dmn those features around still ?

Bootloop has been fixed mate. Dw. Move on ;)

People have also moved on from Samsung batteries and are enjoying their new phones.

      • -4

Yes keep buying sheeple. Because this is OzThrowAwayYourCash not OzBargain.

Several LG phones had the issue and there have been other QC issues with LG phones. People are right to be wary.

As for the Samsung batteries, I wonder how many people lost out from that, and how many people have "moved on" after being burnt literally or metaphorically.

If we continue to buy junk that doesn't work or is dangerous, we encourage the production of nothing but junk. It is a race to the bottom.

        • +4

refuse to buy another LG. Not because of the Bootloop but how they washed their hands of the whole thing

        • @mouseman99:

I've got an LG G4 sitting right here in front of me that is my daily driver. Other than having a nice camera and speaker I can't say much more positive for it. The UI isn't terrible but it lags and hangs. I've had to do surgery on the idiotically placed power and volume buttons because if the flimsy metal rocker at the back gets bent they become unresponsive.

I am on my 3rd LG G4 phone not due to boot loop but because Bluetooth and WIFI died. On 2 different handsets. The second time was a nightmare and the phone spent a long time at their dodgy repairer waiting for parts. In the end I got a new phone but not without JBHiFi stuffing me around and changing my phone plan without my permissions. (I got put on a better plan in the end because Telstra couldn't or wouldn't undo the plan change). Hours of my time chasing this garbage. Not worth it at all. LG won't get another cent from me.

    • I can't believe how bad this is in LG phones. Bought one for $400'ish and a year later it was useless due to the boot loop. What the (profanity) is that shit?

      It's unfixable.

  • +4

With new 5G phones to be released next year, why spend a grand on a new phone now?
No bootloop? The battery kills it. 64gb also meh

    • I'll agree with 5g comment!

Not really much difference between this and last years model, i won't be upgrading….

But i mean really the jb hi-fi deal with the pixel 2, is sorta top of my list current!

    • +4

Which Telco is offering 5g next year?
And even if they did won't be everywhere.
You can deal with a 4g phone for another 2 years.

      • +1

There are still plenty of places that don't have 4G coverage. Also, 4G is perfectly suitable for now (not suggesting we won't need faster speeds soon).

        • +1

Don't worry about 5G's, this beast is rocking 7G's!!

  • +5

This phone's design is so stupid and derivative that it actually makes me angry looking at it. They should have refined the G6.

    • +1

Tend to agree. The G6 was such a clean and beautiful design direction for LG. Despite having had basically every LG flagship, issue free since 2012, this one is pretty hard to get excited about…

The V30 on the other hand will likely be my next once the price comes down a bit more.

      • +1

I have the v30 and its great. Light, good battery life, great wide angle camera, and POLED screen which i have no issues with. The fact that the G7 doesnt have the last feature and the wide angle is no where near as wide woukd rule me out of paying flagship price for this, not to mention the notch, but if those things dont concern you the addition of the speaker sounds like a good bonus.

Only real issue I had is it wont Bluetooth to a dodgy exercise tracker I have (probably the trackers fault) and it doesnt like the wifi on the Technicolor router I am currently using.

    • -3

      Copied iPhone X….

      • +7

        iPhone X copied Essential phone

    • Absolutely. LG was one of the first companies that uses the 18:9 ratio screen and nailed it in G6. But somehow they have to follow this stupid trend that Iphone introduced, having a notch and leaving a chin at the same time….

Anyhow, LG is dead to me because of the boot-loop issue I had and their terrible battery life.

      • Anyhow, LG is dead to me because of the boot-loop issue I had and their terrible battery life.

You own it have this issue or you heard it?

        I have no such issues.

  • P20 with worse camera and battery life but better processor?

    • +2

G7 also has a 3.5 mm headphone jack with Sabre ES9218 DAC and an amp that stomps on anything else currently available (G6, V30, V20 being obvious exceptions). This won’t matter to anyone other than audio enthusiasts, but with the measurements this thing puts out, it’s in the same realm as $700+ DAP’s. But again, most people won’t care about this, but it’s still one thing that sets LG apart.

      • +2

Also the wide angle second camera, two features that really set LG apart from the competition. Currently dual-carrying a G6 and an S9 (work phone) and really very much prefer the G6.

        • Have to agree with the wide angle shot, it is actually quite useful.

        • @wlqrichard:

Yeah, only the face camera not so good.

        • Mix 2S and P20 have wide angle as well now, although I am not sure on how many degrees.

  • Typo .. (RRP$299) ..

    • +1

I thought the same the $299 RRP is for the speaker I think that shouldn't be in the title.

  • +3

clearly the branding team at LG wasn't thinQing.

  • +1

Lost interest in this after I got my S8. Maybe in 12 months time i'll buy it for $450 during one of those 20% off sales :)

  • +5

Claim says you have to purchase from JB Hifi

    • +1

Great pickup I hope no one has ordered thinking they will get the speaker.

  • +1

You can only claim the bonus speaker if purchased from JBHIFI. Maybe you should remove any mention of the bonus speaker as they are not eligible :(

Android 8.0 planned upgrade to Android 9.0 (P)

My G6 still planned upgrade to Android 8 but 。。。。。

  • I hope we don't see all phones copy this notch stupidity.

    • Pixel 3 is our last hope of that.

    • HTC U12+ was just announced without a notch and it looks like a 2016 phone.

I agree, can't stand the notch, but at LEAST make the body to screen ratio the same as the S9 that came out HALF A YEAR AGO.

  • I was a big proponent of LG phones, and excused my wife's G3 screen malfunctioning - thinking it was caused by misuse. When the replacement G5 died after less than two years, in exactly the same manner, after being treated quite well, I decided that was it with LG phones for a while. My Xiaomi is more reliable and 80% cheaper. My wife's new Asus phone is just as reliable so far, and was less than half the price of the G6 at the time.

  • Interestingly, the LG G6 H870DS comes down to $506 with PASSWORD.

Still not convinced this is a good deal based on the specs and age of the phone. But I believe this is the cheapest its been?

  • I hope the software has improved.. my LgG6 dual sim was laggy out of the box. Was slower than my old S6.
And still waiting on Oreo which is coming "soon", and have had security updates for 6 months - which themselves are months old!

They're cheap and depreciate quick for a reason :(

    My advice is to wait.

  • Good. Now I can sit back and wait for a deal on the previous generation :)

  • Can you get "rid" of the notch like you can on the P20 Pro?

    • +2

It will be removed once Apple removed theirs on iphone x

      • so is that a no then?

  • Does anyone know if you can add multi user or Guest Mode on LG phones and this G7 in particular?

  • So this deal is back on again but this time with the PGADGET code. Seems to be a decent contender to the S9+.

OP, how sure are you if this is dual sim?

    • Yes Australian stock is dual SIM 4G/4G
