Id you're spending big, dont forget to transfer $ to your c/card account before due date so they dont hit you with the insurance fee

If you use bpay to settle your account, you'll incur fees (I think it's $0.95) for the convenience. To not pay the fees, login to your account, and use the "Pay my account" link to request funds from your bank account instead.

      • +2

Payment by phone is also fee free. Counter-intuitive, but sometimes you're forced to because of their stupid limitations (one payment every 3 to 5 days and not able to pay in advance)

  • You can modify your post and include Samsung Pay as well.

Just got email from 28Degree. Get 5% back up to 50$ while using Samsung Pay.

via a device on either Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, Fitbit Pay or Garmin Pay.

    • That was posted 10/05.
      I received email today 23/05.
      Staged roll out?

    • Not really dupe as the old post was only limited to Apple Pay. This Cash Back has been expanded to other contactless payment systems.

      • If the original was edited before you posted then it's a dupe. I've had countless deals removed before because of that reason 😭

Awww man I haven't got an email for this….I wonder why?

  • +1

    i didnt get it :(

  • double up with price protection :D

  • What are good ways to spend $1000 on the card using the google pay (do we have to use that NFC stuff? i.e. bricks and mortar). I usually buy electronics online etc.

    • Even in the previous deal, the biggest problem is trying to hit A$1000 worth of spending a month.

      • Why do you want to hit $1000? Even if you only spend $100 you ll get 5% so always good to take

        • "To receive the maximum of $50 back, you must spend a minimum of $1,000 in a calendar month to qualify."

        • @excite: wasn't worded last this on the email I received :/)

        • @Gooddeal21: I believe they sent everyone the same email, check the small print at the bottom.

  • I got the last offer and this offer. For Apple pay. I wonder why this one needs to be activated and the other doesn't?

  • -2

Need a brick and mortar store with a good deal on a DJI spark fly more combo

  • Got the Apple Pay offer (don't have an iPhone) but didn't get this one wah (probably because my card is already in Google Pay)

  • up to $50 is spending or total refund?

    • Up to $50 will be credited to your account within 30 days of the offer end date. To receive the maximum of $50 back, you must spend a minimum of $1,000 in a calendar month to qualify.

    • I’m still not sure, if we only spend, say, $500, do we still get $25 (5%), or get nothing (because we don’t reach $1000)?

      • Pretty sure you get 5% back of whatever you can spend, up to $1000 total spend. Wording is "up to $50" and "to receive the maximum of $50" which clearly says that this is the upper limit.. hence cash backs less than $50 can exist and be paid.

As for why not everyone was targeted, my guess is that only low spenders (I count myself as one, and got the offer) were targeted, to encourage use of the card.

        • I think you are mistaken

Need to spend at least 1k before this cash back applies.

        • +2

@cloudy: no i asked them, the $1000 was confusing to me. So I asked and they confirmed any spending up to $1000 will give u 5% (as long as paid with device….)

        • +1

          @Gooddeal21:

So if I only spent 500 that month in total, but used device to pay with all 500 I’d get 25 back?

        • @cloudy: correct

  • Suggestions for spending 1k$ in the month:

Food- supermarket, restaurant, take away, coffees!
Fuel - car, boat, bike, drums if you have to.
Car - maintenance you've been avoiding like servicing, tyres. Rego if it's due.
    Home appliances you've dodged replacing.
Ditto for clothes, shoes, linen etc

I can spend a grand every month without trying. Just pay in person where possible instead of online just for this month to get your 50 bucks.

Confused. Up to 50 to maximum credit with the minimum spending of 1000 dollars. So what's the ratio if we spend less than 1000 dollars?

    • +1

      it is 5%

      • -2

        Thank you.
Can we use Google pay when we purchase something on ebay or amazon, etc?

  • I got the email that says cashback when using Samsung pay, but i don't have samsung phone. Does it mean I won't get the cashback if I use apple/android pay?

  • I already had my 28degrees loaded into Samsung Pay - maybe that's why I haven't received it? Or has someone else with it also already loaded gotten the offer?

  • Any tips for helping to get targeted with this offer?

