers.

        • Click on the link in this deal and it should take you to the place to accept the deal if it's available for you. I don't receive some of the emails but I can accept some of the offers.

        • You can only get targeted offers by subscribing.

And I never said anything about free listings.

        • @Scab: misread sorry

  • +1

    Cheers OP :)

  • I have this promo instead. Anyone else got it?

eBay's Promoted Listings Lite Launch Promotion!
$10 voucher when you list and sell an item with Promoted Listings Lite. T&Cs apply.
    Starts 29 AprEnds 23 May

  • Good idea to screenshot the acceptance page and the promo's activation in your seller panel!

  • Weird. When I click the link it doesn't take me to the usual page that shows the promotion and an "accept" button. It says "You've already accepted the ofer "$0 Insertion & Final Value Fees" " .. yet I haven't clicked to accept anything and it's not showing under Promotions on my selling page.

    • +1

It's not appearing in the seller dashboard yet, most likely due to the start date is 1/5/2018.
Wait till 1/5 and we should be able to see it and use it.

  • Worked for my "low activitry" account but not for my regular "high activity" account.

  • +1

you dont need a offer to join up for the free listings…have your ebay account opened and signed in on your browser and also this page opened in another tab in the same browser and then click on go to deal and then click accept

    • Doesn't work for all accounts.

Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only.

      • worked with mine and i had no invite

        • I think the emails will be sent out a bit later.

  • I had no official invite, looks like it's worked for me.

    • You'll probably get one in your inbox when the promo starts.

      • Nope, nothing yet.

  • How can you tell if it's worked? I get a page saying I have signed up for the promotion but on my selling page there's nothing showing the offer - ie usually you see a line saying how many FVF free listings you have left, etc.

Is it just because it's not active until tomorrow so I should see it then in My Selling Summary?

    • +1

Correct. The offer will appear under your promos once it’s active.

  • The promotion only applies to listings in one category. If you add an additional category to your listings, Insertion Fees (and other applicable fees) will apply for the additional category.

Does that means I can only list 1 item, say laptop without any final fee but if I listed an item, such as shoes then the fee will be applied to it?

    • If you list a laptop and shoes the promotion will apply to both listings. However, each individual listing can only be listed in one category. e.g you can't list the laptop under both a 'computing' category and a 'business' category. If you do, fees will apply for listing in the second 'business' category.

  • Does this offer force you to list for 6 days?
I cant seem to reduce the duration.

    • You have the option to list for 3, 5, 7, 10 or 30 days.

  • If you find your product isn't being viewed many times and you have something else to sell, you can edit post and completely change the whole listing (images, title, contents, etc) to avoid fees after the promotional period.

  • I've just listed a mobile phone by following the link as provided (which clearly stated no fees), yet when I posted the ad, it stated that fees may be applicable.

    Anyone in the same boat?

EDIT: Never mind, there is a '$0' next to fees at the bottom of the ad.

  • I have accepted the offer but it says "Used 0 Left 0" and I still get the warning a the bottom of my listing creation page that " List it for free. A Learn more about final value fees. final value fee applies when your item sells". I only have it listed in 1 category. Anyone else getting this?

    • +2

If you list it, does it increase from Used 0 to 1? Also check you satisfy the other T&Cs - eg single item only

      • Yep it did and the item number matches my listing. Cheers.
