Bear Escape Compound Bow $899.95 + Free Shipping (Was $1,199.95) @ Apex Hunting

1532

The Escape is Bear's 2016 flagship model and its claim to fame is blazing fast speed.

Coming in with an IBO of 350 FPS isn't the only reason to shoot an Escape but it's definitely a major plus.

With a riser made of strong 7075 aluminium, the Escape weighs in at only 4 pounds, making it super rigid and incredibly tough.

The H-15 Hybrid cam generates a ton of energy, all while being smooth to draw and very easy to let down.

At 32 inches axle to axle, the Escape isn't too short that it won't perform but not too long in a close quarters hunting situation.

With a 6" brace height the Escape hammers in performance but still feels forgiving due to the H-15 Hybrid adjustable cam system.

15 pounds of draw weight adjustability is a great feature, allowing for supreme tunability.

Dual string suppressors and rubber vibration dampeners installed into the riser make the Escape super quiet with almost no hand shock after the shot.

The Bear Escape, engineered with intenseness and the ability to deliver an arrow accurately at 350 fps.

It comes in RealTree Xtra Green camo, Shadow Black, Sand and Olive.

One of the new 2016 Bear models, the Escape is a high end hunting bow that will set the standard.

The only ones getting trolled are the snowflakes. At the end of the day, a deal is a deal. And if it annoys snowflakes, the deal is that much better.

  • I assume (being totally without any experience) that this is really a hunting weapon?

Would it be suitable to join an archery club with? (yeah, i know i should research, but hey, its a bow on sale!)

EDIT, a rudimentary google suggests that no, this isnt what i am looking for.

Compound bows are good in that they have more power than a users actual pulling strength… if that makes sense to a layman.

However they are also dangerous to use if you don’t know how to properly use because of that fact. Dry firing a compound bow and stuff is a no no.

If you do intend to use one, experience or training can only be your friend.

      Also don’t aim at people.

      • Thanks, its the sort of thing i'd go to a club for/with anyway.

One of those things always wanted to try, but kept putting off…

        Cheers!

        • I used a compound bow for targets (don't really do it anymore), which is pretty fun. Without much experience you can be fairly accurate. But just using a traditional or recurve bow I think is even more fun, and you will feel more like Robin Hood than Rambo. Much cheaper too, though if you are like me you will spend more time trying to find your arrows after missing the target.

        • If you plan on competing, make sure you pick the option with maximum 60lbs draw weight. From what I remember, 60lbs is the maximum draw weight allowed in target competitions.

Speaking as a lifelong physics teacher, with a special interest in Newtonian mechanics and kinematics, you're mixing up your physical quantities here.

Strength of pull is a force. Force is a vector. A vector has magnitude and direction. In SI units, force is measured in newtons.

Power is a scalar. A scalar has magnitude but no direction. In SI units, power is measured in watts. Energy is a scalar. Energy is measured in joules. Work is a scalar, also measured in joules.

If I do work on an external system, then I may increase the kinetic energy or the potential energy or both of the external system.

To pull a bow string and bend the bow, requires strength, a force measured in newtons. As I bend the bow, I do work on the bow. The total work I do on the bow is the integral of the force I apply and the displacement (a vector, measured in metres) of the bow at that force.

The instantaneous rate at which I do work on the bow is my instantaneous power measured in watts. The mean average rate at which I do work (total work divided by time taken) is my average power. My highest instantaneous power is my maximal power.

The work I do on the bow is turned into thermal energy (aka 'heat'), acoustic energy (aka sound) and stored or potential energy. When I release the bow string, the energy stored in the bow rapidly straightens the bow and propels the arrow of a given mass m (mass being a scalar measured in kilograms) with a velocity v (velocity being a vector) with an initial momentum mv (momentum being a vector).

        • But do you know how a compound bow differs from a normal bow though?

        • @ATangk:
The only modifier to the process is the addition of rotating cams on the end of each limb that at the end of the rotation, provides a counter force to the potential energy exerted by the deformation of the limbs. It does this with a clever pulley system from the cam to the opposite limb.

          Also know as a let-off.

    • The League is also recruiting, submit your resume.

      • Can I be Batman

        • Not if you’re planning to use a bow.

Everyone's clean out of outrage @choodie, but nice try.

    • Sure, but you're still here.

A bargain is a bargain. Don't like it, go to another post or campaign to get it banned. Otherwise, don't @me.

