    Yas queen!

  • Dumb question but we've always hooke dup our TV to a logitech x220 which is probably older than me. We found the bass very good and quality good.

Would a sound bar like this be a hell of. Alot better?

      • +3

Yeah it sounds pretty good to me. But obviously it's hard to compare.
And no I'm not clinically deaf!

    • Please define a hell of. Alot better?
For $160 a sound bar that has dolby virtual x, thats very good deal in comparison with sony and other entry level sound bar.
      Im happy with mine YAS107.

      • +1

As I said I don't know much about audio. And if there is a significant difference between the two I will happily buy.
But if not. Obviously I won't

        • +4

Sound is too subjective to give definitive advice for outside of tried and true models (namely headphones/popular speakers). Best way to know is to go in store and listen yourself.

      • +2

its a hellofalot better than most inbuilt tv speakers.

        • +2

Even the Logitech x220 speakers are ahellofalot better than most inbuilt tv speakers.

        • @MITM: yea lol true. Sigh the x220 offers no Centre channel so won't really offer the same experience

      • +1

        has dolby virtual x,

This is not as good as say a $1,000 speaker set (5.1 surround with active sub) is it ???
Ie. The old wired systems with 6 speakers around room are better aint they .. im guessing the virtual x is some attempt to replicate the multiple speaker set, virtually.

        • Not even close imo i have both. But very much better than most TV speakers.

        • With the price vs features vs my personal experience comparing with other branded entry level..which around double the price of this, i'll highly recommended it. Definitely you cant compare with $1000 soundbar.

        • +1

Those packaged HTiBs are generally not great. At $1000 I'd recommend going for a 2.1 setup where you get a decent entry level amp, a good set of bookshelves and a decent sub. Then build from there.

        • -2

@D3m3ntia: nope you need Centre channel or don't bother

        • @D3m3ntia: I agree with you there. I started off with a hitb and then ended up starting from scratch building a system bit by bit, the difference in sound with a good quality 2.1 setup definitely beats a hitb. I ended up moving my bookshelves to the rear and putting some tower speakers at the front.

    • +2

Short answer is no, not worth the upgrade for you. Your logi speakers will have better bass.

But vs built in speakers, yes miles better

      • +1

They will sound better when just listening to the sounds, but using it with a tv it had no Centre channel so you lose alot when it comes to basic positioning and dialogue

  • +3

    No shipping to SA :(

    • Was gonna maybe get one of these but yeah, no shipping to Adelaide Metro ):

    • Excludes: Adelaide Metro, Northern Territory, NSW Regional, Perth Metro, QLD Far North, QLD Regional, QLD South East, SA Regional, Tasmania, VIC Regional, WA Regional, WA Remote, PO Box

  • Looks like an amazing deal. It looks like they're sold out now though, it shows 0 avaliable.

    • I ordered just now for delivery, $20 more.

    • +1

If it shows 0 stock, it usually just means they don’t deliver to your address. Which for Bing Lee, means 90% of Australia for larger items. At least when it comes to their TV’s.

      • Shows stock for me but when I go into purchase it says seller may not post to your address. Any way to get this? Im in Perth?

        • Get an eastern sea board mate to toward it to you.

        • Wondering this also. They offer it via their main site for $199, no discount and $30 shipping. Was waiting to see if their online chat opened up to enquire - edit: no dice

        • +1

@sween64: They don’t send it to Canberra addresses either, even though we have a Bing Lee store…

How do you select click and collect?

        • +1

          @Procyon:

Yep, looks like no cheap Sound Bar for us today…

        • +2

@j4ck: So the workaround is to enter a random Sydney address, and then switch to Click and Collect in Fyschwick!

        • +3

@Procyon: I followed up with the Bing Lee store and they said that Canberra was part of the postal exclusion zone (no idea why, there are two stores here!). They supplied the following:

          Please try the following steps:
          - On the eBay listing, click “select a store”
          - Please enter “store post code” at click & collect search
          - Select Bing Lee store you like to collect from
          - Click “Buy it Now”
          - Enter the discount code on the bottom of page
          - On the “POST TO” please enter your “CORRECT ADDRESS” with Sydney Metro post code (ex:2000)
          - Then click “PayPal” to pay the order.
Please note this applies only to the Click & Collect order

I was too impatient for their reply and found a way around it anyway, and was able to submit an order by changing my primary postal address to Sydney, as this allowed me to add the item to the shopping cart. Once at the payment and delivery page, I was able to select "click and collect" from the Belconnen or Fyswick stores.

