Wow awesome! The catch gift cards will work out perfectly for anyone who wants a switch. Stack with discounted e-gift cards and it'll be about $320!!

    • +1

Can you elaborate please? If I want to buy something other than a switch?

      • +3

My apologies, I should have been more succinct.

You can get 5% off Woolworths gift cards Here through CashRewards. Then you can use those e-gift cards to buy the 20% cards you require at either self serve or manned checkouts :)

So essentially a further 5% saving for free.

        • This is doing my head in.

So if I want to buy $565 worth of stuff from Catch, do I buy $452 from Cashrewards but pay $429.4?

        • +3

          @DoubleUKayG:

Yep that's correct, well nearly, you'd have to get 9x $50 cards for $450 then pay $2 on top in cash. So $429.5 :)

        • +3

@doweyy: $429.50??!?! Do you think I'm made of money??

          But thanks doweyy :)

        • +2

@doweyy, how do you manage to get staff to let you pay with e-gift cards? The Self Service checkouts no longer allow you to purchase gift cards with e-gift cards (there are even signs at my local Woolies) and I've tried going through the manned checkouts but get the "you can't pay with an e-gift card" response, from various people at different times and at different locations.

          Thanks

        • +1

          @biganthony10:

I've managed to get it to work on both recently? Only just a few weeks ago I got 25 x $100 webjet cards at the manned checkout, the girl had no issues with it along with her supervisor, they were actually puzzled at how I thought of it lol.

Maybe the people at your local are really strict about it..

        • +2

@biganthony10: I just keep trying a different person until they say yes.

        • @biganthony10:

Would like to hear an answer to this.

        • @biganthony10: tried another woolies, and try another staff member, some of them doesn't care as long as you insist that if the system allow then why not.

        • @doweyy: I thought you can only use upto 5 catch gift cards???

        • @doweyy: Cool, Thanks. I must just be unlucky. :/

        • Is the best gift card to purchase the Wish one? Or are they all the same? Seems to be quite a few types of woolworths gift cards.

        • @biganthony10: That's strange. I've been doing that since last year. Sydney CBD.

        • Any idea how long it usually takes to get e-gift cards?
I know it says up to 48hours, but really?
Sending an e-mail with a code shouldn't take that long ..

          Waiting for 2 hours now.

        • +1

          @johnmelb:

Usually overnight or late same day for me…if I order early

        • +1

Thanks mate. I used your tip and saved a bit. Cheers.

    • I don't think there's any $100 denominations (correct me if I'm wrong); I've only seen $25 and $50 ones, so assuming that is still the case you'll be getting a discount on up to $250 Catch credit per transaction (you can only use 5 gift cards in a single transaction apparently).

      • +1

Forget about that, you can use more than 5 in practice. People used 8,9 on a switch during last target 20% deal. No problem.

        • Ah cool I take that back then.

    • +1

Agreed, last time stoced some from Target. Brought some good stuff. And this Time will stock more.

      • +1

Someone negged me lol, I guess they just don't understand the concept.

        • Always someone new to OzBargain. It's fine

    • Only problem is there will probably not be enough NS consoles in stock, so there will be a lot of people with $430 in Catch gift cards they don't want.

For when that happens, does anyone know how long the Catch gift cards last?

      • +1

They have heaps in stock from what I can tell, last time there was an offer quite a few people got them.

        • Ah, that's good.

          Just noticed another issue though.

"Can I use multiple gift cards towards my purchase?

Yes, you are able to use a maximum of five gift cards (both digital and physical) to cover the balance of your purchase.

Please note that if you need to pay for the balance of your order using a different payment method, you will be able to use up to 4 gift cards plus your credit card or PayPal account."

          Source here

If the other comments are correct, the largest card is $50, meaning you'd need at least 9 cards to pay with only gift cards.

If my math is right, that means with 4 $50 cards, it brings the Switch down to $372, still a good price, but not as great as first though.