      • Show some respect - next time address me as @TheGhostWhoWalks, or simply Phantom or i'll set Devil onto you.

        • +1

Hey, The Phantom is partial to a nice firearm, so what's the problem?

        • @choodi: I'm in law enforcement, that's why. It's also why i've got @Devil at my side.

    • I think they are on their diva sabbaticals.

      • No they just choose their battles.
One reason they are so successful.

And good execution, though the veranda could use a paint.

  • +6

thought this was ozbargain not oz-making-a-statement

    • Is it not a bargain?

      • +13

look man, i'm poor and i just want to look at cheap stuff and it makes me feel good
if i wanted to talk politics or gun/weapon rights on a bargain site i'd go to a weapons marketplace forum literally anywhere else on the internet

you're poop-stirring and testing the mods trying to antagonize them and the community when they do something about this post

        • +6

          Hey man, so do I.

This is a bargain and there are a bunch of people who like archery and bow hunting. It's an expensive sport, so this will probably be of interest to a heap of people who are into the sport.

        • Didn't you click on a link with a picture of a crossbow and crossbow written quite clearly?

        • @Frugal Rock: ??????

Who clicked on a crossbow link?

        • +3

Exley; a bargain is a bargain. Why do we need to get political over a bow?

        • +1

          @choodi:
Correct me, dare ye? Compound bows at 20 paces! :p

Sassa frazza razza Zelda wiimote weapons training.

        • @Frugal Rock: Mine's bigger than yours

        • +3

          @choodi:
I hold it sideways, like a gangsta. That's how I roll. The wiimote, I mean.

        • @Frugal Rock: Ahhhh, so it actually IS all about how you use it that matters!

  • No recurve? No thanks.

  • +7

Outrage outrage outrage! I don't like something so no one else should be exposed to it!

    • -2

try that with fat shaming and see who listens.

      • What are you saying, banning legal items from Ozbargain is like fat shaming?

  • +9

Thanks OP. Just got voted tribute for my District. This should come in handy.

  • Wow only 350fps, my 20 year old Oregon with carbon limbs and round target wheels did 370, with extreme cams like that it should push or exceed 400

That eBay link was not local stock.

Happy for you to find some other alternatives that are cheaper though.

      • -4

That eBay link was not local stock.

        What's wrong with that?

    • +4

clearly, you are trolling with a neg that doesn't fit.

    • +2

If you don’t deem it a bargain, then you feel free to provide cheaper alternatives as proof. The onus isn’t on the op to do that. Get over yourself, SJW.

    • +5

Invalid use of Neg. Reported. 25% off is a bargain. The onus is on your @Rupture to post a valid counter that this is not a bargain/deal.

  • +3

    Here we bow again…

  • +1

This will go nicely with the sight posted earlier

  • +2

Nice work, trying to get archery bargains banned for the community as well?

    • +5

archery is a legitimate olympic sport … lets not deprive our next generation of olympians to pick up a bargain and maybe bring home the gold.

      • +3

Shame we couldn't do the same for our shooters.

      • +2

Shooting is also a legitimate olympic sport that Australia excels in compared to how little we invest in it.

  • +1

ozbargain is becoming internet..where do we go now!!

  • +1

Semi-automatic hunting bow eh? Nothing a bump stock can't fix.

    • Do you have a bipod to go with that?

  • how far will this go haha

    • +3

I reckon with the right trajectory you could get a few hundred metres out of it

  • +1

All that is missing is a red dot sight (which ahem.. looks oddly enough looks like another red dot sight posted previously) for the bow like this one here which is also discounted and technically a bargain: http://www.extremeoutdoorsports.com.au/hunting/optics-aand-s…

  • +5

(profanity) me, deal or not, the trolls are out in force this week. Votes (both up and down) are far exceeding any genuine interest in these weapons.

It's almost as if everyone needs to lay off the Ribena and have some time out to reflect that positing these, upvoting or downvoting when you have no interest, is a grand waste of everyone's time.

The problem is that some idiot thinks it's funny to post, vote or neg, then fire is fought with fire in terms of more unwarranted use of up and down votes. It's not productive. And it's certainly not funny.

    • +4

A bargain is a bargain. Our next Olympic gold medalist could be borne out of this bargain.

    • I'm guessing you're not in the market for a bow, then?

      • +2

I'm not, and nor are most of the at-present 46 upvoters.

        • But they might be in the market now that they can get a good bow for a bargain price.

