  • The free version of Macrium Reflect works really well too.

  • Thanks, worked for me!

  • I'm using Crashplan atm. Is this much different from it?

    Really want Partition Master Pro!

  • Thanks OP - worked.

  • Does it support file synchronisation? Or is it just a disk backup utility?

Any recommendations for file synchronisation software (desktop drive to external drive) for PC?

    • R-sync is probably what you're looking for. Yadis is simpler but very limited if you want a quick fix.

Thanks, this is a great backup software.

  • Thanks OP - Perfect timing as I was thinking I should backup my PC soon and just bought an external hard drive.

  • Thanks OP, the following in no way criticises your posting -

HEADSUP - prog offers the ability to create (note there are multiple choices, this is one of them) a USB based Win PE emergency boot disk. Firstly all contents of the USB will be wiped by the process (no problem with that. Expected it and you are warned as part of the process). Secondly, and what I didn't know and there is NO WARNING,…..Windows has a preset upper limit for a bootable drive of 32GB and must be FAT32- your USB will be formatted to show as a 32GB drive with any space above that becoming unallocated and thus invisible ie my NTFS 120GB USB became a FAT32 32GB USB……..am now going to try and partition the USB into 1GB where the boot lives and 119 GB to get my space back. Errrrrrrk- (from Wikihow)
"While you can use third-party tools to make a multi-partition thumb drive, Windows will only ever be able to read from the first partition. You can use the same tools to change which partition is visible, but only one will be visible at a time. There is no way around this in Windows."
