    It was just $228'ish apparently.

  • How are these for uhd bluray

    • +1

      they play them fine

    • -7

Get a dedicated player for UHD blurays.

      • -1

I don't understand why the negative votes?

I did some research myself and if I'm not a gamer, getting a dedicated player is really a better deal!

I got the LG UP970 around $330 and very happy with it.

        • for the one person who neg me.. can you reply to my post why you neg me?
If I am proven wrong that the LG UP970 I bought is worse than XB Bluray playback, I'll go buy a XB X…

          Happy to be convinced!

XB1S play them fine. However, I use a Logitech harmony remote. You can use the controller, it's just I cannot quite remember which button does what.

Dolby Vision is not supported but most of the UHD Blu-ray players don't support it either. It's more due to licensing cost I reckon.

Dedicated bluray players are much better quality than XB1. Check some comparisons.

        • Make sure you are looking at current comparisons. Early reviews were poor, but most of the issues have been fixed so it now stacks up pretty well with the $250 to $450 price range. Benefit of the XBOX, is it's lot more likely to get updates and fixes than any standalone player. For a cheaper UDH player, you can't go past the XB1. And you get a free game console with it…

        • @oak: True, it really was horrible to begin with. Having said that, it's still noticeably behind.

  • They dont make this in black do they? My original Day One edition is having power issues.

    • They make this in brown and green if that's close enough ;)

      • Yes I know but I'm willing to pay a little more so I dont own what looks like a 10 year old kid's console.

Hand in your OzBargain badge. ;)

        • Me too - got a decal/skin for less than $10 lol
$189 is still the best price around.

        • +1

Or you could also a black vinyl skin on it. Try dbrand or Slickwraps. The latter currently has a 50%-off sale.

          @Logical:

          Was the sharpy on sale

@Stix: It's hilarious that people actually think wanting bargains and wanting shitty products are the same thing.

I don't buy a dinged up mercedes because I like mercedes so much that the visuals don't matter.

Looks are part of a product's value, whether you like it or not. Otherwise no one here would be driving anything other than a scratched up pre-2000s Corolla.

        • @StoneSin: what, you mean other people have cars better than than pre 2000, i felt exclusive with 1996 bmw.

        • @garage sale: mine is 4 years from the 70s.

          @Logical:

I'm genuinely interested to see how this looks. Do you have a picture by any chance?

  • the bundle on ebay it's including the sea of thieves not Rocket league
has anyone bought it? did you get Rocket league on pick up in store option

    thanks

    • Mine should arrive by Friday. I'll let you know.

  • Is the extra hardware grunt in xbox one x worth additional $270 or so?

    • no
yes it plays games at 4k but if you are looking at a tv from a distance it would be hard to tell

    • +1

Depends. It is worth considering if:

      • You have a 4K TV and/or you have a 4K monitor which supports free sync via HDMI
      • Future games released from now on are important to you and you really want/need at least 1080p@30fps or better (as it is known that new titles at times would use dynamic resolution on XB1/XB1S which won't even hit 1080p).
      • 1080p@60fps gaming is attractive to you
      • You don't mind paying the premium now

Majority of popular XB1X enhanced titles currently are not free (i.e. a lot of them are not in GamePass). You can see improved texture (for games providing 4K texture) and text (fonts are generally easy to do 4K enhancement) on a 4K TV/display. Not going to be a huge difference because a lot of dynamic effects, shadows won't be true 4K.

On newer games, XB1X will have resolution advantage, as well as improved draw distance, better effects, and less visible pop-in objects.

For example, The Crew 2 (see table below), none of the consoles can actually reach 4K@30fps - 2160p (not even XB1X). Neither PS4 nor XBox One/S can even reach 1080p. That's the issue with the releases of PS4 Pro and XBox One X. Games will start pushing the boundary a lot more.

      Console Resolution
      XBox One X 3200x1800 1800P
      PS4 Pro 2816x1584 1584P
      PS4/Slim 1728x972 972P
      XBox One/S 1600x900 900P

It really depends on the games you want to play.
