[Expired] $10 Credit to Gamesplus So You Can Get Free Xbox, PS3, Wii Accessories

419

This was posted a month ago about a $10 sign up credit at gamesplus.com.au

It appears they have no 200 customer limit on the $10 sign up credit and they dont detect multiple accounts.
Also good for cheap xbox games, play and charge kits etc.
Dont abuse multiple account creating, as they may take down deal. Thanks

P.S. First post

Mod: Edited title for clarity. This has been posted before but as a side note.

        what about like members-only?

  • +5

I'm glad it's been removed i've had such good dealings with the site now a few ozbastards come and screw it all up…

    • +1

Indeed. Was going to order a game tonight but it's too late now.

  • +1

Login and check your order status. Mine got cancelled. Oh wells.

    • Was your order something paid for or was it a freebie? Just wondering if they cancel orders of game/console etc where people have actually paid.

      • mine was the freebie. hdmi cable. lol.

      • +1

People who actually had to pay the difference between the discount and actual price should have it sent. Mine is marked shipped for a Gamecube controller for the wii.

        • Isn't that what we all did?

        • +2

Checked my MS Points - shipped.
These guys have a good attitude I reckon.

Shopbot: Nope, see original post, people used it to get freebies.

        • +2

Ah thanks for the reply. If only I ordered sooner… or if only there were less exploiters.

  • +1

my order also cancelled. Ozbargain effect.

    • yeh mine was cancelled too…

  • +1

    Another 'ozbargained' company ;)

Hi Guys, Unfortunately due to the HIGH demand and to the many people trying to exploit our generous deal we have had to withdraw this promotion. On top of this if you selected to pay via Direct Deposit your order has been cancelled… Credit Card & Pay Pal payments have been unaffected and will process just fine either this afternoon or tomorrow :)

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this for those of you who played by the rules and we applaud those of you who stuck up for the online/gaming community and understood that this deal was a gesture of goodwill.

Feel free to join our Facebook/Twitter for promotions/competitions in the future and to win $500 :D

      should have played fair guys…

    • +1

So are you going to refund the credit on peoples accounts?

    • +3

I would like to thank you for a good deal although I feel sorry for you for all the people who abused it. Maybe do it again sometime but valid on minimum of $20 orders or something, or $15. Your prices seem to be pretty good already though so that's good

    • i agree there was definitely some degree of "abuse" going on…but I don't see how you can label it "exploitation" when many orders were placed within the guidelines of your site and promotion (ie. there weren't many at all).

Free $10 credit on sign up, no restrictions on minimum order value, and free shipping sitewide. There was nothing stipulated about how to use the $10 credit either. Basically the above spiel is saying you are only honouring the orders that had some dollar value.

So the only "exploitation" I can see here is single users signing up on several accounts to deliver to the same address.

Perhaps this is a case that Games Plus could take it on the chin and learn a lesson. (more control on the "first 200 sign ups", clearer terms and conditions, etc). I find it a little insulting that the first reaction is to blame it on the ozbargain community for jumping on what seemed like a legitimate bargain - seeing as the OP received ALL their items.

In the past there have been errors by retailers, some bit the bullet and honoured the deals, some decided to deny the deals due to "error". It seems Games PLus is lucky they have the goodwill of so many members already and decent prices, otherwise this may have turned out differently.

sorry for the rant, feel free to comment, vote up or down accordingly.

      • +1

        Agree 100%.

I made one account and ordered something, legit.

      • +6

Good point. The onus is definitely on the retailer to protect themselves and have terms and conditions in place to prevent abuse of the deal. However, coming on here and actively encouraging this unethical behaviour and even ranting about it(especially by the OP) is unfair for everyone. This was a clear loophole and i commend GP for their dignified response and commitment to fulfill all/most of the existing genuine orders placed.
Multiple accounts/aliases for a single residential address is a dead giveaway to abuse of the promo and it should be easy for them to identify this in their CRM database. Let's hope they can offer the same awesome offers in the future, albeit with tighter control and no obvious loopholes that might encourage 'rorting of the system'. Now we all got shutdown, I knew this would happen :(

damn this sucks. sick of having orders cancelled after i go through the process of ordering :(.

  • +3

Well there goes my MSP. Some people really have no morals to abuse the good will of a company these days.

    • +1

If it was a giant conglomerate retailer like Woolworths Division or HN I would probably say "screw them for making a mistake, let them pay" but hurting the independent/small business like these guys is not very nice.

  • So it WASN'T the fact that I paid to get something, it was the fact I paid by card?
    Damn.

