Product is in great condition, this classification is reserved for Notebooks that will show evidence of heavier use that will include scuffing, heavier scratches, dents and chips on external surfaces, wear and tear will be visible on palm rest, keyboard and touchpad.

OP, I don't quite get how dents and chips would be considered "in great condition"? Otherwise great price since I couldn't find refurb'd machines around this price.

Was just about to copy/paste the same thing - this is extremely misleading. Downvoting on the basis of this.

I was like wow. What a deal let’s get this. Thank god I saw your comment

Apologies for the inconvenience yes that the same product but in different condition and which is "Excellent condition" and URL is different that is why price was also different.

We do recommend your input and will take care of the same in future.

        Regards
        Renewd

      • Thanks for the comment. Was about to commit to buy.

Hi here is another one for you in excellent condition

      https://renewd.com.au/products/apple-macbook-pro-a1502-13-3-…

      Price for @999

Thanks OP. However, even excellent condition isn't quite "excellent" because of scuffing and scratches. May wish to rework the condition descriptions/categories as those are highly misleading.

    Intel Core i5-5257U, still $900?

    • +4

Yep that's MacBook Pros for you

      • hmm, is this the series with the butterfly key mechanism issue, and what are the options for warranty … can you get apple care if not original owner or if applecare expired when you bought ?

might be a nice update from my macbook air to a higher res screen.

        • No. This is the 2015 model with the normal scissor switches. Only MBP 2016/2017 and MacBook 12" have the butterfly switch.

I wish refurb sites had photos of actual items.

Sure it’s more work for them but it gives potential customers a look at what they’re getting and if they’re willing to live with scratches, dings etc.

Yea I wouldn't touch this. Not with WWDC tomorrow at 3am, which might have a new lineup.

Seller is trying to get rid of 5 year old Mac's before they are pushed further down. Wait until Friday were they will be even less.

  • Just as a reminder if these are being sold and shipping from Australia, DO NOT pay extra for warranty. We are covered by consumer law for TWO years free of pay and longer if its a premium machine that you can expect to last longer. (this does include refurbished goods)

  • Shame they jacked up the price, ordered an macbook air in excellent condition for $550 last month, was given a retina macbook pro instead. The item was like new with no dent and scratches.

    A lay person would expect:

    • Excellent condition = like new
    • Great condition = you wouldn't find more than one - two tiny marks and only if you looked really hard
    • Good condition = a few scratches here and there but not too many, looks like it has been reasonably looked after
    • Used condition = what you describe as "excellent condition"
    • Poor condition = what you describe as "great condition"
    • In my opinion, the list you have prepared is equally as bad as the vendor's. There is not normally a "great" condition for used products. In general, it's: excellent, very good, good, fair poor. Or the letter grading scheme. When any electrical item is refurbished, it will end up classified as Grade A, B or C.

I don't think that anyone is arguing about the descriptions like "this classification is reserved for Notebooks that show evidence of previous use that may include minimal scuffing, light scratches on external / Internal surfaces, minimal wear on palm rest, keyboard and touchpad."

In my opinion, the vendor's scale "Excellent Plus" would be better understood as excellent. Excellent should probably be "very good". "Great" should be "Good", "Good" is "Fair", etc. But really the problem is a failure to use a standard scheme for choosing these descriptive terms. If the vendor would just use some standard rather than making it up themselves, it would help everyone. They could then come on here and point us to a site that has photos of comparative products so we aren't buying sight unseen. For example https://www.smashteckphones.ie/understanding-phone-grading show a photo comparing A Grade to B Grade.

As someone who recently purchased an HP Spectre off Renewd I can tell you that Excellent means what it says. The computer was faultless and looked brand new. I can't speak for other gradings though. I do expect to be buying from them again.

I too bought the same machine and it is mint. There was however a small fan issue. Returned to vendor free postage and they have repaired with no issues and it is due back tomorrow. Just wanted to post feedback as i was a bit worried about buying a second hand machine online but these have been a quality retailer.

      • I have bought several refurbished machines (HP ProBooks) off graysonline auctions over the last decade however I got tired of the last minute bidders piping me and the ridiculous add-on charges that make the eventual prices too high. This will be my go-to source as long as they continue to keep the prices fair and the service good.

Just to add laptop arrived back and fan issue is resolved. Very impressed with Renewed’s customer service and the laptop.

  • Definately not liking those prices.
I know macs technically hold value for a while because of demand, but that price for a "good" (second lowest condition) is absurd.
I've bought a 2015 13" pro and replaced the screen for just over the cost of your 2013 13" pro and mine is in far better condition.
