  • i dont think they sell burgers at Papparich.

    • +1

They do. It’s called the Nasi Lemak burger.

  • +3

When I enter the code. It only says 4 venues for paparich and they are all in sydney. Got screwed over a few times by this app so I'm having doubts about this.. photo

    • +1

Happen to me as well. So I'm a bit hesitant to use.

      • +1

It could be an intentional design for this app that you don't know if a discount or coupon is used until the payment goes through… Can't be refunded either. So you don't have a choice even if the discount doesn't work

        • Works in Melbourne as well with the exclusion of a couple of branches.

New funny tech bug that's happening now we work with national brands. Should be fixed for next update.

        • +1

I had an issue before with Liven. Meant to spend $40, get $20 back. I specified to the bartender to not process the transaction for $32 or so as I will come back and order a drink and he said that's fine.

Next thing I know the transaction is processed and I don't get the $20.

Liven support didn't rectify this to my satisfaction so I'm not convinced they will credit you the full amount if something goes wrong.

    • I had something similar for 8Bit (only showed Melb branches) and it worked in Sydney for me. You have confirmation from liventeam that it should work but also when you are on the page, if the promo code is valid (even if the venue is not listed on the code, viewed from wallet), I saw a little section below Info/Photos/Map/Call/Venues that says PROMOCODE: PAPPA10 — View T&Cs that should be there.

  • Might try it out. The 8Bit deals a few weeks back were great!

  • Support:

    Hi there,

Sorry for the confusion. I can confirm that PAPPA10 code will also be valid for Melbourne outlets:
    • Melbourne CBD
    • Knox
    • Nunawading.
We are currently fixing the promo code section in the app to also include these branches on the venues list.
    Cheers,

    • +2

We just sat ourselves down at Nunawading store and have ordered.

But now the app doesn’t let us pay with the promo code as the location is invalid… awkward…

      • Oh dear.

I hope Liven will compensate you.

        • Don’t like my chances, couldn’t find an easy way to contact Liven support regarding the exact matter.

I’ll still use the app to pay for the 10% off so there’s a record of the transaction. Fingers crossed!

It’s only $10 but it did sway my dining decision tonight.

        • +3

I’ve contacted them a few times over promo code issues. They have never compensated for any promo. Maybe others might have had better luck.

      • Try selecting Melbourne from your profile. Same issue happened last time to some.

        • Perhaps I redeemed the promo code whilst location is in Sydney. That’s the only possibility I could think of.

        • @zen:

App is broken. I have mine set to Melb but still shows only Syd stores

      • looks like more than a few of us got jibbed by this ridiculous coupon code design..

    Hi all,

It would pay to be a bit careful with how Liven’s promo codes work. I’ve gotten ‘burnt’ a few times before for not using them correctly, and they don’t exactly specify the details in their app or their website.

Apparently, you can only use a referral code OR a first-time use promo code. Not both. And if you put in a first-time code, and then replace it with a referral BEFORE using the first code, you’ll lose the ability to use it anymore. And I might be wrong- this kind of information won’t be found in the app, promo code or easily on their website.

And with referral bonus ($10) has to be used completely. So if you buy something $3 because you’re at any Liven merchant, you’ll lose the rest. And you won’t know if you’re using the referral bonus because there’s no prompt or option for you to know or choose, until after the transaction has been completed and you check your credit card statement.

So like this offer, you won’t know until the transaction has already gone through. So you won’t know if you actually got the $10 till you’ve spent at the PappaRich counter.

The bonuses and promo codes are quite good. But the terms and conditions aren’t very clear at times, so it can feel like use-bait!

I might be wrong- because that’s just my experience. Glad to be corrected if I am!

If you're referred that counts in our system as a new user special credit.

New user advertising promotions offer credit to go towards first use which is used up entirely when spent (any amount), same goes for new user credit redeemed via referral. This is not done in malice it's just how our system administration works.

If you follow instructions properly the value will be redeemed at the merchant, but do feel free to contact us via Facebook messenger with any specific queries.

    • It is true that they don't really specify the details (and their answer to you here could have been a little nicer hahaha) but I've used a lot of deals and had success.

