Amazon Australia 7.5% Cashback @ Cashrewards (Auto Tracking)

3260

Hi all. We exclusively launched Amazon Australia on May 1 and were the first cashback site invited to do so globally. We never envisaged we'd have an issue processing transactions, but that became apparent after two weeks as there were technical issues with the data reported to us. We sent out emails to all affected members and put banners on site requesting invoices for us to process as fast as we could. We immediately approved the first batch at a higher rate than advertised.

We were quite literally smashed (over 8,000 claims) to the point we had to bring in temporary staff to handle the overload. What's really disappointing is reading comments berating the process. But think about it - what would the alternative have been for the past 10 weeks - no cashback for anyone! We made the process as simple as possible and have done everything to keep our members informed & happy. But we move on. If you're yet to send us your post-shipping PDF invoice for a purchase made prior to July 13, please do so at [email protected] and the team will take care of it for you.

From this past Friday (July 13), I'm happy to say we're now on auto pilot for Amazon Australia tracking. No more invoices - just BAU as with other merchants. We've lifted the cashback rate to 7.5% (up from 5%) across the board for all purchases which should be a nice bonus during Amazon Australia's Prime event. Thanks again for your ongoing support of Cashrewards and please know I'm always here to help. Enjoy :)

A small education piece:

Please always ensure your last click before purchase is from Cashrewards. Simply click Shop Now and complete your shopping without leaving the Amazon Australia site. A lot of untracked claims come from the fact members have other tabs open and/or are using Google or comparison sites to review their product/s before purchase. All cashback/rewards sites work off a simple principle - last click. The winning affiliate is always the one that receives the last click. Also turn off any AdBlock/uBlock/Ghostery as well as Safari (mobile and/or desktop) Cross-Site Tracking. Finally, you must return and click through from Cashrewards to Amazon Australia every time you make a new transaction/purchase.

    We love competitions!

      Careful, that might trigger Harvey

    • We love TA even more.

  • Noice!

    • -1

      Noice tight arse.

    • +7

Hi asa79. There was a reason for that and it’s explained in the OP. Thanks.

  • +10

Good work TA. I think your work as a poster and as a rep for CR is appreciated, even if people get their undies twisted sometimes.

  • Bring on the reward wars!

  • +6

Don't want to sound like a shill (I'm obviously not) but TA has been a really good rep for Cashrewards and restored my faith in CR.

  • I knew this would happen :P

  • +2

I got negged for challenging TA to beat Shopback…

Well done mate + from me!

    • +1

      no longer beat…

  • -1

Is the cashback sitewide with no restrictions

    • No reply?

      Used shopback instead

  • +7

FYI, Shopback has increased to 7.5%!

  • Good news

  • +2

Now if you could please fix the Chrome extension icon, it's extremely difficult to tell when it's active.

    https://goo.gl/69hQBb

Left one is not active, right is.

I've left it at original size to show how hard it is to tell (looks even less obvious in Chrome than these pics).

  • -1

Can we get dual cashback from shopback and CR?

    • +2

      No.

    • +2

Hi thelastnoob. No. The rewards site that you click out from last will be the one your sale is attributed to.

  • +7

Thank you so much TA for the intense amount of work you have put in to get this deal here!

    • +1

He's my best friend, I love him.

  • G'day!

  • Is there any max cashback amt / per transaction?
And does cashback track/pay if I order 2 or more separate transactions on the same day?

    Prime is killing my wallet..

    • You must return and click through from Cashrewards to Amazon Australia every time you make a new transaction/purchase.

  • -4

Pain in the backside with the manual tracking. Never using CR for Amazon again.

    • +2

Lol. You didn’t read the OP. Fair enough. But who else would have given you Amazon cashback for the past 10 weeks? Classic example of what I wrote up top.

      • -2

Just because you were the only ones doesn't make it ok, it was really annoying having to send emails each time no matter how you paint it. CR team should be striving for the best not enough to get by.

        • +10

As I said, what was the alternative? Not sure how much more transparent you’d like me to be, but sending in an invoice in return for 5% back on anything was a very small price to pay I’d suggest. Then again, each to their own.

