Just a heads up, you can get the SNES Classic Mini from Amazon for $99 Delivered with AMAZON20 for new users right now.

    • Hopefully amazon offer the NES because pre ordering from eb fails at the final stage of the checkout process, eb and jb need to start matching amazons free postage also.

  • +8

If you're looking for the SNES Classic Mini, it currently $99 delivered for new user ($119 delivered for existing user) from AmazonAU

EDIT: doweyy beat me to it.

  • -1

Is it limited availability? I have seen some on the shelves at my local Target and Big W.

    • +1

      that's the joke

  • +1

Still waiting on them to put up the second nes controller for pre-order as well.

  • +5

There's zero reason to own the NES version now that the SNES can dual boot both firmwares.

    • +3

      But the controller…

    • +3
      • Considering they both have the same hardware, I guess it's down to which one you think looks better.

      • +4

Yes, but the NES controller is missing buttons when done in reverse.

    • +8

general aesthetic, different controller, lack of modification required… seem like three solid reasons for the target audience this kind of gear is targeted at.

If piracy/loading roms onto system is always the best answer for you, then theres zero reason do own a mini SNES either.

I sold mine late last year cause I never used it. The nostalgia lasted for a whole hour.

    • +1

      Did you scalp it?

      • +1

Nah, I'm not a dirtbag. Sold for $90 a few months later.

        • +2

Obviously down voted by broden who is appalled

        • @buckster: hahaha damn filthy scalpers.

    The console for Hipsters

    • +1

You must be a super cool dude!

    • +6

I'm rocking a Gameboy Colour with Tetris DX for my daily commute entertainment. Am I a hipster?

      • -2

No, you need to be playing an original colour gameboy that you paid $500 for to be a hipster. Nobody is impressed by your flogged gameboy colour you have probably owned since you were 12, lol.

        • I bought it on eBay for $50.

My original one was thrown out by my mum ages ago.

        • nah that would make him a true collector.
A hipster would think this Mini stuff is the original and getting easily sucked in like this is part of being a hipster.

      • +1

Anyone who criticises you for playing the greatest tetris ever is a fool and to be ignored.
Countless hours lost as a teenager playing that game :)

Wow. A post about a retro concosle and no “Where’s the bargain?” or “Get a raspberry pi…” comments yet.

    Miracles do happen.

    • I've been running emulators on my phone for years, where's the bargain??

    • Where is the bargain though?

    • Get a xiaomi box and some Bluetooth snes controllers and have it all!

  • Anyone after the (now discontinued) matching 8Bitdo NES30 controller - this eBay seller has it for $28.50 delivered from Adelaide.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/8bitdo-NES30-bluetooth-controlle…

(Retro Receiver also required for use with the NES/SNES Minis if you don't already have one).

Thanks, ordered one. Still have not gotten over lady from JB laughing at me when I asked did they have one in stock last time round.

    • pwned

    • Yeah, what is with them? Get so animated.

  • You can get Sega Megadrive and a few other consoles games running on this as well with a bit of tinkering.

  • I can't place the order. I enter all my billing and address details, click pay $10 for the deposit and then nothing…

    • Same here, reminds of the first time I tried ordering a NES Classic with EB Games.

      • Successfully pre-ordered today, no idea what changed.

  • Is there a limit on how many you can order? I'm thinking about dropping $10k or so on these as a high yielding investment. - Kind regards, Broden

  • +4

    Thanks ordered 12

  • is this limited?

    • It is limited to how many they can sell.

  • +1

buy a raspberry pi for half the cost.

  • +1

    Where’s the bargain 🤔

  • -3

Did they start production of the NES one again?

  • These were so last year….

  • I wonder if Amazon will get this in.

  • What's everyone doing for a second controller?

    • Hoping they release more official ones.

      • I just realised the Classic Controller for Wii works for this. Have several of them.

    • See the post below

    • hard wire my internet fridge into controller port two and then run a controller emulator to run a 2D controller on the touch screen.

  • Cheers preordered.

  • I have a snes mini in my house and I have to say that these things are really overpriced for what they are.

    • Of course it is. But with its modification potential and later resell value, it pays for itself. It's an official product.
