HX Outdoors TD-01 Fixed Blade Knife, US $52.51 (~AU $71.94) @ GearBest

156

This isn't on special, it just looks like a good deal from my research. The steel is D2 and the blade is a flat grind. There is a review by a dude who I think is generally good at finding weaknesses or negatives

There is an amazing mora knife and a great review. The mora knife looks awesome for the price and these dudes really test knives to their limit. I don't like scandi grind so I don't like the knife, but maybe you do.

Please see doweyy's link below for a better price

This will be perfect to go with the 2 guns I bought from here recently :)

      LOL

    • well now you will be able to handle the school or work bully better.

incase of home intrusions I keep the chef knife handy in several locations, it serves dual purpose, and it's easier to explain

"so you keep a knife in your bedroom"

"yes, I was going to do some late night shopping from bed and had it handy so I could compare models to what I already owned.

      LMFAO, comment of the day!

    • Of?

    • +13

It's a bloody (not actually) knife.

Stop with the "it is only for killing" posts. I would literally be dead every weekend without my knives. Some of us don't spend our free time in a shopping mall.

      • +1

        Playing knifey-spoony?

    • +3

      Stop being a (profanity).

  • +1

    Ban the knives!…

But seriously, decent looking knife. D2 is a great steel if heat treated well. Flat grind is easy foor noobs to sharpen.

Not a great price for it though. Heaps of knives of similar description on bladehq.

    • +1

I was after drop point, flat grind, D2 steel and not too expensive because I want to use it. I didn't see anything on bladehq, but I've missed stuff before. Oh, and fixed blade. There is this: https://www.bladehq.com/item--Smith-Sons-Brave-Fixed-Blade-K… but it comes in at AU$198.50 and then there is shipping on top.

So is this a legitimate bargain or hijacking OzB with a trolling post on the background of the gun posts?

    • No, it isn't a bargain. I've just been researching fixed blade knives with good steel. This seemed like a good deal for the knife, but doweyy already found it for cheaper.

    • Just waiting for a great Nerf gun deal now…

  • +8

Negging because OP admits "This isn't on special"

    This is Ozbargain. Not OzRRP.

  • -1

Haha … clearly a trolling post.
But so are the 2 gun posts (so don't delete this one as this would be double standards … just put a warning up that you can hide certain posts!) … keep voting!
This is the future of ozbargain!

Haven't found a cheaper price … so it deserves a positive! (Not like the 2 gun posts- similar prices were available!)

I think we need deals on bandages, surgery and coffins to even things out.

    • +1

This really isn't that sort of knife. Have a look at the youtube links to get an idea. It's more in line with prepping, general camping, outback travel type knife. It's a bit nerdy I admit, but I will use it. Just like the watches I have :) Most cooking knives would make much better tactical knives - the one I'm showing is just not a good shape for that (among other things)

  • -3

Use it for opening the gun and bullet packages from the previous 'deals' today

Hey did someone sign me up to Ozmurderer without me knowing??

Hey did someone sign me up to Ozmurderer without me knowing??

I guess you don't have any kitchen knives at home as these are used in most knife murders.

  • +2

If it's regular price it's not a bargain.

Where's JV when you need him??

  • Another review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RY6EqiMFK2w It really does look like a good knife and doweyy's link looks a great price

    • 0.25 grams total weight!

  • If the guns don't trigger them it's the knives.

    • Knives have plenty of practical uses beyond killing. I can't think of a single use for a gun beyond killing or "it's fun".

      • +2

Knives have plenty of practical uses beyond killing. I can't think of a single use for a gun beyond killing or "it's fun".

Hunting, protection, farming to name three and there are plenty more.

        • Farming is the only one of those that's actually a valid reason. Hunting is a needless hobby outside of Kangaroo hunting, 'protection' is not a valid reason unless you're incredibly paranoid.

All of them though, quite clearly, involve killing… There is no use for a gun besides killing, it's what guns are made to do. Knives are not even remotely the same thing.

        • @Georgevic:

Just because you feel very strongly about something doesn't always make you right, emotion can get in the way of clear and rational thought.

Hunting is a needless hobby outside of Kangaroo hunting

Many people see hunting/culling with firearms as an ethical alternative to baiting or releasing diseases to control ferals. Granted it has a much smaller effect on the population but death is generally instant as opposed to slowly and painfully over days or a week. Many hunters will also harvest free range organic meat in the process.

'protection' is not a valid reason unless you're incredibly paranoid.

Police, military, security etc are all incredibly paranoid?

There is no use for a gun besides killing,

Apart from maybe local, national and international sport…pistol, rifle and shotgun shooting are even part of the Olympics.

      • I can't think

        That's all you needed

      • i did competitive target shooting for many years and i live in the city .. my brother also owns a farm though rabbit population is now very low

would love to deer hunt as venison is very expensive to buy but it’s a time consuming way to get meat, and need enough refrigeration to space which is tricky in inner city with space so expensive, and beef prices aren’t getting cheaper.

i’m sure there are people who hunt their own meat and when they see the prices at the butcher feel comfortable in the money they have saved …. also depends if you don’t mind eating frozen meat, cryovac is an option.

If "This isn't on special" then why the hell did you post it on OzBargain? This is not OzPromo.com.au!!

    • Fair call. My thinking was the value of my research. I also believe doweyy's link is a bargain - nowhere else comes close to that price

  • +2

    I'm offended. A weapon. Omg

    • Well, don't be offended. It's really not that sort of knife - check out the youtube links. A pen can be a weapon, and then you can get a tactical pen, which is designed as a weapon. This is just a useful knife, not designed as a weapon.

  • +1

Don’t know why this has 10 upvotes when it isn’t even a good price.

  • +1

    Guns don't kill ppl..

    Ppl kill ppl!!

    • there are many different types of guns, some are designed to kill people eg pistols, assault rifles, etc and some could kill people but aren’t optimised for it eg under and over shot guns, bolt action rifles …..

cars seem to have become the weapon of choice for harming people as of late, and although most passenger cars are designed to throw pedestrians over the bonnet and roof as a design rule, bull bars and many 4x4 and all vans and trucks are designed in such a way as to run over pedestrians and minimise car damage in the process eg windscreen damage….. nobody is banning bull bars to save lives.

Seems to be problems with this merchant.

Gearbest should be banned - AGAIN

Gearbest Scammed me of $800 and refuse to fix after acknowledging problem

Higher prices are only the beginning.

  • +1

Well, I bought from fasttech. Awesome price - cheaper than anywhere else by quite a bit. Thanks again doweyy