        • +5

Do you think they would have launched if they had known they'd run into severe technical issues like this? Nope, that just costs them time, money and hate from the community. Shit happens. Their way of handling it is loads better than other companies who would shove it under the rug and say "good luck".

        • +2

@tightarse: How much does CR make from the consumers to offer 5% back?

        • @Clear:

Or could have just removed the offer in the interim, which would lead to more complaints.

Mistakes happen, they fixed the issue and hired temp staff to clear backlog.

          Can't ask for more.

  • Does it track from safari on iPhones or do you have to use a web browser on your desktop/laptop?

    • Hi tokziktigah. Safari on iPhones & desktop is tricky because of Cross-Site tracking. Please ensure you…

Also turn off any AdBlock/uBlock/Ghostery as well as Safari (mobile and/or desktop) Cross-Site Tracking.

  • Quick question, my Amazon email is different to my cashrewards email, would it still track as long as I use the link?

    • +2

Yep, totally separate. Important thing is last click attribution.

    • +5

Lol. Did you neg the SB post earlier so people ‘are aware’?

      • -4

Dont take it personally. I just thought people may assume CR are offering the best rates given the deal has 160 upvotes. Nothing against CR at all

        • +6

Nothing personal at all. But still haven’t answered my question.

        • +7

Not fair to attack this deal with a neg when they went to 8% AFTER this deal was posted. You may as well look up historical deals for SSDs and neg them too. Since current prices are better now than then.

        • @tightarse:

I didnt neg them. When you increased the rewards to 7.5% shopback promptly matched this as far as I'm aware.

Mods If it's not appropriate to use a neg in this situation feel free to revoke my vote.

        • +1

          @Clear:

People arent still acting on those old SSD deals.

People have a choice between shopback and cashrewards and I think its largely driven by the % rate avaliable.

I think OP should at least acknowledge that this isnt the best deal avaliable at the moment.

        • @philmurray91: Big difference between asking the rep to acknowledge that it isn't the best deal available anymore and negging the deal.

        • @Clear:

Is that right? I thought a neg was valid if you can show a better deal for the same item?

          Pretty clear here…

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

I've signed up for CR, and my credit 9s slowly growing. If it's easy to do, I'll stick with it, but shop back does some great deals too.

        • @Robc: Except when this deal was posted Shopback had a lower rate than Cashrewards. That's the problem.

  • -3

We never envisaged we'd have an issue processing transactions

Rookie error 101. With years of history of ozbargain comments about online company servers being smashed I find this difficult to fathom and bordering on naive.

    • -1

Looks like you've spoken negatively CR on OZB Rookie error #1. Brace for the negs

      • +1

        Don't take it personally.

    • +1

Servers being smashed wasn't the issue though.

      • -1

Merely an example of things do go wrong. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

        • +2

They identified the issue, took steps to correct it and offered compensation for the inconvenience. That's a better response than most companies would ever offer.

    • +3

its not about the servers being smashed, if you read the post correctly it was 'technical issues with the data reported to us'

Rookie error 101 not reading correctly.

      • +3

I think Cashrewards need to get Specsavers onboard. Quite a few people here can't seem to read too well.

  • I went through the cashrewards site and it linked me to the Amazon app on my phone. I then made my purchase as normal, I would assume this will be tracked?

    • +2

Nope, won't work. The cashrewards site also didn't link you to the app. You have your phone browser setup so that when it sees certain URLs it auto opens an app.

  • I made an order like 30 mins ago, when I activated CR, it was 6.5%!
TA can you look after me?!

  • +1

Thanks TA for all your hard work. I have a quick Q. How long does it take to show up as being tracked? It says automatic but I made a purchase and its not showing up automatically. Cheers

    • Ditto.

    • +3

      Hi bigben…

Orders made from July 13 onwards will be tracked & processed automatically into your Cashrewards account as pending within 4 days of your item/s being shipped.

