tax is the price we pay for the privelege of living in a reasonably fair and civil society

Tax is what most people THINK is required to provide those things. Some countries don't have tax but still have those things. It's just that most governments are lazy, greedy, and have nightmares over the thought we could actually survive without their hand continually in our wallets.

    • +2

We should all follow the perfect example of tax evasion demonstrated by the Greeks. They really showed the government whose boss and that taxes should be avoided.

  • Won't be using my US now they charge GST

  • I've never forwarded anything in my life but I don't get why a service that charges for forwarding would demand a USD $20 account setup fee to begin with. Is that on top of the premium account charge or for one off as well? Maybe I'm misinterpreting something…

  • Shipping cost is US$29 for a 2kg product with the 30% shipping discount applied.

  • Need to buy a replacement component for my scuba diving drysuit. Amazon US its $90Aud and Amazon AU its $180Aud. Using this deal and their postage prices what would I end up saving?

    • +5

Spend 5min finding out. It’s your money.

  • After 2 yrs do they start charging you without taking your consent again?

    • Yes.

  • +2

Need ideas what to import from USA before signing up, else it's kinda pointless. Would US citizens here share what you would only buy from back home?

    • Me too, we've til end of the month. I'll still sign up tho then I have 2 years to work that out lol

      • The problem with me is it's almost guaranteed I will forget about it if I don't use it, and probably continued to get billed even after 2 years haha.

        • I'd usually set a date on calendar to remind myself

        • +1

@chanwilson01: Unfortunately even with Calendar, I still forget I saw the reminder lol..

        • +1

@Droid11: Set up a calendar on your phone, like Google calendar. Set a few reminders before the date. It won't matter what phone you use, you'll still get the notification. Or set it up to email you.

I was one of the firsr guys to join these many years ago when they started up,even had a 20ft container of items i had shipped with them as was cheaper than using courier.
This was the days there was no storage fees maybe it was cause of me storage fees started oops.
I used them for many years and about 6 to 7 yrs ago stopped just was not buying much from usa anymore.
But there are a number of things i would like to buy now and probably find these useful again.
I heard about 6 to 7 yrs ago it was under new management not sure if true and it went down hill, probably the reason i never kept it open.
But i may have looked into it wrong place and got put off.
As this was offering a 2 yr deal thought start again more so when amazon are no longer shipping here.

I did notice about some form to download and needs to be filled in and have signed by someone before getting mail is this right?
I happen to see an item i want to order right now and can use there address as place dont send here.
Will i have to have this form filled in before i can does anyone know.

    • So what did you buy from US that you would need a container?

      • Loads of large boxes with collectibles i purchased from ebay and all over usa,i think I had let them lie there close to a year cant remember to the point it would be too much to send by courier.
So made sure after that i never had too many sitting about over there.
I did use these guys for about 10 plus yrs back then the days when there was no storage fees.
They was also one of the first of its kind to offer such service, now there are many doing it now.
I had no issues at all using them all that time, and i believe my membership might have been unique as was one of the first guys join with them.

        • You sound like a true professional! How much did it cost for shipping for your container? Also, what were the additional import fees like?

After 5 to 6 yrs of not using them and taking up this offer i check my bank account and they charged me twice for reinstatement i question what this is,they tell me i was owe them money lol.
I sure dont when i last them all them years ago my membership was due for renewal as i paid yearly.
But decided i had no use for it anymore and canceled, forward 6 yrs and wtf they charge me 2 x $16 usd which is around $24 aud.
They say i was owe them this i said sort it out or i have my bank deal with it.
They did not even have this promo ativated on my account.
I dont think they have the right to just charge my card on something so long ago and to be honest if i was owe them this why did they not charge me then.
Im now wondering if i want any part of this mob to be honest.
I sign up for 2 yrs free membership and lol get charged approx $48 aud on money they say i owe 6 yrs ago.

    • That's balls. Dig up your old email invoice - if you have it. Get your bank involved.

  • Finally got around to reading some reviews abd their rates. Very mixed review wise and rates seem expensive to me. Cheapest i saw was 20USD if small/light and all uphill from there. Not sure if ill even bother using this company seem a bit iffy.

    • Well they gotta make money somehow I guess. Postage ain't exactly something you could argue too much

  • Can anyone offer any advice for me.

Im travelling to Las Vegas in September and i want to be able to do buy a bunch of things in the US and then have them all shipped to my hotel. As the hotel charges usually per package to pick up , i thought a service similar to this would work well as they combine everything.

As this forward shipping services good to use within America? dose any know of any better options?

