    Bonkers price.

  • +3

    God damn it.

Way too hasty with the $86 deal and blew the code not realising I could only use it once.

Going to be kicking myself all weekend as the deals come out that I can't get!

    • make a new account

    • How could we know it would be even cheaper and not just sell out. Still annoying to me too

      • Yeah I've been a bit slow with some deals and they sold out. Twice I've had things in my cart today and they've either sold out before I paid or the price got jacked while in my cart. Hard to know what to do

    • Interesting what the price will be tomorrow… 20% off confirmed… (good chance of price jacking though)
      :D

      • They conveniently ran out of stock….

  • Can this work with Nintendo Switch? Apologies for asking a basic question, but looking to get the 6 pm Nintendo deal (if I'm quick enough).

    • +2

Yes it can. Great deal. I paid $70 for 200gb.

  • is it worth keeping ebay plus after the trial?

The way I see it, I'm not sure if the perks are worth it.

Free shipping for selected items means nothing. A bunch of sellers already do free shipping. And that in itself doesn't mean much. The cost is shifted to the price of the item.

Free return of items.. Paypal already covers you up to $45 for long enough.

    • Only time will tell. If the savings on the exclusive sale items are similar to what we're seeing today going forward and you're in the market for such items then I'd say yes.

For example, Nintendo Switch at $319 from 6pm today is $80 cheaper than Big W's sale price at the moment.

eBay Plus introductory offer is $29 for the first year and $49 for a year ongoing, so you're already ahead with the saving you've made on the Switch.

Personally I'm going to cancel my trial subscription and then sign up again at $29 if another item I want is offered at a significant saving.

Free shipping is a bonus, although I don't really notice it when shopping on eBay as most retailers seem to offer that as standard.

      • +1

Good luck getting that Switch at 6:00:01 PM.

        • I wasn't in the market for the Dyson or the GoPro, but I managed to refresh a couple of times after they went active and saw the sales climbing. I feel like I could have easily nabbed either of them if I wanted to and I expect the Switch will sell at a similar rate. I'll let you know how I go.

        • @Nomadesque: were you able to get that switch?

        • @lostn: See below - yes.

      • Crazy Switch price

      • Switch at 319? wow… don't think you'll ever get that price again (not inclusive of the Amex deal) unless Switch 2 comes out. I got mine at 359 with Amazon $20 off, but I haven't included Cashrewards 5%, which will bring it down to to about 335. But 319 is really good. Good luck.

  • Can this work with Hero 6? Oh wait…I missed out :(

    • why can’t?

  • absolutely spewing, paid 85 this morning!

    • +5

      You're spewing over $2 ?

      • +4

To be fair, it's over 100 indian rupees.

        • +4

          and over 60,000 iranian rials

        • @cathole: Its an extra 1c per GB.

        • There's not much that you can get in India for 100 Rupees.

      • more like spewing over losing a 'better' bargain! It is OzBargain after all! haha

    • +1

What about me? I paid $115.20 just a couple of weeks back.AARGH!!

      • I paid $130 about 6 months ago and mines just sitting in a drawer. shrug

        • I paid $115 2 weeks ago and $130 6 months ago AND $86 earlier today. Getting reamed left right and centre!

  • +1

Good deal, unfortunately Ebay doesnt like my account. Its giving me the error "Sorry, this program is currently only available for users registered on eBay.com.au and whose billing currency is Australian Dollar." Even though I changed the currency and location. lol

    • I had the same thing but I contacted ebay in the ebay chat and they fixed it for me. Might want to try that out

  • I bought the Sandisk 200GB from Amazon AU last week with the code for $67. Then bought the 256GB today for $85. Then this comes up as well. Shouldn't have rushed and could have saved $2.

    • +1

You are taking risks if you wait when you have what you already consider a good deal. If nothing better appears, the original deal may have sold out by the time you give up on waiting for a better deal.

  • +1

Are these good for a GoPro??

    • I second this question. HERO6 to be specific. I'm searching but haven't found a concrete answer yet.
Allegedly HERO6 requires "microSD with at least Class 10 or UHS-I rating" which this card has.