          @Arkanite:

You sir, are my hero. Thank you so much!

Ordered placed for pick-up at Fyshwick!

  • +3

Bought one of these last week to replace the crappy in built speakers on my TV. Sounds very good, has exceeded my expectations greatly.

    Fantastic at this price.

  • +1

    Bought one. Thanks OP

  • +1

Gone ! "Please enter a quantity of 0 or less."

  • +2

I got one for 320 not too long ago, this is a steal.

  • +1

    Got two cheers. Fantastic price.

    • Hope they send you a pair and not 2 lefts or 2 rights.

    • thanks for buying two.
saved someone else from being able to get one.
      how nice of you.

  • FIY this is a 2 channel bar, no subwoofer. It'll still be loads better than your average TV's built in speakers, but if you are a bass head, then this is not for you as there's no substitute for a dedicated sub.

    • It has a sub out, so if you're a bass head you can connect up a quality woofer. Don't think you'll find better sound for the $$ in a sound bar

      • But you’d have a cable going from the sound bar under the TV to the sub in the corner of the room.
Wireless subs are easier to conceal behind a couch or under a coffee table for example.
Yamaha do make quality sound equipment though.

  • +1

Got one! Very good reviews for this sound bar👍

  • So you connect this to your tv via hdmi?

    • It also has an optical port if you already are using your ARC HDMI port :)

  • 0 available / 102 sold.

    • +1

      See my comment above.

      • -7

Couldn’t find it/CBB- care to copy & paste it.

        • +7

          CBB copying and pasting it.

      • +2

Thanks, was a very convoluted process to get to the checkout on a mobile device but managed it in the end. Will be picking up from the Fyshwick store.

  • +1

have one. can anyone suggest a cheap subwoofer under 300 that people are using with it

    • +1

Just fyi, it has inbuilt subwoofer but if u want earthquake bass then continue look for separate subwoofer.

  • +1

👍thanks bought 1 was looking for soundbar

  • +4

Didn't need one so I just bought one.I love Ozbargain, it saves me a fortune.

    • +3

You should have bought two and saved twice as much! You are a disgrace to Ozbargain ;-)

  • +1

I have this and its quite good BUT it does not play nicely with chromecast. Causes audio delay and no way to adjust it seems with the combination of those 2 devices. Its been relegated to cupboard for now.

  • +1

How is the low frequency sound without the sub? Is the 207 worth the price difference?

  • What's a soundbar like for a desktop PC? Obviously headphones are still best for gaming but what about music and YouTube? Does it matter if you sit too close to it?

    • +1

Heaps better than PC speakers - most soundbars are manufactured by company that knows sound better than most PC manufacturers.
I myself is using Sony HT MT-300 - it's a mini-soundbar, 50cm long and is ideal for me as it sits flushed under my monitor around the same length. I also have a small desk so the compact size is a space saving grace.

An alternative is Razer Leviathan soundbar which I think looks like a toy compared to Sony HT MT-300 hence I go with Sony in the end

I sit about 40-50cm away from the soundbar and the sound clarity is amazing - it wont be a problem if what you worried about is the volume.

    • I thought soundbars are designed for people to sit a certain distance away from them, so if you are close to them the surround features would probably be 'off'. Why not normal PC speakers, like Creative?

      • Honestly for soundbar this price, U not going to get the same sound stage as a 5.1 setup.
Furthermore, it is "virtual surround" so unlikely it is gonna project good surround so why bother?

  • So Catch.com is selling a version that apparently includes subwoofers for $230ish with delivery, how important is subwoofers to audio quality? Catch.com ATS1070B

    • +4

It's the same unit. It has built in subwoofers but no standalone subwoofer.

      • So a better product due to inbuilt subwoofers but a significant $70 more? Better to get an external subwoofer for $70? I know so little about sound setups.

        • +1

FabMan… They're the same product. They both have built-in subwoofers.

        • +3

@j4ck: I see… just ignore my last comment, pretend you didn't see it.