    Cheers

    • +1

All the hotels I have stayed and had things delivered never charged a delivery/pick up fee. TBH, none even expected a tip.

      • Did exactly this and was charged per package by the hotel in Vegas late last year. Same in Orlando a few years ago.

        Smaller hotels may not charge.

    • if it's anything off amazon, they have a lot of parcel lockers you can go and collect from

    • I had a lot, and I mean a lot, delivered to my timeshare in Orlando back in 2010, as we were going there in the December.
There were no problems at all and no storage fees. Maybe timeshare resorts have different policies to hotels.

Thanks OP. Got some insanely cheap north face gear from EMS. Factoring in Shipping and GST which is still way cheaper than buying locally here.

Errors out at the final stage with "An internal server error has occurred. Please retry later.".

    • Same here

  • This may allow you to bypass the GST on low value nonsense:

    1. Find a random ABN that's GST registered via https://abr.business.gov.au/Help/EntityTypeDescription?Id=12
    2. In MyUS My Account Settings > Shipping Preferences > enter number (without spaces) in Business Registration Number
    3. Tick "I am Exempt of Tax"
    4. RIP GST!

Should work for any other overseas shop/forwarder that allow entering of ABN for GST exemption.

      Sounds dodgy AF!

      • Sure does sound dodgy does anyone use it would love to use but not if it came back and bite me on the bum lol later.

        • I don't think its worth risking having the ATO or customs or whoever is responsible for GST chase you at some future point for GST evasion.

  • you Cant get this Deal with PAYPAL Right ?

    • Can't see why not. Just check the delivery address.

  • I will have one box 47 pounds (22 kg ) and 45 x 29 x 10 inches ( which looks like 45 kg volumetric weight) from Bixby Oklahoma 74008 USA which I would like shipped to Sydney. Would this service be best or is there a cheaper/ better way ? Shipping cost is exceeding the cost of the goods big time. PS No wonder most roads seem to leave from China these days when the cost of seafreight ex USA is currently between 6 to 10 times the price per cubic metre of what is being charged ex China !

  • Regarding the gst I had an item sent from Amazon USA which normally say what item costs, but these guys are saying it has no invoice and until I provide a value can't ship.
I have plans to ship but when I have a few things together when I used them many years ago I was living elsewhere and had them value my goods at under what I paid, they was happy to but I did do at realistic prices.
Has anyone provided them values of items that may not have had price on them?
If so did you give right price or less and did you have to send them your invoice you got originally as I'm sure it asked this in the message.
To be honest I have been getting pre orders I had from various amazons worldwide direct to Australia and not been charged any gst wonder why?
But yet these guys are asking upfront before sending goods,is this cause they are dealing with shipment they have too?
It would be good if I can just give them a price under what I paid but not too low even if item was on a special price.
I would like to know from others who use these regularly and since this gst started.
Don't get why anything I have ordered either amazon or other retailer etc I not been charged anything extra.

    • I have had them accept the values I gave them and on other items they asked for me to upload an invoice. So bear in mind you may need to provide proof of whatever value you provide.

      • Ok thanks but what is it to them what price you request they don't get anything from it just a bit lighter in my pocket,I could say an amount but if they ask invoice then it show different, many years ago in another country I used to use these guys and always reduced the values of items as would have spent a small fortune.

        • Can only speculate on their motivation - I guess if they undervalued something (on your advice) and customs objected then it is them who would be liable.

  • wait this is now expired ?

  • I recently just had my first shipment to Australia previously it was in another country where they where great. They have a list of your items in your suite and weight to each item.
It was coming upto my 30 days where I nesded to get sent it I be charged storage im pretty sure it went over my 30 days but no charge.
Anyway going by what my estimate was I went for economy but comparing it was only $6 usd more for priority so went with that. I asked them to ad some packing at extra cost and insurance.
My reasons for using them again after all these years being a big blu ray collector and Amazon no longer shipping to us this was another way to get the stuff I was after.
Ready to submit my shipping I then get a higher weight how is this when they had weight if all items already all then did was add all my items into a bigger box and added very little packing which I paid $5 usd for.
But it ended up being like $40 more than my estimate.
I asked them to leave my items in there boxes which protects them inside bigger box with other items, but this does not make any difference to my estimate weight as I'm sure that would have been included buy I need to ask that.
My biggest issue here beingna collector of blu Rays limited editions etc I like to keep them sealed if I fancy opening them then i do but I have many sealed.
Three of my larger more expensive items one from Amazon and two from eBay sellers all sealed and I know they open the boxes they arrived in to them but that's all they need to do, then unsealed my new items as well took off the seals and probably unwrapped any bubble wrap etc if was protected.
They don't even bother to wrap them back up just placed them bare inside there boxes again no seals on them anymore and no protection apart from box the arrived in not even taped/sealed up.
One of these items was an edition its worth more sealed than is opened myself personally I would have kept it sealed but these guys just took the seal off which to me is way wrong.
My amazon order again seal ripped off and Jc are ripped off also and lying in box my it item all scuffed up by no protection from its seal or extra over as it would have been sent like.
I think it's an utter joke it's not as if they can't see what the item is and is news and sealed why rip off seal on items to me makes them now look they where purchased used.
Being. A collector if your planning on using them for Blu rays limited editions of that kind keep well away as they don't give a shit about your items and rip you off after you submit your request to ship saying it's more.
I never use these guys again 2 free years or not as a collector them unsealing my items is a no no if anyone should unseal them it should be much choice not there's. Yes open the package or box items arrived in but not rip off the seals.
That's like you buying from eBay or Amazon etc they remove the seal from it and you get it thinking is this used.
    Stay well clear.

