    $4.91 a month

  • FYI Red Dead Redemption 1 is <$17

  • Thanks OP! It appears to apply to the digital code too.

    • +1

      Cheers. I've updated the deal.

(I jumped the gun and ordered the physical card… ah well, guess I'll have to wait a little).

      • Just confirmed with a Microsoft support assistant; It applies to both the physical and digital codes of the 3 month subscription only.

  • limited to one offer per account …..so efftively pay for 3 mths get 6 mths ……

had hoped to stack and get about 2 years worth but looks like that won’t be the case.

so still need CDkeys at $61 for 12 mth fill ups.

  • Was prompted to enable "auto renew" for an extra month making it 7 months in total. Just need to remember to switch that off…. ;-)

    • +3

      Switch it off immediately :)

      • You betcha. Also got notified that $4 cashback should be on my way eventually. So $25.95 for 7 months. Win. :-)

        • +1

can you do the same thing for the free 3 months? so do 3 months - 1 month free than wait til expired and claim the free 3 months and another month free?

  • Limited time offer
Get 3-month Xbox Live digital code (emailed on the 20th of June)
    Description
Get 1 month of unlimited online multiplayer gaming plus access to thousands of HD films and TV programmes. With Xbox Live Gold, you get the most advanced multiplayer, free games, exclusive member discounts of up to 50-75% on games in the Xbox Store and more.*

Does this also work with the 1 month? Ie get 4 months for the price of 1?

Haven't bought but seems the offer is still there when I click between 1, 3 and 12 months

    • +1

No, T&Cs say 'Offer subject to the purchase of a 3 month Xbox Live Subscription during the Offer Period'

  • doubt works with 1mth deal nosy will buy 3 mths , and instead they will sell the 3 mth promo code on CDkeys ……

their web sites shows 3 mth card for the deal and i think that is buy 3 mths.

thing is can it be stacked if bought. as separate transactions or it’s one offer per account ?

chat with microsoft said buy as seperate transaction and each 3 mth gets promo ….. did they understand what i was asking ?
t&c says one per customer …..

  • +3

There was a similar offer in January, and I am still chasing up Microsoft about not sending the extra 3 month code.

    • Just realised I think I am in the same boat…

    • Same, have chased them up a couple times about it now with no luck.

    • +2

Same. Followed up again last week and got another 1 month extension. They assured me that the keys will still be sent out soon… Tbh they have given me 2 free months now so I'm moving on but won't bother with this deal.

  • If you buy the physical 3 month card, do you have to redeem that during the period to get the extra 3 months, or does the code come regardless and all need to just be redeemed by the 31st july?

    • You just need to redeem the bonus 3 month code by 31st July.

  • For me - i could get a 12month membership and get a free month for activating auto renewal and apparently get a 3 month code delivered on the 20th-6-18.

16 months for $79.95. Seems like a good deal.

    • Good luck! I thought about that, but the Ts and Cs seemed to indicate the 3 month code was just when you got the 3 month sub, although it was on the same page so I reckon if you don't get it you could argue the point. Maybe take a screen shot of the page showing the 12 month with the 3 month bonus just in case…..

    • Seems like a good deal.

      hint: it's not

      • +1

yeah i screen-shotted it. Will argue it if don't see anything on the 20th

        https://photos.app.goo.gl/etcI7Kn4ucxjDv6z1

        • I did the same but good on you for posting it here should anybody else need it.

        • Thank you sooooooooo much!!

They said they have no record of the offer and asked me to send through a screenshot!

          Brilliant work.

Never buying direct from Microsoft again.

  • +2

Is the page not working for other people now? Just getting a "page cannot be found" error message.

    • Yup, the link doesn't work.

      • Surely can't be OzBargained?

        • +2

offer is supposed to be for AU, might be people from other places jumping on and the work experience kid needs to fix the offer or terms or something ….

        • Yeah I reckon it's been taken down until they can fix whatever problem has arisen

    • Dead link

MS chat say Xbox Gold Live page back up in 2-4 hours (didn’t ask about if the deal would be back)

      • hopefully the deal comes back!

  • Same here

  • Any recommendations on somewhere reputable where we can get 12 months at a reasonable price?

