Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (Wi-Fi, 16GB, Black) - $239.20 Delivered @ Myer on eBay

PERFECT20

After seeing Myer deal was browsing through tablet section and there was 'New Samsung Galaxy Tab A Wi-Fi 16GB Black'.

$299 after 20% off is $239.2.
Cashreward 1% $236.1.

I believe invoice from Myers Ebay usually shows price before discount so buy something to make it over $300 for TRS then comes down to $206.31. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Prices I found other sites

In this day and age I expect minimum 720p.

Even that wasn't enough for those bagging out the refurb Nexus 10 for ~ $100, which beats this into a cocked hat…

      • Both have lack of ram and CPU power.

which beats this into a cocked hat

The Nexus 10 only has 1GB of usable ram compared to two in this.

The Nexus 10 only has 2 cores on the CPU compared to 4 in this.

Sure the Nexus 10 has much better resolution, but it runs like shit because of it.

This is 1280 by 800, so I guess it meets your expectations!

  • my question to you guys is I dont mind grey import or not and I prefer 10.1.
Should I get 10.1 for slightly more but an older model or get this 8.0 but newer and cheaper?
Let me know what you guys think.

Just pay the additional $20 (after accounting for shipping) and get it from Good Guys or on their ebay and use PULL5 if you want this model.

      • Not just $20. Seems like it's 16bg model at GG. The other one is 32gb.

        • Ah good catch. AFAIK the 32gb was never marketed here so it has to be grey import for that model.

      • I'm looking at buying the Samsung SM-T580NZWAXSA Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is the best local price $284.05 at Good Guy's on ebay using PULL5 ?

These things are 2 years old now, so outdated, but cheap.

    • the one I have posted was released September 2017 right?

      • Yep. The SM-T380.

The SM-T350/355 (reasonable tablets too, imo) are a few years old.

  • Well if you can claim one of as work expense, you deduct the full amount on your tax. I'm sure most people in offices could ckaim at least 50% because they use it to work related research & read work documents in it.

    • ATO says it is tax deductible if it is absolutely necessary.

I bought a mechanical keyboard to use in the office, but it is not tax deductible because the company does have a keyboard for me. This added keyboard just let me feel better or type faster, not absolutely necessary. In other words, if my typing speed is not fast enough with a normal keyboard, it is the company's interest to hire someone else, not getting money from the government or Centrelink recipients. :(

ATO says it is tax deductible if it is absolutely necessary.

        Where do they say that?
        Here's what the ATO says
        https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/Income-and-deductions/Ded…

Its a work tool. Who said you couldn't claim a special work keyboard? If it was your accountant I'd have a chat to someone elae like H&R Block, as it's a tool you use at work to earn your income.

  • I use the 3G version in my car, the key criteria was 3G and GPS, runs so much better than an automobile supplied system

Oh, for just surfing the web it's slow by today's standards, much better devices for that purpose

  • Btw, you can find heaps of the 4G variants going off for under $200 on ebay still sealed due to people signing up on contracts with telstra and optus then selling the tablet. If you're happy to go that route.

    • which models?

  • I use one daily & currently using one as a temp phone replacement (I got the 4g model so it sends/receives calls). Ive been using it longer then a year and it runs decently with little lag for most tasks. Just don't expect it to handle hi-res video and graphic intense gaming well.

Its running Android 7.1 & most of the Samsung bloatware is mostly unobtrusive (that I know of). If your used to 7inch then you'll be surprised by the difference the extra inch makes (pun unintended).
