  • Any deal on 4gb/64gb?

    • No deal,too expensive for 4GB 64GB

      USD $219.99 for gold color
      https://m.joybuy.com/650885982.html

      • 4g 64G $300 for the specs great price if you do not need NFC
nothing comes close to this phone at this price IMHO

        • I got the 4gb Redmi 5 pro for just under $250 and couldn't be happier. Brilliant phones (and the camera on the Redmi 5 still utterly rocks despite what some reviewers say).

        • @papercutter: where did you get it for $250

        • @OzSikh:
          Ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Xiaomi-Redmi-5-Plus-Gold-Dual-4G…

Has global ROM and ordered on Friday, arrived early Monday morning.

Edit sorry if Pro and Plus are different versions, hard to keep track of them all. Either way that's the one I got :)

nothing comes close to this phone at this price

You're right Not really, it's waay more expensive than the Sharp Aquos S2 which has IGZO panel, NFC and Band 28 for $214.

        • +2

At $300 I would personally buy the AU STOCK Nova 2i for $320 instead

        • @Diji1:
compare the specs also have read the issues people are having with SMS and calls

@papercutter: I know Pro and Plus are diff.

And I think PRO is just for Indian market, someone please confirm it.

        • @costas60:

Dumb Q, what is NFC used for?

BTW, OZSikh told me some difference recently in these models.

        • @coolim:

Ahh which one? Specs? Price guide?

        • @electricbluee: Ok, like I mentioned in my other comment, Indian Redmi Note 5 Pro is called Redmi Note 5 in China and Indian Redmi Note 5 is called Redmi 5 Plus in China

        • @papercutter: Yes Pro & Plus are totally different.

        • @OzSikh: Thanks again.
Btw, have we had any deal on Redmi Note 5 (from China/Hongkong with Global Rom) on OZB yet? or we expect to see it soon?

        • +2

@electricbluee: Not sure, if you bought some discounted Catch Gift Cards from this deal. But if you have, you can actually get Redmi Note 5 4gb/64gb for AU $263 delivered from here

Edit - this is the cheapest way at the moment

        • @pointnlarf:
I'm thinking same thing as well. what about between Nova 2i and Moto G5S Plus? hard to choose for my family who looking for local stock only.

        • @electricbluee: Will launch on 31/05,Xiaomi mi 7 (Maybe)

          Launch Miband 3

          This is all I know.

        • @coolim: thanks, but I was actually asking @pointnlarf for the Nova 2i deal :D

For those looking for a Redmi Note 5 4GB/64 the cheapest I can find it for is currently on ebay @ eglobal using the 20% off voucher. You can pick it up for approximately $308 (Black) with free shipping and a 16GB MicroSD card.

It's not a fantastic deal though. The flash card is really small and it really only works out to be a 5% saving. Gonna just wait for the price drop.

  • Can we ban deals involving Gold color phones?

    #Ewwww

    • Slap a case on it and no one will ever know..

      • But the face is white though, not black.

  • it’s different with Redmi 5 plus.

    How do the two differ?

    • +1

      Plus is SD 625
      Note 5 is SD 636
      https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8959&idPhone2=8893&idPhone3=8797#,,64-4gb

    • costas60 is correct,

Note 5 is Snapdragon 636 octa core

  • Ships within 30 days, arrives in 15~60 days

    • +1

They are shipping by 4px,it’s not bad transport company from china, and it will use Fastway transport shipping in Australia.

I have order from china shipping came to Australia and use 4px,receive package in 10-15 day,not bad.

The rear camera for Redmi Note 5 should have f/1.9 aperture. The f/2.2 aperture is for Redmi Note 5 Pro which is for Indian market. The global version which is based on China version has a superior camera with Dual Pixel Auto Focus. The front camera has AI and flash. It comes with Android Oreo instead of Nougat on Indian version. Make sure before you buy that it is not the Indian version.

    • You are right, just compared the specs between the China and Indian versions on gsmarena. They vary slightly in the camera department OP should mention this in the description.

maybe consider redmi note 4x from shopmonk.. $170 delivered express dhl??

i think note 4x is lineage OS ready.. with the note 5 i assume you may be stuck on miui for some time.. in my experience it sucked.. many issues but main one was that it would suppress calendar alerts and things.. no matter how much I tried to whitelist those apps etc in the system.. or turn off battery optimisation etc.

    • +1

note 4x arrived in 2.5 business days from shopmonk.. but it takes 3 days to get mi to unlock it?? facepalm

  • Wish they made a 636 under 5.2". I remember when they used to call anything over 5.5" a phablet. Now it's standard…

  • did any one found band 28 model for sale?

    • +1

If it's important to you, that's fine but just to give my experience, I've literally never had a phone with band 28 on it and I have never once thought my internet was too slow. I'm with Telstra as well.

I find that band 28, while it may offer some increase in performance (I wouldn't know of course) probably isn't strictly necessary unless the price difference between handsets is fairly minimal.

      • +1

Really depends where you use your phone. Obviously you are in a strong signal area. For many, it's the difference between Any 4G or Weak/No 3G reception.

  • +1

Its signal range and better pnetration compared to speed.
