Hard to keep up with all the 5% DISCOUNTS…

    • +22

      But this is 4 x 5% discount… - markup = 5% discount. OK you're right.

  • Here we go again

  • +11

    115% RRP with a 20% discount, woo!

    • +2

The V10 animal is at RRP, so a genuine discount.

    • +15

Airpods retail at $229, they have them at $256. What a joke.

      • +1

Should report them. It is illegal to do that. ACCC fined Kogan for doing just that on eBay a couple years ago.

        • U got an article? Not doubting, just interested.

        • @lysp: wow. So many companies do this during eBay sales. I wonder why the ACCC smashes Kogan and no one else.

        • @lysp:

That's interesting. It's standard practice for dozens of sellers on eBay for these promotions.

        • @gadgetguy: I’ve been wondering about this myself as the subject is mentioned every 20% sale Ebay has and the ACCC are not doing anything about it.

I also sent a few stores PMs asking them why the price hike and they said it was for Ebay fees witch is bullshit because they sell on eBay and have a wider audience wtf should the customer have to pay more money that there cost not ours

        • In the business world they call it "Cost of doing business".

        • @Bellpop: I'd speculate they were on ACCC radar after the Dick Smith trades?

        • But how do these stores get included in these eBay promotions? Does eBay choose them or do the stores apply to be part of the promotion?

Either way, I guess if the store knows about the promo (regardless if they are the ones organising it) then the ACCC ruling should apply to them.

    • I've already seen a Fitbit Versa for 316, where the RRP is 299. Still a good saving but I got mine for a legit 20% off (240) during another 20% off sale.

I came here just for the price jacking comments :O

  • Any ps4 pro deals

    • +1

Not according to ctrl-F although there is a ps4 vr kit $432.

Maybe there will be more other than the "featured items".

      • Or ⌘-f on a Mac OS.

  • Is there a list of stores?

  • -1

    Doesn't work on GPS's

  • +1

Just curious though what do everyone buy in these sales, it seems a lot of the items have been price-jacked or increase delivery fees?

  • +3

If anyone was wondering, there are no QC35's in the list. There is however, frying pans.

    • +11

At least the frying pans are over ear.

    • Found some QC35 II for $368 ($460-20%) here @ Videopro: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bose-QC35-II-Quiet-Comfort-Noise…

      • What do you think are the chances of fidnkng a pair any cheaper than this?

Have been looking for approx 4 weeks and don't think I've seen them lower in that time ?

        • +1

The average good sale price is $370. That's the price I bought them at a year ago and the same price that usually makes it to the front page.

There are better sales on them occasionally, but no idea how much longer you'd be waiting and what discount you'd get.

The Sony WH1000XM2 have better sales, and are better than the Bose in sound quality and ANC, but the Bose win in comfort if you don't have a small head. The WH1000XM2 also don't have the headband cracking issue that the WH1000 had as it uses different materials in the headband, so unless you don't have a small head and prefer comfort, they're a better choice. The reason they're not as recommended is because Bose got into the market earlier, and Sony ruined their rep with the cracking issue the WH1000 had.

I personally own the QC35, but if I could swap them for the WH1000XM2 I would.

If you're travelling overseas, make sure you buy them from an Australian seller and get a tax invoice so you can claim TRS.

          @BradleyDS2:

And for anyone interested here are the WH1000XM2 @ Videopro $348 ($436-20%) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sony-WH1000XM2-Wireless-Noise-Ca…

Miele Cat and Dog Vaccum Cleaner for $320 is excellent buy due to this offer from BingLee

    • I noticed the same thing, if I didn't already have one I would buy it.

      • I bought one of these last time around but the suction on the thing is so powerful it just clamps down on the carpet and is impossible to push…
        Any suggestions?

        • There are different modes on the suction power, should be able to find one to suit your carpet.

        • There’s a sliding control on it that can increase or decrease the power

You'll get the phone new, but can forget about warranty. But some people might be happy with that.

      • I paid for new and they sent me refurbed lol (back in the note 5 days) - pushed them hard for a refund before they would action. Never went back - bought 4 phone with them in the past.. 2 of them had issues (arrived turned on/ other was tampered etc)

I had a great experience with Jaybird when my x2 broke down and got a replacement for x3 for free.

Incorrect, the ABSOLUTE shows on the page.

Code wasnt working, but I kept trying and refreshing and it accepted the code. Bought 2x!

        • @katz: Definitely can get 20% on absolute. I just bought one.

  • Has anyone ever had any success in getting physical stores to price match an eBay item/sale?

Looking at the Dyson V10 and have $800 in David Jones vouchers (bought for 20% off).

    • How did you get 20% off

      • It was a evoucher deal posted on here a while back.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/367378

Only purchased them with the idea of going in store and getting them to price match a 15%/20%/25% off special on the Dyson V10 and paying with those vouchers, but 2 months in and there hasn't been a single retailer put the V10 on sale.

How are 360 controllers still above $50 anywhere?

That shit is like a decade and a half old tech.

(Don't misunderstand me, as far as I'm concerned, it is the best controller ever designed, but damn, I can't see the justification for the continued high markup).

    • as far as I'm concerned, it is the best controller ever designed,

You're not the only one. That right there is the justification for the continued high markup.
I contribute to it myself because I buy a controller or 2 every couple of years.

  • any good vdsl modem deal?

  • Perfect timing! My BCG800 grinder gave up the ghost over the weekend and hoped it wouldn't be too long for another sale to replace it; ordered the BCG820.

Breville BES920 $719 C+C or $729 delivered from Bing Lee.

Tried to post as a separate deal but I had problems trying to put in the eBay code.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Breville-BES920-the-Dual-Boi…

    • I just ordered the BES980 after my 920 has been developing problems after 5 years, and yes I'm $1k lazy to grind, tamp and froth milk.

      • 5 Years is a bit poor for a $1000 machine, hope to get a bit more out of mine, my old quaha lasted 15!

        • I think it's just seals that probably need replacing which is causing leaks. Once I get the new machine I might try fixing it myself. I actually like the Dual Boiler a lot but I will drink more coffee and appreciate the time saving and automation of grind/tamp, water going into long blacks and milk texturing.

      • This post:

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/344941#comment-5335167

kind of put me off the 980.

        • 920 and 980 will perform pretty similar and the extra cost all goes into the automation features. What put you off in particular, I don't agree with all the points but in general it seems pretty fair and positive towards the Oracle?

        • @bxpressiv:

The waste of coffee, smaller milk jug and lack of control mainly. I don't drink milk so that part didn't interest me but my partner does so the smaller jug would be annoying.

        • Fair enough but even on the Dual Boiler most people would recommend using double shots and dumping the second shot. And the jug, an accessory, I wouldn't have thought would be a consideration when comparing the machines. I think this line about sums it up -"The Oracle is good enough compared to the Dual Boiler but definitely wins on ease and consistency." It's over double the price so it's a big value proposition, but in terms of coffee for most people they'll both be able to produce the same sort of output but I reckon the Oracles life expectancy will be shorter.

        • I didn't read the linked post, but I got the BES990 last sale and am loving it. I make a long black in the same time I used to make an instant coffee (I still boil the jug for my wife's tea, so have accurate comparison… though it would depend on whether water is still hot in boiler… far faster than boiling the jug for a 2nd cup).

Every coffee comes out the same - like from a decent cafe.

So as far as I'm concerned, longevity is the only possible issue.

        • @gadgetguy:

The pack must have been updated because it comes with a single shot basket and the milk jug is the same size.