        • +1

          @BradleyDS2:

It may say that, but in practice no limit is enforced :) See here

Trust me, I had the same questions as you last time, but have gotten some more knowledge about it.

        • @doweyy: Ah, alright. Sorry about that, should have read a bit more before commenting.

A bit weird they're so specific about the limits for gift cards if they're not enforced though, hopefully they don't change their mind and start enforcing them.

        • @doweyy: sorry still asking about this. You mean the system will keep popping up new “box” for you to key in the GC number even beyond 5 ? Really don’t want to stuck with 9 $50 GC if it doesn’t work 😩

        • @wondering:

Yes I believe that it just lets you enter as many as you want :)

        • @doweyy: awesome !

        • @wondering: Just bought one at 7am (wanted to make sure there was stock, have to be careful with other ozbargainers :P) and it kept popping up with the box.

Buy 850 cards and 125, use the 25 card to pay for a month of club catch ($6.50 monthly, comes with free shipping. Shipping would otherwise be $10) and the remaining balance on the 25 card along with the 8*50 cards +50 cents from a credit card to buy the Switch.

Use egift cards to buy the catch cards and your total cost is $323.50 delivered.

        • @BradleyDS2: How did you pay the one month of club catch by gift card? I just tried but it only let me pay by credit card? Cheers.

        • @ttkc: I went to the express checkout and asked to pay by egift card, had no problems doing so.

        • @BradleyDS2: Sorry do you mean you bought Catch gift card by Wish egift card at Woolworths using express checkout? My question was how did you pay for the Club Catch membership fee by Catch gift card? When I click the "start saving now" button it only allows payment by credit card?

        • @ttkc: Ah, whoops. Yep, that was what I meant.

Ah… That sucks. I had a membership already so I didn't test paying for the membership by gift card, sorry about that.

It looks like they force you to pay with credit card because they make the membership auto renewal, and the only way to stop it is to contact them by email or phone. Even if you choose not to save your card details it'll save them so they can auto-renew.

Hmm… I guess instead you could pay for shipping with the catch egift card, or buy another 50 catch card to take advantage of free shipping on orders above $45 and use the $50 + 6 left over from the other cards on an order of soap, dishwashing tablets, toothpaste or other long lasting products you'd need to buy eventually anyway.

Sorry that didn't work for you, I couldn't test it since I already had a membership.

        • @BradleyDS2: That makes sense. Many thanks for your advice.

    • Apparently you can't pay for Catch mobile with gift cards?

      https://m.catch.com.au/gift-card/

      T&cs

      1. Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase Catch Connect services.
    • Can the Catch gift card be used to pay for Catch Connect Prepaid sim? e.g. 360 days sim?

    • You can get another 10% off if you're a uni student using UNIDAYS.

I just got mine for $309 ($375 gift cards + club catch + $2 leftover to pay) because I didn't want to try my luck with stacking the woolworths egift card.

  • +6

The Movie Card can be used at the following cinemas: https://www.themoviecard.com.au/cinemas/

    • +3

So basically random non mainstream cinemas that not the majority of us do not visit. Probably works out cheaper just buying $10 tickets at Reading Cinemas or Event Cinemas.

      • Should be able to pay for Club Dendy pricing

    • Also can't use them to book tickets online either

    • +1

It's good for IMAX Melbourne, Palace, Lido, Astor etc in Vic. In-store, not online. Good for food and drink purchases.

  • Can you claim cash rewards from The Iconic when using gift cards? I can't seem to find any of this information on the cash rewards website

    • +1

I dont think so. I used store credits that I have on The Iconic to partly paid an order and the rest with Paypal. The cash rewards only rewards me with the amount that I paid with Paypal.

      • Can you stack iconic sale codes with gift cards ?

        • I was able to stack iconic sales code with gift card payment in the past. In essence, gift cards are cash equivalent so should be acceptable with all codes.

