      nope.

      • Yes even on 1080p screens it’s worth it

Anyway just got one s and realised my hisense 4k uhd tv does not support 4k 60hz so i cant even watch anything in 4k..
    Bummer..

    • +1

Have you got it plugged into the HDMI 2.0 port on the TV?

      • Plugged in hdmi1…

        • The HDMI 2.0 ports on my hisense are ports 3 and 4.

        • +1

          @Buyingcrap:

Yep, same here. Try a different port and prepare your retinas. :D

    • You probably have to set your HDMI port to enhanced.

      • There is no option on the tv to change anything in regards to hdmi
        .

        • Had this issue. You need either a firmware upgrade or get on the phone to them

    • Go to Settings -> Display & sound. Does the Display shows Resolution: 4K UHD?

If not, in the same page, go to Setup -> 4K TV details, what info is being shown by XBox One S?

      • Pretty much ..nithing is suported except 4k 24hz 8 bit..

      • The hisense model is 55K680USD…

        • Your TV doesn't have HDMI 2.0 according to whirlpool forum posts. But, the real issue is, XBox One S/X will only allow 4K@24Hz video playback in 10 bit mode. Your TV only has 4K@24Hz in 8 bit mode (or only being detected at that mode). If you are not using HDMI1 port (the first HDMI port), use that and re-test.

Try to find an option in your TV called HDMI Deep Color Mode. If it has it, that could turn on 10 bit for HDMI which might allow XBox One S to let you play 4K UHD blu-ray. It won't do it with 8-bit (16.78 mil) colour space.

Also, in Display & sound (XB1S settings), go to Advanced video modes, if Allow YCC 4:2:2 option is available but not ticked, tick that and see if that would detect your TV being able to do 10-bit.

        • @netsurfer:

My XB1S had this weird orange grain through the image until I enabled YCC 4:2:2, so it will definitely change things.

        • @netsurfer: would hdmi converter work?

    • I have the same problem. Bought the xbox one x from the last deal and realised my hisense 50inch 4k doesn't support more then 4k 24hz unfortunately. No options to turn on anything for hdmi ports. I think all the ports also are only 1.4 and not 2.0. Having said that I can get my Xiaomi Mi Box to display 4k 30hz playback for YouTube but that's about it. I think it's due to the fact the tv is a late 2014 model. How old is your tv?

      • XBox One S/X won't allow 4K unless the TV can do 10-bit in 4K (i.e. 30 bits per pixel).

Refer to the XBox One support page.
Check Watching movies & TV section.

In tv options set to enhanced and use the correct Hdmi port

    • ?more details pls..

  • Is it worth the upgrade from a One S?

    • +1

      upgrade to a ps4 :^)

      • +1

Unless maybe all your friends play on xbox, in which case you need to upgrade your friends first.

    • I’m planning one for red dead redemption 2 - even without a 4K tv.
The ‘s’ seems to slow on some games, hoping the X is better - “Just Cause 3” stutters like crazy.

As for going to ps4 - not unless you want to be blocked from share play across all platforms; aka Fortnite debacle. ;)

      • Yeah it does run games better mate. Ive tried JC3 as well as alot of others. They all seem to be much smoother and look better even on my older hisense 4ktv which doesn't even display 4k due to the 24hz limitation of it.

The next gen system "Scarlett" was mentioned at e3 and is theorised to come with an AMD Ryzen, which is a huge upgrade over the current terrible AMD Jaguar (also present in the One X).

So personally I'm going to hold out for that rather than upgrade to the One X, since the current gen may end in 1-2 years.

Wow, $520 for a console these days? Couldn't you build a higher-spec'd and upgradable PC for this price?

    • +3

    • +3

I don’t know why you would think so

Probably because I'm not an xbox fanboy, but what would I don't know :)
