    bit of an unrelated question im running a 3asmarthome setup at home with a Nue bridge using the zigbee protocol, would the senor items work on my existing bridge or do they need to run on the xiaomi bridge?

      Xiaomi Zigbee is fairly well documented. I have it running directly to other units, smart things can pair to Xiaomi sensors for example. There are some qwerks, like the 2nd button on the wall switch not being picked up, but for most things it seems run of the mill.

      Your mileage might vary of course.

      So not technically targetted, more a have to join the 30 day free trial or $29/year or $49/year after launch.

      eBay plus is going to be a given requirement for eBay from now on. Not many stores are leaving free shipping in place (at least top rated sellers).

      It does mean the GST factor previously crippling local sellers isnt such an issue though.

    going to try and set up (father son quality time) the xiaomo home security kit and the camera today ….told junior "get of fortnite and do something usefull …. home security you can sell to friends parents …. fortnite coaching isn't a career path or pocket money spinner"
    wish me luck.

    only thing missing is fortnite bong skin ….

    P.S he is in the top 10% in naplan and so there is hope …

    How does the outlet work together with the gateway?
    Sorry, I know very little about it and all the videos I've found showed how to use the outlet in itself without connecting to the gateway

      I am guessing you mean the power outlets?

      There are two variants:

      Included in the 5-in-1 kit is the zigbee version.

      The Zigbee version:
      - Provides power consumption information, is slightly smaller than wifi version

      The Wifi version:
      - Slightly larger, does not require gateway, but no power consumption information out of them.

      Edit: Grabbed random ebay link for Zigbee variant as not sure any of the local crews are stocking it at the moment.

        The zigbee one also records power consumption, at least all mine seem to. The WIFI ones, just on/off and timer schedule / remote control of device power.

        Warning: A/C often use 15A earth and consume a great deal power more than these devices can push through. If you want to control your air conditioner, recommend the AC gateway from Xiaomi - higher load rating

    So the accessories in this kit all use Zigbee? Do all of them have a Wi-Fi version? 10-20m range for Zigbee seems inappropriate for houses.

      WIFI drains the battery, zigbee is the go-to for low powered devices.

      10-30m range for most Zigbee equipment, it is low power though.

      Havent seen door/window or other little sensors on wifi, a few use bluetooth, but generally zigbee is thought to the be the go-to for home use.

      A few have wifi variants etc:
      - WIFI based power sockets (instead of zigbee)

      aside from that, not much using wifi over zigbee.

      Nearly all the Xiaomi kit is zigbee though.

      Multiple wifi devices will clog your network, which is where zigbee comes in.