  • Don't know about you guys - but my order has been cancelled

    Received below email

    Hello ####,

Order #******* has now been CANCELLED. This could be for a variety of reasons including user request, payment failure or our inability to supply your products.

If you have any further questions regarding this cancellation, please contact us at [email protected].

    Thankyou for shopping with us.

I got what I wanted and luckily I paid by paypal.

    I negged due to abusers

  • +1

I didn't realise there were any rules to play by, except for the offer only applying to the first 200. It's annoying that online stores allow these glitches happen (in the same way as the Wine Maker's Choice promo). If you only want the promo to be available to the first 200, then shut it down once that quota has been reached.

  • +2

I disagree with the negative that some people have marked this as. This was a good deal. The OP didn't help the cause by what he wrote doesn't make the deal negative. We should report posts when they say to abuse so they either get taken down or amended.

    • I got receipt, then I got cancellation email.
      Has to be a neg.

    • +4

I negged the deal because of the OP's arrogance and brazen disregard of ethical behaviour.

      • I disagree. How many people exploited the cadbury free bar promo. That post got over 450 positives.

  • Just got an order cancellation email, with no explanation. Fair enough, the promotion is over, but at least state something in the email. Ah well, no loss.

    • yeah that is pretty annoying, they should have some kind of monitoring to see when the 200 is done and then stop the offer.. not just let people spend time browsing the site and then filling out the whole registration and ordering process, and even get ORDER confirmation!! only to send a .. well.. good for nothing email explaining nothing :)

      • Maybe they decided to extend the offer post 200 because it was so popular.
It was poorly managed though and now the company must lick their wounds and prevent it from reoccurring in the future.

  • yep my order is now cancelled

  • +2

Made an order, paid by paypal and item status now changed to shipped. thanks gamesplus

    • just an update. received the the wireless pc controller and using it to play Race driver GRID. paid $15 after $10 discount and free shipping :)

  • ordered a ~$33 game and paid ~$23. hope it goes through.

  • well this should a dupe and abuse anyway. look at mod's notice on OP, it was posted a while ago, and in the comments ppl were using it to get freebie…now OP posted again for freebie~

Will Gamesplus dlete the the information they have collected for the people whose orders were cancelled?

    • +1

      why?

      • He seems to be implying that they now have a large number of email addresses and possibly payment details of people who's orders were cancelled. If not for the cancelled promotion, the company would not have all of those customer details.

Basically, the shop has a lot more addresses to advertise that were collected from people expecting to receive goods rather than signing up to receive deals.

        • +4

Information collected via the website is used for legitimate purposes such as order processing and delivering. We require an email address as a contact point for notifying customers of their order status. Users are provided with the option to join the mailing list, and can unsubscribe at any time. As stated on our website, GamesPlus respects your privacy – we will not provide this information to anyone else. Our mailing list is ONLY used by us to inform the reader about our game releases/Deals/Promotions.

We DO NOT collect payment details or store card information as we use a secure third party for all payment transactions e.g. Pay Pal or Eway.

In saying this we honoured ALL legitimate Pay Pal & Credit Card orders and tried to honour some/most of the direct deposit orders but we have had to cancel orders due to the high number of orders containing incomplete/duplicated or fake information. We realise this has been an inconvenience for a number of people, and we request you please accept our apologies for this.

We apologize again for the inconvenience caused by this for those legit customers affected and again we thank the community for understanding & support & defending there morals. 

Please note my neutral tone and lack of a vote - I am neither supporting or challenging his point of view, just trying to explain what I think laser was getting at for Todger's benefit.

  • I tried to buy something earlier today (without scamming them) and the discount wasn't applied - burned a REAL customer here…. wasted my time signing up.

  • +3

Bought Brutal legend off these guys last week and had the credit applied.
Was happy with the experience. fixed the complaint i made about the shopping cart too!

  • -5

I was also one of the legit customers that got screwed over.

I believe it's Gamesplus' responsibility to weed out secondary accounts (e.g. red flag comes up when twenty accounts have the same mailing address) and I honestly am now wondering whether the whole motive behind the promotion was to drive traffic to their website and they, in fact, were never planning on honouring the credit. You can argue that it's the "ozbargain effect", but you'd have to be pretty damn stupid not to realise what would happen when you run a promotion like that.

I really wish I could cast negative votes right now…

    • +2

Of course they were trying to drive traffic to the website. I ordered a Blu-Ray from them with the $10 credit about a month ago and it arrived with no issues. It was a good promotion but then people had to go and abuse it.

  • +1

Ordered yesterday, received today. Only ever had this fast through Apple.
    Nicely done.