      • I'm keen on info for the hero 5

    • +1

      Gopro 5 records 4k at 60megabits. U1 is MINIMUM write of 80 megabits,U3 is minimum 240 megabits.

U1 is well enough for this let alone U3.

Only reason you'll max out a card would be if you're doing shots on a DSLR at 10 frames per second with 30mb raw photo sizes

      • DSLRs write images to their buffer first and then move to SD cards.

        • Yeah and if you have an entry slr that means you got 6 shots in the buffer until the speed drops to about 3 shots per second, with a faster card, you'll maintain high FPS before it slows down.

I know no one blind fires that much on a daily basis, just an extreme example.

      • Only reason you'll max out a card would be if you're doing shots on a DSLR at 10 frames per second with 30mb raw photo sizes

Or shoot video on a higher-end camera like the Sony A6300/6500/A7 III/GH5 that support bitrates up to 100Mbps (the Sonys) and 400Mbps (GH5). But if you actually need to shoot at those bitrates, you'd already know which cards to get. :)

I currently use the old Sandisk 200GB Class 10/UHS-I card in my GoPro 6 (and 5 previously) for 4K video with no issues. This will definitely have no problem.

  • Go nicely with the switch for $319, Now i have zero funds for games.

    • where did you get the switch for 319?

  • great price thanks OP

  • …nice find, think I'll sign up just to get this…..and then cancel later…..or on the last day….hahaha

  • Even cheaper now with PASSCODE. Price not jacked (yet).

    • They conveniently ran out of stock….

      • 319 sold.. how much stock do you expect them to have??

        • 1000…

Joking aside, they had "More than 10 available" right before then and then suddenly zero……..doesn't that arouse your suspicion?

        • +1

@Zachary: No. At that price, they can easily sell 11 in 1 minute.

Amazon is widely known as the store with the best prices, and this is far cheaper than Amazon has ever been. It could very well be the cheapest price in the world.

This is a great situation to apply Occam's razor. A store has limited stock of a product. A sale comes along and they sell it for a really, really good price - possibly the cheapest price in the world. Lots of people buy it.

Then the price goes down even more. Even more people buy it, along with people who were on the fence earlier.

Eventually the limited supply will run out.

If there is a really good deal, people will buy it. If people buy it, stock will run out. There is no need for any conspiracy theories or unwarranted accusations here.

        • @eug: But they didn't eug. They removed it from sale as they didn't want to sell at that price.

Its not a conspiracy theory, and the accusation is unwarranted. Although they are allowed to do whatever they like with their business, and its impact on us is not their concern.

        • @kulprit:

They removed it from sale as they didn't want to sell at that price.

          How do you know?

        • @kulprit: They sold 319. I think that's more than a fair amount of stock a seller is expected to have during a sale.

I bought 2 at $83. Tried to cancel and buy 2 more but couldn't. Now I can't buy 2 more unless they restock. So I'm not going to return them just yet.

        • @lostn @kulprit @eug

Alright boys, I've decided to message the seller and find out the reason, and he states and I quote too:

this listing was only for the ebay plus weekend promotion and has now finished.

I believe this ends eug's assumption that they ran out of stock - which they didn't; and my conspiracy theory about them "running out of stock" because they didn't want to sell at that price to us - which was wrong because as quoted they and like how kulprit just said: "they are allowed to do whatever they like with their business, and its impact on us is not their concern."

        • @Zachary:

I believe this ends eug's assumption that they ran out of stock

          • Store advertises a good deal on a memory card
          • A few days later, after selling 319 cards, they finish all their sale stock and the listing ends.

Conclusion: they ran out of stock.

FWIW if anybody really cares, to be able to beat Amazon in terms of pricing, they likely had a deal with the supplier to get x amount of cards for the promotional price. That would be their sale stock.

It's possible but less likely that they would sell regular stock at a huge discount as a loss leader, in that case they would have allocated a certain amount of cards for the sale.

So once they have sold all their promo-price stock, it's … out of stock. They can still have regular-priced stock available, but the promo-price stock is gone.

This has been discussed a number of times here before, when people would frequently accuse stores of ending cheap listings. People forget that good deals sell fast.