    • better they troll here amongst the mature adults than bully kids online.

    • Some men just want to watch the world burn

      — alfred

    • And then when you factor in $90USD shipping it works out to be ~$899 AUD..

    • With shipping, it comes up as $950. It is a deal. Stop inappropriate negging.

  • +1

Is this a good weapon for home defense against potential home intruders (i.e: drop bears, wombat, angry mistresses)???

    • Nah, flight is definitely better than fight in those circumstances.

    • I own a bow but keep a knife in the bedroom … bow would only be good if they are running away and your bow and the arrow were handy and not in a case.

    • Wouldn't think a bow like this would be good for fast moving short range targets.

Probably great for killing an animal with far less efficiency for both the hunter and the prey, than the other options out there, in the name of rediscovering our primal nature by harnessing the technological advantages that were available in 2016.

Might be good for archery too.

  • +6

this site is turning into oz weaponbargain

site is clearly being trolled lol

    • +2

      Is it not a bargain?

      • +6

Is it not intended to troll?

        • +1

Nope. It's a genuine bargain. Why would it be a troll?

        • +2

          shhh, you'll upset his feelings.

        • +3

@choodi: I honestly agree that it is a genuine bargain. Do you honestly say your intention is not to troll?

        • +1

@choodi: because you're upset about guns being banned hence went out of your way to find a genuine bargain to disguise the fact you're butthurtt. even though it's a genuine bargain, you're still trying to make a political statement. don't play stupid

        • +4

Are we not here to share bargains? Why does the item matter if it is a bargain? Stop trying to politicise everything please.

        • @choodi: it's such a shame when people stir this trouble but won't stand by their convictions. It is more than obvious to everyone here what your original intent was but you won't be man/woman enough to stand up for it.

        • +4

@Covfefe: What are you even doing in this post if you're not interested in the bargain?

You do realise the only reason this post has blown up like this is because a bunch of people with a political agenda have come in here to try to call this a troll post.

The fact is that this is a genuine bargain on legal and legitimate sporting equipment. It's not a troll post and I don't need to explain myself to anyone.

Would I need to defend my post if it was about fishing rods? No way.

        • +1

Lots of people own archery gear …. including many on Oz bargain I'd say.

Lots of people just do target shooting (like me), I don't think it's trolling, I just don't think its a bargain as I need a long draw length so it would not fit me if I was after one which I'm not …. I also don't neg when a deal has runners that don't fit me as they are limited sizes.

        • -4

          @choodi: gutless

        • +1

          @Covfefe:

Hahaha. You tried to get choodi to admit your unfounded accusation of being a troll twice, and when you failed you resorted to a GUTLESS insult, lol. I bet your tears are delicious.

Is Covfefe trolling the honourable President Trump? Sir! How dare you!?!

  • +1

Good deal but it seems to me there's a re-branding going on. When does it change to Ozhunting?

    • +1

      When it becomes Ozbargain Hunting.

There is something that feels different when you hunted a bargain instead of it being handed to you.

This will be good when i go camping with my new telescope. If you don't like this deal then don't post on it?

  • +7

In the past year I've been interested in getting into archery and looking to buy a bow (a Bear one at that) so this post is definitely of interest to me. Why the hell shouldnt it be here? Are we all now so precious that archery, totally legal, doesnt require a licence, an Olympic sport and something I did at a school camp when I was like 12 is too controversial? Please.
People will be reporting alcohol next.

    • +1

      Glad to be of service.

    • -8

The debate is not about whether the deal is a bargain or not. It is not about whether any particular item should be posted or not. The debate is over whether this was intended to troll. It is clearly evident that it was and now OP is too scared to stand by their intent using the "I don't have to explain myself" cop out.

      • -6

100% troll. Confirmed by the OP responding to all the pretend grateful buyers with pretend “glad to be of service”.

I’ve seen better trolls on OCAU.

        • +6

@Skramit Keep moving those goal posts. Why do you get to decide what is and is not done with honest intentions?

All this holier-than-thou garbage has a decidedly fascist stink to it. "I don't agree with you, therefore I think it should be banned". When are we renaming this place OzNazi?

        • -8

          @choodi: lol

There’s an old saying when you call out a troll he calls you a nazi. Something like that anyway.

        • +2

          @Skramit:

You have an unfounded assumption. If your baseless accusation had any merit, then the post wouldn't still be up would it? Buh-byeeeee
