If you add them both to the cart it takes $109 off as a discount.

    Is Lockster your Facebook name?

    • Haha no

So you're using a fake name?

  • Tempted, but the postage + handling fees… Can't figure out how to select pick up in store…

    • +1

The ordering for pickup is seperate from their online ordering (as are stock levels) but prices are the same.

Go to homepage and click the "Order online for pickup". You will be asked to enter postcode which sets the location to the store closest to the postcode. Then order. You pay in-store when you pick up the order.

If you know what you want this is easiest way to shop from MSY, you just tell them the order number so make sure you have it or email with you so you can look it up.

Stores have different levels of stock so if you have more than one location convenient you can check other locations if one is OOS.

      • Thanks for that. Now need to decide whether I really need a AMD RX 580.
Hm… Probably wait / dream for a bigger price drop.

        • Do it!
It's a good deal if you want one it comes with two big upgrades to a Desktop.

I just looked up how much of an improvement this brings to my 290x I bought a few years ago (paid about $300).

    About 10%.

    Bloody hell.

      Lol.

Well to be fair, the 290X was a top card back in its day and at release, was the fastest card available. I used to have a 290X too.

The 580X is a mid-range card one generation later, (Hawaii to Polaris) so it's probably not surprising.

AMD just hasn't been doing well with GPUs. The 290X was great, refreshed for the 300-series they were okay (390X), but the R9 Fury X and RX Vega have been flops.

      • Flops in the sense that the performance and efficiency is a bit dissappointing sure. But thanks to mining they constantly sold out at inflated prices. So not quite a flop.

Vegas a great gaming card for it's intended RRP. Just not for the price the miners will pay for it. Although it outperformance a Titan for their purposes so to them it's still a good deal.

    • The temps from the 580 would cause that bloody hell haha

  • The EXOC SNPR version from Galax is another $40 cheaper at shopping express: https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/galax-geforce-gtx-107…

The HOF version looks to have a higher RRP though so is probably a better deal, although I don't really know how much difference there is between aftermarket air blowers?

  • Finally GPU prices are coming back down to reasonable levels.

The 8GB RX 580 was $380-ish a year ago. So if you value the SSD around $100, we're getting back there.

The flip side is that the GPU market is in a bubble right now. The moment the next series of GPUs launch, miners will move over and push up the difficulty making the older GPUs non-profitable. They will then all be flogged on eBay.

  • Down, down, 1080 prices going down!

  • Thanks for posting this. I picked one up yesterday. It's actually quite a big upgrade for me, was previously running a 7970.
Also, in the middle of building an 8700k system, so this goes nicely.

    • That's great mate, you gonna get a 1440p monitor?