One thing I will note is some merchants will specify Liven cannot be used with 'special promotions' and each merchant defines these differently. Most are alright but I had one finicky one that insisted their lunch special was a 'special promotion', even after I offered to pay separately for the dishes. We did reach a bit of a compromise after some negotiation and me ordering another dish but Support was not the most helpful in that case, and if you are not sure about the merchant you are dining at/the things you are ordering, I would ask before/right after ordering if Liven is accepted.

If you aren't using a promo code and not ordering any special promos, I have had a Liven team member tell me that even if the merchant claims not to accept Liven after the meal, they will still credit your account with the relevant Liven cash (You contact them through the app by initiating, then cancelling a payment, or calling, or live chat on the website). Of course, if you want to use a promo code, this doesn't really help, so I would be careful and ask, first.

First-use and referral credit are one-or-the-other for other apps and sites too, this is pretty much expected. For Liven, I would generally go with referral instead since 1. you benefit someone else as well and 2. the amount 'gained' is more flexible (can be used anywhere instead of at one merchant).

Liven has actually added a little Promocode section to the venue so you can be more certain about whether your promo code (not referral credit, though) is about to be used. If the promo code is valid (even if the venue is not listed on the code, viewed from wallet), there should be a little section below Info/Photos/Map/Call/Venues that says PROMOCODE: PAPPA10 — View T&Cs. You can also tell which promos are currently valid from your account from your wallet. It is true that you have to use the $10 all at once, though, but I don't consider that a minus.

It is true they could do with a little more documentation or t/cs but at least their customer service is very responsive, which is more than I can say for a lot of other apps. (No documentation AND no response..)

      • Please do let us know if you have any issues with merchants accepting via [email protected] or via Facebook Messenger, we're a small company growing very fast and now have quite a large partner network. The customer experience is always king and venues are supposed to accept payments for the full menu unless stated in the app itself under Liven Cash rate t&c's (which is rare).

We're super happy to have you guys referring, as mentioned before, the new user credit promotions that are merchant specific are often for the purposes of reaching new customers that have never heard of us before.

We're also more than happy to keep in touch here on Ozbargain, but do please remember that we are humans, and here to help in any way we can.

        • I felt the need to highlight that there was one place that had lunch specials and I was told by Liven CS that that IS under the T&Cs. Liven cannot be used for promotional deals. CS has been very helpful except on that one occasion; I ended up having to hang up because Liven CS could not help me, and just negotiated on the spot instead.

However, I have gone to other places and ordered specials and used Liven. So the definition of 'promotional' varies from vendor to vendor.

Does "Melbourne CBD" include Little Collins? Or is the QV site called "CBD"?Probably a silly question but I noticed with the 8Bit deal there was no prompt to select a coupon before paying.

    • Same question
      Can someone clarify

    • 360 Collins St. If you go through the app and click on PappaRich under featured or search for PappaRich or add the code in it will tell you. Only 1 location in Melbourne CBD to use Liven with PappaRich.

  • Has anyone in Melbourne successfully redeemed it at the restaurant?

    • Negative, just ordered. And unable to pay using Liven selecting Nunawading store as it’s not on the list. Despite redeeming the code via the app.

      Sad 😢

      • ?? I can see the Nunawading store on my app, and a rep did mention above that this store should work…did you try contacting Liven?

      • Please let us know how it goes, hoping to go for Sunday.

  • Inc the new one opening at Southern Cross?

  • Not really related, but does the Liven app still have discounted Secure Parking codes?

    • +1

Yes they do. Weekend or night parking (I think night included) for $6. Quite a good deal. 👍

      • Thanks I haven't checked in over 2 years, afraid to download and waste my mob number to check because they lock to your phone.

  • How does Liven work? Do I just go to the counter, order my food and click Pay Now instead of giving them my card (or phone)? How do they know that I've paid?

    • +2

they have a special liven machine on the counter, similar to an eftpos machine. You say you want to pay with liven, click 'pay' on the app, and a code is displayed. The code comes up on the shops liven machine and they click to accept payment. Its pretty easy, I've used it heaps.

      • thanks.
