This isn't a deal, it's the regular price.

    • Good price compared to Bunnings discounted 4 pack for $6.90 posted about a week ago!

      • +3

Not same brand though otherwise everything Aldi or Ikea ( own brands) sells is a bargain compared to major brands.

        • +1

Gaggy is correct. Kogan sometimes sell this size 10pk for $5.

  • -2

True. You can get similar or cheaper price for good brands like Sony, Panasonic , etc.

    • +3

      well post them

      • Search ebay mate. These are normal prices one. You buy it from bunning when you are in rush…
        edit:
        All local Aus stock.

LoL for 5 pieces Bro! this is for 8! Keep going

        • +1

@RWONG: Oops, my bad. Didnt see 8 in title, but saw 4 in ur comment above. Fair price.
I still recommend these branded ones and save yourself a long drive to Ikea and spend more.

        • +1

No Problem Gaggy! I thought you were joking haha! I know what you mean… although I have always had a hit and miss with the SONY branded ones… sometimes great and sometimes not so great… ahh well..

        • @RWONG: I love the maxwell ones, 4 I bought few months ago are still going strong compared to ones I bought from kmart. I suspect ikea ones will last long. Having said that, their AA/AAA rechargeable ones are made in Japan and quite good.

        • How can you tell which are fake and the others are not? I bought a pack of "unbranded" from KG elec recently which last much longer than the "maxell" i bought before.

        • +2

@RWONG: and sadly those 5 pieces will probably last 5+ times as long as the 8 from IKEA. The IKEA ones are a false economy.

        • @gromit:

          That's true.
          I tested of it.

Bought a pack to replace my garage door opener. Didnt even last 1/2 year. Bought Energizer , still going strong after 18 months.

  • +5

I bought a pack of these and they lasted 2 weeks in my glucose reader whereas the Panasonic ones lasted about 2 months. Whole pack didn't last longer than the oem batteries.

  • Not sure if it is Plat Bodge…. Plart Bog…. Platihtih Boje

Something like plutt boy I think. Not sure if Aus IKEA staff are trained to recognise correctly pronounced faux-Swedish words anyway though…

I really dislike disposable batteries so i bought a rechargeable and charger on aliexpress for about $10.
In case anyone is interested in an option.

    Good price for these anyway

    • +2

What is the capacity of the rechargeable CR2032 batteries you bought? The only ones I can find have woeful capacity, less than 1/10th the capacity of the non-rechargeable ones.

    • Cool elchers, I didn't know such a product existed. Is it this one that you bought:

      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2PCS-LOT-New-Original-ML2032…

Is it good? Any idea about 'slow drain' or whatever it is called re these 2032s (i.e., losing charge over time while not in use)?

It seems to have almost all positive ratings on Ali …

The batteries are made in Japan I note, which will have the 'ENELOOPERS' excited (myself included)… I'm assuming the charger is made in China, but perhaps you can confirm?

      • That's the one I found, poor capacity. Says 65mAh, but the datasheet says you can only discharge 13mAh if you want to get 300 cycles out of it, or 6.5mAh if you want 1000 cycles.

Extrapolating from the datasheet's numbers, that means 90 cycles if you draw 26mAh from it, or 27 cycles if you draw 52mAh from it.

        A non-rechargeable CR2032 has about 230mAh capacity.

      • the batteries are more than likely the same.
I bought a cheapo (i think $2) board that has a microusb port. a bit of DIYing in my option.

I'm sure any would be OK. even if lower capacity, i don't care too much, I can just recharge it!

    • You can buy rechargeable for cr2032? Wow that's new (to me, at least)

I received some dud leaky batteries the last time I ordered cheap button cells from ebay. Buyer beware.
I'd buy these Ikea ones for peace of mind and guarantee that they actually work…

  • Where are these made?

    • +1

like 99% of goods, In china I guess.

  • If you order from Element14 on a regular basis, they sell Varta CR2032 batteries for 54 cents each (49 cents plus GST). More convenient if you only want one every couple of years, to keep your computer's internal clock running.

Don't do this unless you are already ordering from Element14, as the shipping cost is huge. If you add it to an existing order, shipping is essentially free.

I've just put one of these inside my remote unlocking car key. It is flat after a week :(

    • +2

      YES! SAME HERE!

These things are complete garbage, they seem cheap until you see how long they last. then you realise they are more expensive then even standard priced energizers.

  • +1

These don't last. Absolutely poo these.

  • I could not see any expiry date on the Ikea page. Does each package show one? If not I'd avoid these.

I usually buy Maxell from ebay as Gaggy has shown above. I look at the advertised expiry and check when they arrive.

    • True. I have seen 4-5 pack best value for money otherwise you will be storing most of them for over a year.
Other cheap brands from kmart, etc just dont last.

  • Kmart sell 4x CR2032 for 5$

    • They are crap tbh. Dont last long and you will use 4 of them in few months.

      • Mmmyeah, the battery compartments of most devices (i.e. 'PRC-derived') that use button batteries are evidently not 'built robustly enough' for the bats to be replaced every couple of months (never mind the additional hassle involved)… such devices seem to be designed around an expectation that whatever bat/s are used in them will last at least 6 months, if not more. So it seems maybe low quality bats or rechargeables that don't hold charge for more than a month or two may not be a good/frugal option…

  • I think for Energizer batteries $6.90 for 4 is ok. Compared to the $9.95 reg