  • +2

I have this soundbar connected to a Sony 65x8500d. The Yas107 totally changed my experience with the tv. It has plenty of bass and good clarity. Once you connect through the ARC Hdmi port on your TV, it automatically turns on and off with the tv remote, with the tv remote controlling the sound through the Yas 107. Its loud enough to enjoy action movies without upsetting the neighbours or shaking the house down. Its also a neat, clean system that looks good with minimal cables which was important to me. For the money, you cannot beat it.

  • +3

Been looking for a soundbar, bought one. Thanks!

  • +3

Ordered and I am not sure why. :-)

  • Sonofabitch! I bought this from Catch for $254 literally a week ago.

  • I have the YAS207 which is the same as this but with added sub.

Highly recommended for replacing TV audio. Excellent piece of kit for the price.

    • No. Yas 207 is quite different from this yas107.
Yas207 body has different size of speakers and the sound clarity of it is better than the yas 107.
I have bought both 207 and 107 and the 107 is hooked with an extra sub but I would still think yas207 is better.

      • Yes. You are correct

  • I've got one of these and it's really great

  • +2

Which one is better Logitech Z623 or this?

    • +1

YAS by far. Logitech don't know anything about speakers and audio design.

    • I got the Z623 for a gaming setup on my pc. Guns sound super realistic with the massive sub, I love it for my pc. For the tv, not sure if your tv has a 3.5mm jack. There isn't a remote control for it either.

      • Yes i have a jack and you should be able to control it using remote.

  • Got this from tGG when it was 20% but having issues with my hisense 55n7 in that I have to always put it on and doesn’t automatically turn on when I turn on the tv.. just a bit annoying

    • Ugh really? I was about to pull the trigger until I saw your comment - 65N7 here.

edit: wait nm, Brisbane excluded anyway for postage

    • Maybe a firmware issue for you on tv?

    • it actually does turn on/off with the hisense tv but u need to setup it in the setting. i remember in hdmi setting or something. they have few setting under that hdmi setting. just play it a bit then u will get it.

    • Had the same issue. You need to head to settings > system > HDMI and cec functions > toggle "device auto power off" to "off". Leave the rest on

    • Additionally, if you mean the unit turns on with the TV, but no sound, you may want to disconnect chromecast from HDMI port. I've found when I turn the TV on whilst the chromecast is in, the sound bar input always changes to HDMI, rather than TV.

  • +3

You'd be mad not to buy this SB at this price. Bought one last year on release and it's awesome for the price. (Paid $230~) and at $160 it's a must buy for anyone wanting to upgrade from their shitty inbuilt TV speakers.

    • +1

Are you using a sub with the 107?

      • I’m picking mine up tomorrow and plan to plug my Jamo into it.

I’ll let you know how it goes.

        • Tomorrow? That was quick. C&c shows collection is available on the 24.05.

        • @whooah1979:

          Bought today at 11.19am

          Bing lee receipt at 11.33am

Bing lee order ready for pick up 12.05pm today.

….. but I can’t pick it up until tomorrow.

          Erina store.

          Paid with PayPal.

I suppose it depends if they have stock in store.

        • thanks.

        • @Eeples:

it looks like the stores close by is out of stock.
          thanks.

        • @Eeples:

          46 minute turn around

          Terrible service :)

        • Hooked up using optic cable to my 65n7 sounds a bit better that the tvs own speakers. A bit more bass.

Added the powered Jamo. It sounds way better altogether.

          Then hooked via hdmi.

The sound bar turns off and on with the television and the sound is controlled by the tv remote.

      • Yes although it helps its built in bass is ok for most people.

  • +1

I got one of these last week and have the ps4 pro connected to the HDMI in on the soundbar and the HDMI out going to the Sony x8500e. Sometimes while gaming it will flicker black for a moment or second then go back to the original image…when I out the ps4 in test mode and wake it up sometimes it will show no signal to the tv and I have to U plug everything.

It sounds great but doesn't play nicely with ARC or the ps4 pro

    • I use ARC so good to know.

  • Thanks OP, ordered one for the in-laws. Hopefully the pickup message comes through soon!

  • +1

I got YAS-103 older model bought couple of years ago. It’s got nice clear sound and the small subwoofer it has is very good so this higher model should be even better.