I've mainly used the 28 Degrees card for online overseas purchases to avoid the TXN fee, and use a Visa for local purchases (including phone based payment).

Do you think they're ignoring me because they consider me small fry?

    • I haven't used my 28 degrees card since my Europe trip in 2015. And I received the original offer on 10/5. Check your junk mail maybe.

  • After spending 2k within 1 month i got the targeted offer, i think they want to make sure you will actually make the purchases required to get the money which is 1k.

  • the original offer was only for applepay:

Up to $50 will be credited to your account when you spend a minimum of $1,000 in a calendar month, to a maximum of $150 credited during the promotional period.

Have spent $750 now, so it seems I would not be able to hit the cap for May. But if I hit the cap I will just use my Amex if possible otherwise I would use my woolworths credit card through which I can collect points.

I use this offer to shop everything apart fromm woolworths and Caltex at the moment, because the 7% off wish gift card still saves more money.

  • I don't really know how they are targeting users but I just got mail for Samsung Pay (Already added when it first came out).

I haven't really used card often in AUS as I only use it for travelling (But I used Coles MasterCard as Main) and used it about 3 weeks ago while in Japan but that was less then $300.

Also my $50 cashback is until 31st Auguest

  • For those that have this deal as being active, does it show up anywhere else in your account? Or is the only way you know it applies to you is because you got the email? Also, did you have to do anything like sign up through info in the email?

  • I have 2x 28 Degree cards. Received an email for this offer (for Samsung Pay) but the email didn't specify which card it applied to. Rang the Customer Service centre to find out which card it applied to and they advised all 28 Degrees Cards were eligible. Didn't have 28 degrees card loaded into Samsung Pay prior to receiving the promo email. (I did have it added to Fitbit Pay however)

Very deceptive. Called and spoke to 28degree rep. He was so confused. Said I have to spend $1000 to activate the offer, and then spend more money to get 5% cashback of what I spend after $1000

Not being satisfied with his response. I spoke to his manager.

She told me that I need to spend minimum $1000 to receive any cashback. She admitted that her team was confused by the wording of the email and ruled it so 28 degrees will not be offering any cashback if you spend less than $1000

Better off continue using your AMEX or other rewards card if you aren’t going to spend more than $1000 in a month. Alternatively you can use Prezzee app to buy woolies/Coles giftcards at 5% off using Apple Pay (I assume there’s an option for android pay but have not tested it myself)

Just called 28 Degrees to check myself as there seems to be a mixture of answers regarding if you need to spend $1000 before you get anything back.

I was told that you do not need to spend $1000 first, anything you spend under will still receive 5% cashback. This is how I also interpreted the terms and conditions prior to calling.

Hope this helps clear things up.

  • So much confusion… has anyone actually received confirmation about any cashback? I spent $1080 in one hit using Samsung Pay and I have no idea if I get any cashback whatsoever (yes I got the email 2 days after this post).

    • does the promo work for samsung pay using nfc and pin? or just only pay without pin?

  • Anyone get a follow up email a few days later offering $50/month for the next few months? I got one less than a week after getting the initial one per this deal.

    • I got the Apple Pay for 3 months (no activation needed) didn't load it, then got the Apple/Samsung/etc for 1 month (activation needed) . Is that what you got? The lack of activation with first offer worries me a bit

  • Offer is valid from receipt of email to offer end date. To qualify, you must fulfil on the terms of the offer. Up to $50 will be credited to your account when you spend a minimum of $1,000 in a calendar month, to a maximum of $150 credited during the promotional period. The cash back amount will be credited to your account within 30 days of the offer end date of 31 August 2018.

Not sure where to post this so doing it here. Warning - I just gave some charity on a go fund me type website, and was charged $4. I rang up and was told that it was considered as a cash advance so I was charged "the greater of 3% or $4". I had a good laugh at how cheeky they are. So if you give $5 charity you end up paying a $4 fee. Use another credit card.

I received the 5% cash back for May a few days ago. In case anyone is curious, I didn't spend the $1000 minimum, so I guess that answers that question.