    • They took seals off blu rays? Why would they need to do that? Did they tell you?

    • $40 extra is steep. DVDs weigh nothing. Can't fathom why they would break a seal. That's poor form.

      • Yes a premium worth $140 usd removed it's seal ,a limited edition no longer available from retailer who sold it once $120 removed seal from its box I'm not too fused about that as would be taken out box to display and a numbered limited Dc set removed seal and j card. Idiots I say. what are they looking for? Yes it's law to open boxes to inspect but not to remove seals from brand new items.
The premium is worth more sealed than unsealed if I ever wanted to sell it one day and even all of this they never even took the time to wrap them back up and place in there boxes just stuck back in and left boxes all open.
They have lost a potential good customer here I'm not into buying new items for them to rip of seals and toss back in a box with no care.
If you collect what I do stay well clear as it's a joke I'm even trying to complain about it all can't be done by live chat but inky email a day has passed and not even a reply.

      • It's not just a single blu ray it's a set in a book one was and an other with a model with a bit of weight to it and bigger limited edition case style item with goodies inside as well as about 9 single DVDs

        • Same for me as well. Just replying here for any future customers who are looking for a usa freight forwarder. Do not use this company if you value your items. My first orders were 2 collectors edition games. Obviously they come sealed from the factory but they will open the shrinkwrap without any care by using a box cutter permanently damaging the outer box with deep knife cuts. There goes the nice collectors box.
Cancelled my membership within 2 weeks of creating an account.
I would rather pay another company more who actually cares about handling your goods.

  • This is a word of caution for those who consider using this shipper.

I have used HopShopGo, Shipito and other shippers. Though MyUS may be cheaper in terms of deadweight vs volumetric weight, it is true that (I've read from other comments) they have quite a number of hidden costs, and my last experience was not pleasant.

First off, they are very pedantic with documentation. They must 'see' the actual receipt (particularly with high-value shipments), and after you submit, they have to check and approve it, before you can ship. And even after creating a shipping request, they had to approve it with their 'Trade Compliance Team'. I didn't know they had so many 'committees'. Shipito and HSG were much easier to deal with.

One of the charges they had was the Automated Export System (AES) reporting charge, for items costing more than $2500, which they send in a report to US customs, informing them of what is being exported out of their country. I was surprised to see a USD50 (yeah that much) for this. I chatted with an online agent, who told me that I could split the package, to avoid the fee. Then another agent stepped in, said it was illegal and felony etc etc, and refused to split the package, even after 'suggesting' that I be more discreet about asking this next time, and not use the words 'avoid AES'.

I later found out from my regular shipping that when they engage DHL or Fedex, DHL or Fedex does this submission for $10-$15 only, or sometimes not even charging it. So apparently, it doesn't necessarily cost $50. I checked online and found this:

    https://www.cbp.gov/trade/aes/general-faq

Apparently depending on the company's setup, it can even be free. Here is an excerpt from the website:

'There are several options available to you, including cost free filing over the Internet using AESDirect or other relatively inexpensive filing options using the Internet.'

I was dismayed to find out that they might have potentially profited by charging an excessive fee for filling up a webpage. For what's its worth one of my small packages did cost competitively (about $20), which might have cost more with the other shippers. YMMV.

My last shipment ended up costing the same, if not more than the other regular shippers like HSG and Shipito. I'm not aware of how many other hidden costs MyUS my impose on future shipments, but I know I will think twice or thrice using them anymore, free premium membership or not. Be aware of their hidden fees, of which you may not know till your package is with them.

Just a word of caution for anyone who might be using them.
