        Nothing happens on shipping/delivery side. Business as usual for most overseas retailers unless u shop from the bigger retailers where u get charged gst on top.

          I think in short companies earning over $75k have to collect, electronic distribution platforms (think eBay) have to collect and mail forwarders are treated as suppliers so must collect. Everything else under $1k it's the old rules.

          Not sure how something is marked GST paid though or Shipments from non-complying businesses are treated.

          @bxpressiv: I've read this but still can't see how this forces overseas retailers and shippers to comply. My understanding of this stupid exercise is that it requires overseas collection as it is too expensive to collect at point of customer collection (as happens in the UK)

          Is there now a mechanism for customs to collect GST if not already charged? I can't see that there is. How would they know? What would this cost - civil servants are expensive to the taxpayer!

          If the feds are going to make customs collect if not already charged, they are opening up a can of worms and going against what they themselves have legislated. A rod for their own backs

          And it looks to me that some internet retailers are not going to cooperate - B&H Photo for instance
