Wow you're kidding lol! Damn AP.

+1, mainly because it's Gearbite! These guys are awesome retailers. Bought 6 items from them over the past year- had to return two due to manufacturing faults… these guys are so pleasant when it comes to returns. Highly recommended!

    • I completely agree, and that's why I love posting for them, their customer service is second to none!

  • +1

With latest update. I can no longer Connect my vacuum with China server (where my cams and switchs are) have to change the region which acts as new account with out other devices. It's a pain in a$$.

    • Damn that's annoying, I really wish they could make an australian server which all of the smart devices could share on, hopefully it comes in the future!

      • Considering the amount of devices missing from other regions, we probably don't want an australian server.

      • Currently they're is option called 'other'Under server list

    • Weird. My cams and vac work fine on this server. Have you tried hard resetting devices/firmware?

      • Do you have latest firmware?
        Happened to me after update.

    • Same here after the latest Mi Home app update. Vacuum is now on the Hong Kong server and my camera is stranded on the China server :-\

      • Yeah mine too, tried resetting a couple times still won't connect to the China server. Now I just press the on off switch to let it run. Annoying.

    • 2nd gen? Damn it, now i'll have to buy it from overseas.

    • I've just received my S50 today and as you mention it won't work in the Mi app without changing region - do you guys have any workarounds for this that you're aware of - NB I have a number of other Xiaomi things (like gateways, sensors, switches, air purifier, etc) and a HA setup - e.g. can you do any of the following?

      • putting the Vacuum in a diff region (e.g. Other - is that the best alternate region to use?) to all the other devices (which are in China) and switch the Region in the app back and forth to control/view the diff things? can you do this (easily) without loosing all your settings/setup/etc?

      • create another Mi userid and put the Vacuum in it (perhaps logging into this account using another device)?

      • something else?

  • +5

Damn - was in the throws of posting my first ever deal - beaten to the punch :)

Note that gearbite reduced their price by $5 just minutes before the 11AM 11% deal came into effect (I know a price reduction rather than jacking for an ebay sale!!)

    • +2

My apologies lol, please don't let that get in the way of posting your first deal :)

  • +1

The first gen has virtual walls if you switch it to mainland china.

    • That's great

  • Got it cheaper through the 20% US eBay sitewide recently. Still a good price.

  • Thank you, the wife has always wanted one and this is just in time for Bday!

  • +1

Plus buying on eBay you get allot more.

    • Credit card points buying 5% Woolworths cards
    • Woolworths Rewards Points buying giftcards
    • Velocity or QFF referrer points
    • 5x Flybuy points
    • 1 Positive eBay feedback
    • Where can I get the 5% woollies card? Is it just their regular gift cards?

  • Someone who has 1st gen could you please comment on these:

    1) if filter cannot be cleaned/reused, how often do you have to change? Where is best to buy?

    2) what am I missing out on without virtual walls?

    • 1) Never, you can take it out and use another vacuum to clean it. Best to by is probably AliExpress, or via https://www.shopro.com.au/appliance-4/xiaomi-robot-vacuum-cl… for local.
      2) You can block off areas you don't want it to go, never needed them personally.

      • Thanks for sharing the info!

    • 1st gen has virtual walls if you switch it to mainland china as the region.

  • Thanks for posting the deal Doweyy. I'm really considering the Upgraded 2nd version - seems like a decent price point, particularly with a further 5% off via eBay gift cards (Through CR Woolies Gift Card).

Can anyone please help with a few questions, as I'm a bit skeptical about practicality?

    1. How often do you have to wash the mop pad, and is it machine washable?
    2. If it doesn't live up to expectations, would GearBite offer a change of mind refund?
    3. How much mopping shampoo can it hold, and how long does it last?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Just becareful with egift cards. I purchased the woolie's one via CR at 7.30am today still don't have the email yet.

      • +1

I'd give them a call (Woolworths Gift Cards #) and request to process it ASAP, I've heard that makes the process a lot quicker as they process it manually.

