      MIUI's file manager used to be able to find network shares. Shame they don't do that anymore. Does ES File Explorer do network shares?

        ES does do network shares, including FTP, however I found that in folders with a large amount of files, it wouldn't see them all. Was kinda weird. I switched to Solid Explorer - also sees network shares (and all files in them) plus i prefer the UI over ES.

      Older version used to be great (circa 4.0.2.8) but I find later versions have too many ads.
      I'm going to try this software out to see if it is a better option.

        Same - too many ads in the new ES Explorer.
        I installed an old version of ES Explorer Version 1.0.9 pro or v3 (not v4 for Free version) and don't let it autoupdate.

    I've had a play around with this app now and from what I can see you can't actually access files in your LAN from the app itself. What you can do is send files to the app from a PC by entering a HTTP address for the app into a browser.
    In this regard then an old version of ES File Explorer is way better.