    • +1

$62 at CDkeys is about as good as it gets right now, which is why this deal is good …. cheaper than 12 mth deal and you have 6 mths to see if a good 12 mth deal comes up in the meantime.

haven't seen any $56 deals in a while from sites I buy games from.

the last Gamesdeal offer …. never got code so Paypal refunded, and Gamesdeal added extra for credit card and paypal so came to $62 anyway ….

if this 3 mth deal with 3 mths free pops back up it's ideal,

      • Thanks garage sale. I'm sure I've picked some up from CDkeys previously and haven't had any issues, nor seen any extraordinary 12 month deals in a while.

I normally like to stack a few years if I see a decent deal as it feels that Gold subscription is getting more expensive (naturally). Concerned it might reach ridiculously expensive level.

        • yeah, just (15 mins ago) grabbed 12 mths global off G2A for $55 on paypal ….so I'm good now till jan 2020 ….

Never had problems on CD keys either.

Game pass is killing me though …. it's monthly about $10, got 3 mths free with an extra Xbox S we bought …. $120 year is abit expensive , but better than being limited to buying 2 games per year I guess.

need game pass as 12 mth buy to get price down :-(

        • +1

@garage sale: Buying off G2A is really rolling the dice, so many dodgy sellers…

        • @garage sale:

          Your household must churn through alot of games! Assuming you're also claiming Games With Gold every month. Have you considered a 12 month EA access pass instead;

          https://www.cdkeys.com/xbox-live/memberships/ea-access-12-mo…

I realise there are a ton of sports titles on there but it would cost you less then a quarter of what you would pay for 12 months of Game Pass and they slowly seem to be more adding more games (50 titles currently available). Sure, it's about half of the titles you have access to with Game Pass but it's just a suggestion….and trying to save you some money in the process.

  • Stores crashed from what I can tell as it everything'snot allowing me to buy or look at (was looking at Xbox Gold game deals)

  • Physical card works.

  • working again

    • Yup!!! YAY

  • $24.95 after $5 cash back from Shopback? https://www.shopback.com.au/microsoft

    • Interestingly I paid $29.95.. but ShopBack says I’m getting $9.50 back. So close to $20 for six months of Xbox Gold.

    • +1

I should have switched to shopback. Cashrewards is $4 per their website, but confirmation email was only $3 :(

  • I just purchased and added Xbox live to my account just the other day 12 months, should have taken them up on the offer of one month free when adding it but never did.
As this is offering 3 months free I take im still ok to buy and add to my current 12 months so I will have then 15 months with 3 future months later.
I also have $11 lying in my account I take this credit carrys over from my past 12 months to this one I got few days back and if so then would I not then get this for $18.95.
    Or is there any point.

  • I got another month free by enabling recurring payments too.

  • Just confirming folks - there's nothing one needs to do to qualify for the bonus 3mth code other than purchase from their page during the offer period is there? Ie. Nothing further to add to your cart? Just make the purchase and on, or about, 20 June you will receive the bonus code?

    • I'm hoping so.

I went a bit quick and purchased the physical card, not knowing at the time that it applied to the digital code as well.

Luckily my subscription doesn't expire until early next month.

I guess if we don't receive the bonus 3 months 20/06 we can all start harassing them.

      • My current subscription will end next month. If I buy this, does the 3-month subscription apply straightway or I can wait until my current subscription expire and then activate the 3-month subscription?

        • +2

Apply it straight away and it will stack.

  • Will report back on the 20th! thanks op!

  • trying to redeem code, but the 'NEXT' button stays grey…
    nevermind.. missed a letter..der

  • I used cash rewards and just got an email saying the expected cash back is $13!

Not sure what that's all about. I used the AMEX deal as well.

    • Can you tell us which cash back you used? Cheers

Edit: Oops I see you said cash rewards so never mind (hopefully not as generic for cash back).

  • Anyone receive the email with second code?

    • Not yet

      • Haven't received it yet either.

Contacted MS via chat and they said it is a known issue.

They escalated my case and should hear back in the next day or so.

        Pain in the ar$e.

        • "…they said it is a known issue."

FFS, you think they would have their shit sorted by now!

    • I did a chat and they placed an order for a 3 month code and issued it to me for free. They need to use some "tool" that does that.

      • Well done!