        • Thanks for tip, called and got put on some priority list for processing. Hopefully comes soon

We've had a V2 on tile floors (off white - what were we thinking??!!) and the mopping feature is ok but it's not a true mop. More like a spray and wipe without the spray. We 3/4 fill the reservoir with water and the rest metho. It cleans up small stains and generally gives the floor a bit of a wipe and freshen up. To answer your questions:
1 - I try to wash it every couple of times because it smells if you leave it on the machine
      2 - No idea sorry
3 - Our reservoir lasts maybe 2-3 cleans of a 35 square meter floor

      • Thanks mate - really appreciate it.

Do you hand wash them or machine wash them?

And do you ever put any mopping soap/shampoo in the reservoir?

        Thanks

        • I machine wash mine after every mop. I use water with a bit of floor cleaner. I even use it to mop my back timber deck.

      • Is there any reason to pay the extra for a half arsed mopping option? I used to mop for a living at one stage and there's no way a robot is going to do a decent job mopping IMO

        • The only true mopping robot is the old irobot 390. It had a clean tank and a dirty tank. Put down clean water and sucked off floor into the dirty tank. I would go gen 1…..However I only own roombas…but have friends who love the gen1.

        • Hey, whats the best mop to use for home-use ? I have recently asked this question on the forum https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/383683

    • a further 5% off via eBay gift cards (Through CR Woolies Gift Card).

May I know how this works? thx

      • You can use cashrewards to buy a woolies Gift Card for 5% off.

Then you go to woolies and buy an eBay gift card for the normal price from Woolies.

        Then you technically save 5%.

  • How do these compare to the ilife v7s which is much cheaper

    • +1

don't waste your time with cheaper options.

  • -2

don't forget the brushes filters replacement costs around $100 per year.

  • thanks, cant wait for clean floors

  • Thanks for the 2nd generation offer! Bought one to keep the missus happy :)

  • I just cancelled with woolworth my eGiftcard was taking too long, ordered at 7.30am. Couldn't wait in case this deal got ozbargained

  • I can't use this deal. It says 'This code can't be applied to your order.'

any idea why. its already 85% sold and I want to buy this asap. some help please. thanks.

    • +2

Have you been able to use other coupons in the past? Usually when that happens for sitewide deals, it would be because your address in eBay is not within Australia.

  • @doweyy: Thanks mate. my primary address was not australia (though shipping was AU). changed it and this worked. thanks a bunch :)

    • Awesome, great news :)

  • I own a second gen and absolutely love it. Best thing I've ever bought to cut down hours of vacuuming.

BUT the latest software update is a real issue. The MUIU forums show that many people can't access the vac from the app anymore. If you don't have any other Xiaomi home products, it might not be an issue. Without being able to access the vac from the app means zoned vac etc is now not available.

I'm so disappointed because this vac is so brilliant otherwise.

  • Has anyone bought ebay cards from woolies today? I tried and the pinpad cancelled the item?

  • Is there a way to buy additional warranty? I am looking at buying my first robovac here but dont trust the battery life as all my mates say the batteries are big problems in most robovacs and bust after a year or 2.

  • Will the vacuum app support iphones?

    • iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch

  • So cranky I missed this sale. 10% off coming out today, but not as good as this deal.

    • Just a heads up, it's back to $488 with PICKY10 :) $3 more expensive but still a great deal IMO.

  • +1

Thanks OP. I was a little sceptical but we bought the 2nd gen model and are loving what it does to a carpet covered in hair from our newly acquired Jack Russell. Startlingly easy to use, with a great app. 24-hour delivery from Gearbite was nice too. Word of mouth on these is terrific and I can see why.

    • bought this for the dog too, what region you using?

  • +1

Just opened mine set it up clicked the start button. And I keep getting error 4 cliff sensors need cleaning. It is brand new and they are not dirty. Anyone else experience this issue? It might be faulty sensors?

    • got mine today, not getting the issue (2nd gen)

  • i cant connect to Mainland china region, which region are you guys using?

  • check your orders everyone, I used by phone to order with the brush combo however, the invoice doesn't add the order in and charges you the higher price.