You were just debating semantics. No store will ever run out of stock of a current item - they can just order more from the supplier. We are talking about allocated stock at a specific price here - a price that is much cheaper than even the world's largest retailer. Stock at that price will run out. Shopping Express can't continually undercut Amazon by that large a margin.

        • @eug:

Store advertises a good deal on a memory card
A few days later, after selling 319 cards, they finish all their sale stock and the listing ends.

Conclusion: they ran out of stock.

No that is not the point, the point is that had enough stock and are willing to backorder if they do run out, just for the duration of this promotion…I even quoted that they specifically had stock just to sell at that price point only, once the promotion ends, they will withdraw….but instead of deleting the listing, they change the quantity to zero so we can't buy any(more)…

        • @Zachary:

the point is that had enough stock and are willing to backorder if they do run out, just for the duration of this promotion…

Right, but that wasn't clear from your quote. All they said was that the promotion is over, not that they would backorder if their stock ran out. They still had some stock left after the promotion ended on the 24th - you can see they sold a few on the 25th. Two of them looks like people who just missed the cutoff though, haha.

        • @eug: Oh yes well that's true…but it did say the listing was specifically for that promo from the quote, no? So safe to assume he zero'd the stock when the new promo came out? And the four that missed out the cut off point kinda solidifies that they had more than enough stock right before the new promo, no? But of course instead of letting it run, they decide to not sell any at all.

        • @Zachary:

but it did say the listing was specifically for that promo from the quote, no?

The listing was already up before the promo.

And the four that missed out the cut off point kinda solidifies that they had more than enough stock right before the new promo, no?

Yes, it can be seen that way. It can also be seen as they had 319 items in stock. They sold 315 of them during the promo, but they still had 4 left after the promo, so they kept the listing up until they finished selling the last 4.

In any case, my original point is that an item on sale at a very good price, quickly going out of stock, is not suspicious.

        • @eug: > The listing was already up before the promo.

O in that case the seller lied to me….

Yes, it can be seen that way. It can also be seen as they had 319 items in stock. They sold 315 of them during the promo, but they still had 4 left after the promo, so they kept the listing up until they finished selling the last 4.

Yes…you're right, I take back what I said…..the only way to solve this once and for all was to have had a screenshot just the minute or second before the new promo came on…and if there was still stock left right before the promo started….

In any case, my original point is that an item on sale at a very good price, quickly going out of stock, is not suspicious.

Yes I guess it's not that suspicious when you look at it from that angle….

  • Still haven't got my shipping info from my purchase on Sunday..

    • Just got my shipping info tonight, they are super slow to post

      • you got tracking?

  • Got mine in parcel locker today.

  • eBay Plus is useless.
Initiated a change of mind return this morning, and it told me to take the item to the post office and pay for shipping.
I did that, $6 later I get read that it should have sent me a postage paid label to use.
It must have tracked as a normal return, not an "eBay Plus" return.

Also other crap like not getting the double flybuys promised as an eBay plus member.
    What a waste of time.

    • Initiated a change of mind return this morning, and it told me to take the item to the post office and pay for shipping.

What told you to pay for shipping?

I did that, $6 later I get read that it should have sent me a postage paid label to use.

      Where did you read that?

      • What told you to pay for shipping?

The eBay returns page when I initiated the return.

        Where did you read that?

https://pages2.ebay.com.au/plus/faq#return-item under "Are returns always free with eBay Plus?"

I contacted eBay and they told me that yes, it should have given me a postage paid label, and they will supposedly refund my $6.

        • The eBay returns page when I initiated the return.

Your returns page didn't show this?

You can use a free eBay Plus return label to return this item

        • @eug:

          Nope :(
I'll keep an eye out for that next time
I don't think eBay recognised it as an eBay Plus purchase, despite it definitely being one.
          (free postage instead of $19.95)

Yep if I go "return item" for another MicroSD I can see that message.

        • @theguyrules:

I don't think eBay recognised it as an eBay Plus purchase, despite it definitely being one.

Was there an eBay Plus logo at the shipping section, or did it just say free shipping?

        • @eug: eBay plus yeah.
It was the exact card linked in this deal, and I had to use the code to get 20% off.

        • @theguyrules: Mmm, I think you should lodge a complaint then..