I did a chat too and was told the codes are sent out in waves. Some were sent on the 20th and others are still to come. I was promised a follow up chat on Friday if it hasn't arrived.

      • Same, I went on to live chat and they placed a free order for a 3 month code. It prompted me to enable auto-renew to get an additional 1 month for free so I did and then promptly switched it off.

      • Went on chat. Not sure if it was a waste of time or not. Will see if they sort it.

Really annoys me when companies don't come good on agreements with consumers and everyone ends up wasting time following up. I would never buy a 3-month card ordinarily.

        Hopefully all comes through soon.

      • +1

Yep. Just got a call from Microsoft as a follow up to webchat.

They did free order for 3 month subscription.

        • Good to hear mate. At least they followed through.

  • No email, I have to do it by chat too

so 8 months all up. not bad

    • Plus I used my AMEX cashback deal so I got $5.99 back and I'm expecting some cashback from Shopback.

  • Didn't receive bonus code, MS recharged $29.95 to my account for this issue.

  • Didn't receive code, chat support got me one for free. When I applied it, I had the option of "bonus one month when you set up a subscription". I did, and then canceled the subscription straight after. So I got 4 months free instead of 3.

  • Also had to contact them through web chat to get the 3 months added to the account. Comes as a subscription. Remember to turn it off…

    • I had the option to either apply it as a subscription (in which case I got a bonus month) or no subscription.

  • No email here either. So I need to get on chat?

Got on live chat for 30 minutes and they finally said to wait 3-5 days for it to come.

    • Don't believe them mate - seems Microsoft is trying to wiggle out of the offer for some. Don't know why really.

I purchased this extension only because of the bonus months. If I don't get this sorted today I think I'll be after a refund. Really disappointing.

Won't be buying another Xbox/Microsoft bait and switch deal in future. Almost enough to push me back over to PlayStation's PSPlus instead…

Check out what I had in my email this morning after putting up with two online chats:

      Hello,
      Thanks for contacting Xbox Support.
Good day! Thank you your outmost patience in waiting for our workaround regarding on your issue with the promotion of 3 + 3 months code for Xbox live gold. We know how much you wanted to have/get the other 3 months code and I'm with you on that. However, upon taking review of the account, we aere able to confirm that we are not able to generate the other code for Xbox live gold. Thank you so much for your kind understanding.

No kind understanding from me - that's ridiculous.

      • Almost enough to push me back over to PlayStation's PSPlus instead…

        LOL

      • See my message below - check your original receipt from Microsoft for the code. If you got it on the 7th, but it is showing as being purchased on the 6th in the body of the receipt, then you should be able to raise this with them again. Go to commerce.microsoft.com and check the date for the order there - assuming it's the 7th then give them another call.

    • how do you get on chat, tried for 20 minutes or so
do you have a link please?

  • +1

OK. I think I have discovered the issue. Check your email receipt - it may have come through on the 7th, but if you are like me and bought it in the morning it might be showing in the body of the receipt the 6th ie the day before the promotion started. The issue is their system is running on Pacific Daylight Time which is about 17 hours behind me here on AEST. Initially the support people said "You're not eligible because you bought it on the 6th". I went through the email header info, told them what the issue appeared to be, and then the clincher was on "commerce.microsoft.com" the date of purchase was showing the 7th. I've asked them to record this as a known issue so others don't have to go through this, but they "need to gather more claims about this to raise it on our dedicated team".

So, you will still need to go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contact/virtual-agent/ to raise the issue and they might ask for some screen shots, but now you know what to look for.

    • +1

….and update. After 45 mins chatting with online support I eventually got the 3 month code they manually sent me. Was flagged as spam by gmail. When I applied it, it did not prompt to turn on automatic billing so I 'only' got the extra 3 months, but what the hey.

    • This is a good tip, but not the source of my issue as my purchase was dated 7 June in all time-zones and I still didn't receive it.

Took me several online chats and probably two wasted hours to finally get it resolved. They were arguing that it only applied to purchases of 3-month cards (not the digital purchase).

I'm glad it was resolved, but will NEVER again take Microsoft up on one of these bonus offers - was a very disappointing experience.

In the end I didn't care about the $30 as I would have asked for a refund if they didn't come good but, out of principle I needed to see it through.