      • Good to know. I thought this used to be the case but I couldn't see any wording to this effect on the website

  • What is the maximum number of cards which can be purchased? Entire store worth?

    • 10 is the most you can buy in one transaction

      • Thanks. Assuming $50 denomination, that's $500 worth gift cards for $380 in one transaction (paying by GC)

        • Can't redeem all in one transaction though.

          Source here

        • @BradleyDS2: Apparently that rule is as enforced as the rule for wish cards not being used to buy other gift cards, so nevermind.

  • +3

How many gift cards can you use when making a purchase at the iconic?

  • +1

Can you use woolworth gift cards to buy these?

    • Yes you can

      • Technically you're not allowed to with WISH gift cards to buy gift cards as per their T&C's, so you may get rejected at some stores.

    • +1

They're both right. In practice you can. According to the T&C's you can't. See 6.5. link

  • Is eGift card a valid payment option for these cards on store?

    • Yes it is

      • not on the self service now though…

        • It worked perfectly for Sween?

        • Worked fine for me. Employee has to put a code in at end once the cards are scanned, other than that all good.

        • @doweyy: interesting his was new style though

  • How long will the 20% deal be valid for @ Woolworths or is it only for the day ?

    • +1

Usually a week from Wednesday so it will end next Tuesday.

  • bugger. I just bought a lot of the 10% off catch gift cards at australia post :(

    • +1

I just spent $180 at catch without any discount lol. Oh well. They will always be used.

      • Can you stack catch offers with gift cards ?

        • Yes you can use offers/coupon codes and pay with gift cards.

    • +2

Buy more this time, at least make it 15% off. Hope you buy a lot of stuff on catch which will make you feel better.

      • yeah thats the plan, Although sucks its not easy to use woolies e-gift cards to purchase these cards (ie having to try different salespeople), I usually use self checkout, i presume it definitely wont work in self checkout?

I already have about 1250$ in catch gift cards…but i gotta buy these from woolies, even better deal.

        • Better off in self checkout.

        • @sween64:
oh i thought people were saying you cant use the e-gift cards to buy these catch gift cards in self checkout? If you can thats awesome.

        • @lonewolf: It's against T&C's but the new POSs allow it.

    • I also bought $400 giftcard from last deal in auspost. I think auspost does not refund unused giftcard :(

  • +3

    OP, change to gourmet

  • +1

Do these run out of stock (catch) pretty quick and are you only able to buy instore?

    • +1

Depend on your location and how many OzBargainers around you.

  • +2

How about ipad on catch? Is it a good idea? Ta.

    • Great question - anyone else able to answer this one?
I think you can get the current model for $360 using the gift cards.

The current ipad (6th Gen) of 32gb wifi Ipad 9.7" screen is either $440 or $469
      There is one model for $440 : APPLE iPad 9.7INCH WI-FI 32GB (6th GEN) - Space Grey (MR7F2X/A)
Buy $450 of cards for $360.. And have $10 to spend on something else at Catch
      Or Buy $400 of cards for $320, plus $40 cash = $360.

      https://www.catch.com.au/product/apple-ipad-9-7inch-wi-fi-32…

      Buy $450 of cards for $360, plus $19 cash = $379.
You got yourself a cheap brand new ipad!
      https://www.catch.com.au/event/1/product/apple-ipad-9-7-2018…

      • Will trs work on the iPad?

        • I don’t think so, as it is grey Import

Best would be to check with Chat Reps

  • Does anyone know when does this deal finishes?

    • +2

Same day Woolies sales usually end - Tuesday (the 15th)

  • +1

Anyone know if you can gift card in conjunction with a discount code for the iconic?

    • want to know as well

    • Yes you can. Happy shopping

  • Will any of the cashback options work with this?

    • as in can we use cashrewards, shopback or other in conjunction with the catch gift cards?

      • +2

        From Cashrewards

Rewards will not be paid when store credit or gift cards are redeemed (spent).
