Seems like a good price. I am waiting to get one of these during EOFY sale. Hoping that the prices will drop further (in true OzB fashion :) )

Only Gold or Grey left, but what a price !!

    US stock?

      • Not an expert but are import (grey) devices the same as AU devices but just without any warranty? In other words it functions the same way?

        • +1

That is correct. An added advantage is that you can use a second SIM in place of a microSD card.

        • +2

It depends, they can be the same or they might be different.

These phones are not the same as the local ones as they have 2 sim card slots (and no SD slot if you use both sim cards)

The rest of the phone should be the same as local versions.
If you wanted you can even put the Australian software on them so it would look like a phone from Australia.

If you got an American model then they have different CPUs in them. Instead of being made by Samsung they are made by Qualcomm.
This also means you cannot put the Australian software on them as the Australian one is not designed to work with the American CPUs.

        • @albert0pia: If it can use a 2nd sim card then is the model name the same as the one in Aus. S7 Edge have grey versions that has the same ability but has a slightly different model name (though other specs the same).

Only concern is that there are reports that these get fewer/slower OS updates.

@x d: Australian version is SM-950F (missing the D) and doesn't have dual sim. The D stands for Dual sim.

          @Alzori:
Generally speaking, OzBargainers love the D.

Return/warranty seems like a pain in the ass.

    • It normally is with imported phones

      • At least with many imported, you may have local warranty.

        • +1

I don't think you have local warranty

        • +1

@m0tyrider: I am not sure you understand. I am not talking about this particlar seller. I am talking about local warranty usually sold by many other sellers , e.g Kogan, Amaysim, eGloabalDigital, shoppingexpress, dwidigital etc.

Edit: Local warranty =/= manufacturer warranty. It simply means third party in house warranty.

Samsung Australia doesn't want to know you if you have an American phone. They wouldn't touch my S7 edge. Samsung in America wouldn't touch it because it was no longer in America. And you WILL need the warranty.

    • send it back to America. Pay for the phone with Payap to get your free return shipping. They have to honor the warranty if it is being sent back to them.

      • That only works for the first 150 days

        • +1

Almost half a year of return postage out of your 12 months warranty isn't bad. It's free. After that he will have to ship it back himself. Still better than keeping a paperweight.

    • Bad experience with the phone?

    • +6

Bought many Samsungs since S2 until S9. Never once need a warranty.

      • Everyone I know with an S5 (myself included) has needed the warranty as there is a design fault which causes the screen to fail within about 18 months of use (flickers madly at low brightness). Even my replacement screen failed after 7 months.

I've never had any other phone fail, though. So this is still probably a pretty safe bet.

  • Does anyone know if Samsung Pay will work? Thanks.

    • ive got a hk version dual sim. samsung pay works fine here

    • Didn't work for me. Im using google pay instead

    • You need to flash an AU rom and then it will.

      • Do you lose any features if you flash AU rom? Or only gain?

Also, if you don't care about Samsung Pay and leave the overseas rom on it, do you lose ability for OTA updates and thus need the AU rom?

        • No, only gain.

I'm not sure for that question.

  • Looks good but only gold left now

  • what about this? says au stock and $583 with 10% code

95% feedback score… Run for the hills, I say!

      • hahaha

    • It is stated as "New: never use", moreover will come with a generic box and generic accessories, so must be some shop-demo phones, or in the worst case, rebuilt one, IMO.

    Nokia 8810

  • I cant put my finger on it as to why i so hate my S8……literally never enjoyed using it at all.