Seriously, Microsoft, you've got an unhappy customer that probably cost you a packet to initially attract through advertising spend, so give them the code they have qualified for, and let them move on and be happy. Whole episode left a sour taste in my mouth.

Hopefully everyone else has now had the situation sorted.

  • Forgot about it, just got on chat again and they emailed me a code. Didn't get another bonus month for turning on auto renewal sadly. Still not bad, got 7 months for $23.96 with Amex deal. Also apparently getting $13 back from cash rewards

  • Have contacted support chat multiple times over the past week, every time I'm told they will need to escalate the issue and will be back to me within 24-48 hours, nearly a week later, still no code, still being told the same thing. I've requested for a refund and been told that even though consumer law says I'm entitled to a refund, I agreed to Microsoft's terms & conditions so I'm not entitled to one.

    https://i.gyazo.com/c4210ccc6ab1cac50ccc61b1216407ad.png

Have opened a dispute with PayPal for a refund.

    • I'm experiencing similar problems. Have contact support twice and was given the same timeframe to have it resolved. Will now proceed to ask for a refund.

      • Sorry to hear that. If you read above you'll note I had the same issue. Took several online chats to resolve it finally…

If you have any evidence of the offer and your purchase - invoices and things that you can show them (I think there's also a screen grab somewhere in this thread) - insist they take a look at them and give you a clear reason why they're alleging you're not eligible for the offer.

Very odd behaviour from Microsoft in a very competitive console market (where they have less market share than Sony, and face lots of consumer interest in the Switch).

        • All good Fookos. Glad to see yours came through. The good news is that I haven't been denied the additional code, its just delayed according to live chat and the email I received. I will give it a few more days for them to have it resolved.

I should've just purchased more from the retail sellers offering the same deal. Didn't think it was going to be a Microsoft not coming through with the goods.

        • @cheepo: Sounds promising for you, but I wouldn't buy into that 'take a few days' thing from them too much - you might find yourself waiting indefinitely… They can arrange a code for you in a couple of minutes during live chat if they want. Let me know how it ends up! Hope it comes through soon.

    • And 3 weeks later Paypal decided in my favour and refunded my payment, Cheers for the 4 months free Xbox live Microsoft.

  • Still nothing for me - I had actually forgotten about this

Just got through a chat and told to wait 24-48 hours by a "supervisor". He is "personally" handling my case and will contact me directly with an update. Apparently they are having "troubles" sending the emails and they are going to fix it "any moment now". Still having "troubles" 2 weeks later - too bad Microsoft doesn't make some sort of email server thingy that could handle these emails

My eyeballs hurt from rolling them so hard….

    • still waiting….

    • contacted chat today and the rep sorted it immediately
so flapping annoying that I have to make multiple contacts to sort this, and get the runaround the first time

  • Well, FWIW I just received an email from Microsoft with a 3 month code. I suspect that maybe they got enough complaints to investigate the issue and then ran a script to mail out the codes to those affected by whatever the problem/s was/were.

  • received mine today after about 6 chats and a whole heap of promises to get in touch with me within 72 hours (not one reply back)

  • Still haven't got mine, will have to chat with support it seems.

  • Finally got it!

Had to do another chat with support. After he confirmed my details and that I had contacted them previously he spoke to a supervisor and gave me a code. He also acknowledged that there has been an issue with these codes.

Also might be luck of the draw of who you get when you do chat.

  • talking to Gabriel atm….
    he's working on it…

  • Finally got mine too, after 4th time on chat. Ended up with 8 months for the price of 3 by enabling the auto-renew, so not too bad.

    • Seriously, why did we all need to make three to four chat attempts? Poor form Microsoft. Bad customer service for real customers. Well done on seeing it through to the end of the escapade.

      • Yep, it has certainly put me off from doing this again.

Considering these problems have happened in previous deals it is indeed poor form on Microsoft's part that they haven't sorted this out.

  • Live chat was useless. They told me to make a post on the 'Sales and Promotions' forum and someone would get back to me. 22 days later nothing.
Called the following number this morning "(02) 8031 8186" and they were incredibly nice and got it sorted.

    • Made the phone call after waiting for almost 3 weeks and got one too. Terrible M$ service. They even have the guts to tell me to leave the feedback experience. lol!
