    Thanks OzSikh

That's a very good price, if I hadn't bought a new phone a few months ago, this would be very tempting.

So far I am very impressed with Xiaomi phones

Agree, they are great bang for the bucks !!

I knew it was you banging last night.

        • +2

          @xev: I accidentally clicked it😳….

if you used Wish GC to buy Catch GCs + cashrewards, it should be $180-190.

      • From memory, coles does not allow buying GC using another GC.

Wish gives 5% discount to buy Woolies Gc to buy Catch GC (does wollie allow to buy Gc using WISH GC ?
        cashrewards gives 2.5% discount

How will it come down to ~$190 ?

        • cashrewards gives 2.5% discount

Cashrewards are not paid, if you use GCs as a payment method.

      • I tried in 2 different Woolies with no joy. It does not allow to buy gift cards using Wish GC.

  • +1

Hmm, misses Note 4 or Note 5 just blew up. Much of a difference? Does B28 matter much with optus? I love my redmi note 3 pro.

    • Depends where you are. In cities it doesn't seem to make any real difference. I have a Xiaomi redmi note 4, my wife has an iphone 8, I don't seem to have any disadvantage in reception.

In more rural areas it apparently matters more.

  • +2

Band 28 is used for LTE, so yes it can make a big difference to speed.

  • Doesn’t mention this as being Global Rom.

Does Catch normally supply phones with Global Roms?

This is sourced from Asia somewhere.

    • +1

be interesting who is supplying these through catch as xiaomi have no australian distributor so back to china for repairs and xiaomi don’t do australian chargers so you get a generic charger or travel adapter ?

      • +1

Chinese gpos same as Australia, only upside down. Same volts and amps.

        Not a major concern.

        • I read it's 220V (not our 240V). Close enough?

Also, China is in the northern hemisphere, so sadly it's probably ours that are upside down. :(

        • +2

          @yow:

220 (210?) -250 is the range, although most chargers regulate between 110-250V to cover the whole wide world.

Actually mainland china copied Australia (and australia copied an old american design), and china also uses the us type plug and the euro, and all the chinese regions use different again (HK, Macau etc.) but it appears all pretty much all new developments in mainland china use the upside down Australian gpos as the standard along with us and euro in hotels to suit most guests.

don't stress too much, you are buying from an austrlian website.

  • Cheaper with eglobal if you can't get your hands on discounted gift cards https://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/product/xiaomi%20re…

    • +1

think the appeal for some is dealing with catch and in theory australian stock vs overseas stock ….. thing is xiaomi doesn’t do anything for australian market so no AU charger anyway.

is somebody bringing in in bulk, or catch just takes the order and it’s shipped from asia anyway.

don’t think you can sell chargers without aus tick if you are an australian company ?

      • +3

Yeah but that's the thing though - Australian website but not Australian stock - if you look further

'Marketplace - Dispatch in 5 business days
        Direct Import of International Model
Sold and delivered by TechWarehouse (Shipped from Asia)'

This is essentially sold by DWI in HK and will ship from there so it's still a grey import and you'll be dealing with the exact same issues than if you buy with eGlobal - they're owned/run by the same people

        • +1

I bought from catch yesterday for $200 and its in transit now, i think tomorrow it will be delivered. I am in Melbourne btw.

        • +1

          @randomrandom:

This phone? If so it will still be coming from Asia - they normally use DHL and often get's delivered in around 3-4 days

        • +1

          @urbancartel:
Yeh this phone and yes its coming from Hong Kong

        • +2

          @randomrandom:

Yeah they're pretty quick with delivery - i've bought some stuff from them with eBay sales and have received it in around 5 days…

          Enjoy the phone ;)

        • @randomrandom: Pric showing as $252, how were you able to get it for $200 ?

        • +3

@atlinus: Buy Catch gift cards at 20% discount from Woolworths and then use them to buy this phone

  • I went with the Redmi note 5 (updated Chinese version with 636 processor and camera) for $300 delivered with eglobal. Just have to wait now…

    • +1

How did you get that for $300 delivered. I get minimum $325 delivered, more for regional/rural.

      • +1

        Free delivery at the moment

      • aliexpress, $244 delivered, took a liitle under 2 weeks from order to arrive (3gb ram version, well enough)

        • Looks like that is for Gold only though. Black is $262 for the RN5 3GB/32GB :-(

        • Under 2 weeks.. wow…
I bought 64gb version from the same seller, it's been more than a month now…
          They keep saying no stocks

    • Was it 64gbversion ?

  • Isn't items sold by catch of the day covered by 2 year Australian Consumer law warranty?

    • Catch is advertising in place of Techwarehouse (DWI), similar to Amazon market or Ebay.

  • I could use some guidance here please. So, in order to get the phone for $201, I first need to go to Woolworhts, buy $250 worth of catch gift cards for $200 and then use the gift card numbers at the Catch checkout?

    • +2

Yep that's correct,. You'd have to get 5x $50 cards for $250 then pay $1 on top in cash. So $201 :)

      • ok., so its catch 20% discount at wollies.

I thought use WISH GC to buy Cacth GC which oly give 5% discount.

        • +1

so its catch 20% discount at wollies.

          Yup

    • +1

yes, if you want to save further, use cashrewards to but WW G/C at 5% off

  • I've never bought from Catch, anyone care to share thier experience e.g. any shipping issues or quality of products as advertised etc.? Are they reliable?

    • +1

They are very reliable. I’ve been using them fron last few years, never had any issues.

  • +2

    Sikh as

  • Tempted to get this or the RN5 4GB/64GB from eglobal currently $300 delivered, but going to hold off to see how much the new still to be released Mi A2 will cost.

  • I personally went for the Redmi Note 5 Pro CN Version for around the same price on aliexpress.
Only can get the 3GB RAM version at this price but I'm willing to sacrifice it for the significant upgrade in performance over the SD625 (SD636 in the RN5Pro).
Should be enough RAM as well once I get LineageOS on it too

  • +1

Thanks OP. Bought it with gift cards. Hope all goes well. Finally replacing my 2 year old Redmi Note 3.

  • Good price just bought a redmi note 5 pro from the mi shop in burma And was just under $250 aussie

    • 32gb ?

  • I want to buy this phone but, i cant find any catch gift cards at woolworths lol.

Any idea when the sale ends?

  • +1

My 5.2 inch phone barely fits in my jean pockets, that's legitimately the only reason I'm not buying this right now. Sigh.

    • This screen ratio is 18:9 so prob the same width as your current phone.

  • +1

The price went up by $2.

Ended up finding some GC thanks to Ifak comment on

hope it arrives before june :)

  • Could not find any catch gc. Giving up. Move to the next post.

  • Thanks. I know catch themselves can be hit and miss.

But has anyone actually purchased from techwarehosue as the direct seller in this case (not catch)? Any bad stories of reburbished goods or any warranty claims?