      • -1

Hi TA … Made purchase 2 hours ago but not recd any tracking email confirmation like usually get for other stores … just wanted to be sure that it's not a glitch. Cheers

        • +1

Not a glitch at all. Tracking emails are generated & sent as soon as the transaction hits your CR acct as above.

      • +1

        Hi bigben

Big Ben and Tightarse, this isn't going to end well.

  • My PS4 purchase from amazon au via cashrewards still does not show the possible cashback and no email received ?

  • Hi TA,

How long will the cookie for tracking remain active for? I clicked the cashback link at 12:01 pm, and made the order at 12:20 pm without leaving Amazon. Will the order be tracked without any issue?

    Cheers

    • Hi nosrad. As long as you haven't navigated out from Amazon AU after clicking from CR, your cookie is good for 180 minutes.

      • +1

        Thank you TA

      • One more question TA… If I modify the delivery and billing address after making the order, will it affect the cash back?

        • +1

Hi again nosrad. I can't answer either way with any certainty as we have no history as yet on this type of change for Amazon AU. If you can't avoid having to make the change and you lose tracking because of it, ping me down the track and I'll see what I can do. Obviously prefer you not to make any changes to the order :)

  • Hey, so i have the $10- credit on my amazon account from the recent prime video watch deal. This shouldn’t hinder me getting cash back ? It’s not a code or anything. Just want to be sure. Thanks TA

    • Hi shonofear. You'll get cashback on the spend amount less the credit. Any issues, you know where to find me :)

      • +1

        Thanks you kind sir

  • Lol. nvm

  • +2

Items added to shopping cart before clicking from Cashrewards will not earn Cashback.

If I have items in save for later and then move to cart after I click will that work?

    • +1

Hi sss. This is fine as long as you click back through Cashrewards before each transaction.

      • +1

        Ok,thanks.

    • awww poop. there goes all my cashbacks.. had them in cart went to cashrewards clicked through to amazon, purchased cart.. :-( FAIL

  • So with auto tracking now working, should I have got a confirmation email soon after?

    • Hi Gary. Please see here.

      • Hi TA

I understood that but on some sites I get an email within minutes (or so) telling me that the purchase has been tracked and will be listed as pending.

Didn't get that today on Amazon so was checking if anyone knew.

        • tracked & processed automatically into your Cashrewards account as pending within 4 days of your item/s being shipped.

From what I can see, you should receive a tracking email within 4 days of your order being shipped. Has your item shipped yet?

        • @stuhtb: No not yet.

  • Do I have to use the same email address to register for both Amazon and CR? My registered email with Amazon is different to the one I registered with CR so I wonder it might cause any issue with tracking

    • +1

      Hi frugalbat. Please see here.

  • I have made more than 10 separate orders over amazon au in the last couple of days, everytime i used the cashrewards button and it said cashback is active etc. But to this date i still have not received on email stating that my cashback / order is tracking, usually i receive that from cashrewards within a few minutes of placing an order. Is there something different with amazon?

    • Hi lonewolf. Yes it's slightly different for Amazon AU. Please see here as per the terms.

  • -1

If I made 20 different purchases prior 13 July, do I just email all the tax invoices in 1 email to [email protected] or have to send 20 emails instead?

  • How come it now says 6% (instead of 7.5%) on the Cashrewards site?

  • I recieved cashback mails for my 4 Prime orders but the cashbacks are very low, e.g 50c on an $80 order. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

    • +1

If you can, please turn on your PM and ping me your CR email address. Please remember that Amazon AU reports on a per item basis, not cart value. Talk soon :)

      • +1

Its ok, I didn't realize it was per item. That explains the issue. It just happened the number of Orders and Items in the first order was the same, so I got confused.

  • Anyone still waiting for their cashreward emails from the 16th? Not blaming cash rewards as it is what it is but I’m getting a bit worried. I’ve never had an enquiry go my way. except the first one which was a good will…

    • +1

mine just updated/tracked half an hour ago.

      • +1

Woo hoo mine are coming in now too, looks like I jumped the gun

  • +1

Received my tracking emails just a day after delivery and at the right rate, that's awesome, thank you TA :)

  • still waiting on CR to track my order
