  • Is this good at this price? I was hoping to buy one soon and bang , thanks for the post!!!

  • I bought one the the same seller a week ago for $62 and still unopen :(

  • +1

hmm $19.95 postage if not plus'd

sucks up more power than the old model … mine was stuck at boot until I plugged into 2.4 amp power pack ….old 2.1 didn't cut it.

hey …they reckon use pi power packs which are 2.5 amps.

    • so 3B+ is worst than the older 3B?

      • +1

Most of the extra power draw I believe comes from the faster ethernet, which is enabled even if not being used, CPU should actually be more efficient, clocked higher anyway. Not a huge amount of difference between the two. If you don't need the improved wifi/bluetooth, higher clockspeed (with higher overclocking potential) or faster Ethernet and it will be left running, then the lower power draw of the 3B could make it the better option.

    • My 3B+ runs fine from an old 1 amp HTC phone charger with nothing but ethernet and HDMI connected.

Both my B+ and older 3 show the low voltage symbol in the top right if I connect my 4TB USB HDD, using 4 different decent quality 2-2.4A chargers with the ~1.5M USB cables that came with the phones. A shorter USB power cable and it works fine.

It seems odd for the 3B+ by itself to have power issues running from a decent 2.1A power supply, is your power cable particularly long or thin?

  • +1

    Buy 2 for $38.7

    What's this bit?!

    • if you buy 2, you get to be eligible for the PIZZAZZ code which requires minimum of $50
so that brings the price of each to $38.7

either that or add other stuff to cart you want to get and get it to $50 and quite possibly the lowest price posted here for the 3b+

      • +5

You said "Buy 2 for $38.7" . I think you forgot "each". Big difference!!!

    • I think it’s if you buy 2, you get them at $38.70 each as you can use PIZZAZZ

  • Thanks OP, this is a great price, have been looking at these for $65+ with case. They work great with Volumio, plug in a USB DAC, or DAC hat, then you can remote control music on a NAS to multiple rooms. Two more rooms done for me:-)

    • Which DAC hat are you using?

      • Haven't tried the B+ yet, but with the B I've used Oppo HA-2, Aune x1s and Topping D10. Hoping the B+ gives reliable DSD over 5GHz WiFi, reports are that it does.

    • Should also work fine on a Pi0/W, I know PiCorePlayer does, including with a cheap PCM5102 DAC. Smaller, cheaper, uses less power.

    • I did want to use the PIs to do multi-room audio but if it is anything more than $30/40 it makes more sense to just get an Alex Echo Dot to do the same. It will be more reliable and you can use voice from anywhere to play audio. If you have Plex you can make it play audio from your NAS. Plus there is so much more you can do with an Echo in each room (eg PABX, etc).

      • +1

Depends on the quality you are after. I have Echo's and they are OK. With a Pi you can use a high quality DAC and do HIRES / DSD audio in addition to FLACs. If you are just using mp3, anything will do…

        • Agreed

    • I prefer MoOde http://moodeaudio.org/ w/ USB out to my miniDSP.

  • Thanks. Great price for a pi and case! $40.85!!! eBay+ trial came good! Excellent!

  • +1

Genuine question what are these good for now? There's tons of cheap media PC's which only cost a fraction more with easier set up and features. I want an excuse to buy one but not sure what I can use it for lol

    • +1

Same here, I'd love to have an excuse

    • pi-hole
      osmc
      retropie
      controlling mining rigs via gpio
      controlling other shit via gpio
      vpn router
      random projects like this: https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/game-boy-zero/

      • You are going to need a bigger list than that! :)

        PBX (phone system)
Home automation including power & environment monitoring, pool pump controller, etc.
Low power uploading to the cloud for large backups. 12TB and counting.
        Unifi Controller (WiFi networks)
        Network monitoring

Controlling other things via GPIO would normally be an ESP32 or ESP8266, much cheaper and lower power.

        • I only listed things I've done with mine.

        • 12TB uploaded! Wow - what sort of Internet link do you have?

        • @RedHab:

I uploaded about 11TB on Telstra cable with only 2.4Mbps upstream. Now have 5Mbps on Telstra cable.

    • I'm going to use mine for Octoprint (3D printing server).

    • My son really wants to build a gamepi. If love to do it with him so I'm keeping an eye out for good pi3 deals… Missed this one.

      https://www.instructables.com/id/GamePi-the-Handheld-Emulato…

      • Might also want to checkout the ODROID-GO. Not a lot to the assembly, could be a good thing, could be a bad thing. Running an ESP32 microcontroller rather than a full ARM CPU, so not as flexible and won't ever emulate the more powerful systems, but still worth checking out.

    • I'm using it for MagicMirror…although I couldn't find a glass seller that provides one-way mirror yet.

  • Thank you OP, finally a decent Raspberry Pi deal!

[edit] Jesus, these are selling fast. Looks like I just snagged the 2nd last one.

  • Sold out!

  • +7

Apparently, they will be adding another 50 units tomorrow.

    • I hope so. I've been waiting on a Pi deal for the longest time!

    • Do you know what time? I'd like to get another one for another project.

      • how many you got?
        and what models?

do you know which power supply does the B+ use?
        got a ebay link?

    • where did you get this info?

      • +1

        I messaged them via eBay

        • good to know.

          did you buy any
or how many you will buy?

do you have any Pi already?

  • darn, missed!

    • Amazing I got something that I was thinking about buying and it was a great special. Currently now expecting even better deal to be published today.

  • +1

FWIW, the B+ model does not work with Retropie yet.

    • I am a bit surprised at the lack of support for this new model. Not just retropie, but just generally. Do you know what the issue is?

      • probably cos it is still new

I don't see why they won't eventually support it.

  • +1

Any idea if and when this will be restocked?

    • Seller says 50 units may be added today or tomorrow. No guarantees.

  • Back in stock

  • back in stock, I just ordered 2 and PIZZAZZ coupon code still works. Now I need to find someone selling the POE hat.

  • Managed to get one for $33 delivered with a plus coupon, thanks OP, will be a great present!

  • wow 60 sold in an hour!

edit: 72, they're flying out the door haha!

  • Back in stock

  • I got one squeee

  • out of stock again, I think there was 70 ish units got added
when I checked few mins ago, I saw 10 available and successfully grabbed 2..

luckily I have my cart ready with Ebay Plus pre-registered for this deal this morning :p

  • There's this one ebay member bought 20 of them and another 1 bought 10. Jeezz. Ebay Seller should put a limit… :(

    • Sorry, it was an amazing deal and the eBay seller didn't put limits on it so ya snooze ya lose lol

      • hahaha… yeah I was in a meeting and can't really find an excuse to go so I can grab atleast 1.

    • +2

When those large quantities were sold. I added more to match the quantity sold.

So they bought 30, i posted 30 more.

      • Any chance I could still get one or two? ta!

      • Any chance you can put a few more rep and let those broadens out. Many thanks in advance

      • One for me too please, keen to get into raspberry
