$199 P/M for Unlimited Mobile Data/Calls/SMS/MMS from Australia to O/S Numbers (No Capped Speed) @ Telstra

651

Telstra has today unveiled its new $199 “Ultimate” mobile plan – Australia’s most expensive uncapped ‘unlimited’ mobile data deal.

The latest initiative forms part of the “Telstra 2022” strategy, which seeks to streamline mobile offers within the next three years.

Contrary to rival ‘unlimited’ data offers, the $199 Ultimate plan does not feature a speed cap, however, is “not shareable”, restricted to “personal [smartphone] use” and is governed by a “FairPlay” policy.

Set to be Telstra’s most expensive consumer plan, the deal will cost consumers $4,776 across 24 months.

The new Ultimate plan will reportedly target top-end customers – those who value unrestricted, consistently high Telstra 4GX data speeds.

        • Using 12/1 now 1000gb for $35 a month.. this $130 1000/x deal sounds so tempting.

        • @AlienC: Think the trial was over though. Was a special.

I got 100/50 for $60/month yay TPG FTTB!

So 180/month is not bad For the speed factor

        • @Turd: lol what

So you are on 100/50 for $60/month for life now?

          What is the 180/month

        • @AlienC: ya until tpg increases prices. But I'm on tpg own fttb network so it's not NBN.

This telatra mobile plan after selling fone

      • There is a disclaimer in the Telstra deal that says its a breach of your contract if you attempt to tether..

        • That's the resource I was looking for. Thank you :)

        • Quote it, exactly as stated if you found it.

Nothing in the CIS explicitly states no tethering.

Simple 'for use in a smartphone only' (ie no Mobile Broadband device) and no 'sharing', which refers to 'data sharing/data pools', which their new plans have removed (no data pools on any of these 'unlimited', speed capped or otherwise plans).

        • @thargelios:

Unacceptable or unreasonable use of the service includes at 10.18(d):

This includes using your service with any form of encryption that is intended to avoid or limit the detection of any form of data usage (such as video, music and connecting your smartphone to another device e.g. via tethering)

10.19 In addition to the rights we have under clause 10.16, if we reasonably consider that you are
using your service fraudulently or in breach of clause 10.18, your service may be slowed,
suspended, terminated or restricted without notice to you.

          @Ethernia:

That doesn't say tethering ISN'T Allowed, only that you cannot use encryption to mask your activities.

This covers service providers to give them a way to cancel services if people are suspected of using it for illegal purposes (and attempting to mask what they are doing).

It's not to stop people tethering their phone to their laptop while they're working at a cafe.

Stop reading into it too far.

10G international roaming data is pretty good if you travel a lot.

Not related sorry. I have an aquantence who was sold an 18gb plan. He has a learning disability and is on a pension. They should never got him on a contract. He used 100GB of data for the first 3 months of his plan. With the plan canceled and phone costs, he is at around 5k in debt for three months of usage. After an unsucessful complaint with the TIO, the Public Trustee is now fighting telstra. Now with a plan like this out, my head explodes from furstration of the situation.

    • That sucks a lot. I love how in this case Telstra had no consideration, and was only trying to milk money. 1, for only selling a contract plan. 2, for still attempting to charge even though it was abundantly clear that this individual is on a learning disability.

  • Interesting to see they have a 'Premium Customer Service' (is this Telstra' version of actual customer service?) on this plan:

    Premium customer service
Your Plan includes access to a dedicated 24/7 helpdesk staffed by some of Telstra’s best customer representatives. If you have any issues with your Telstra Premium Mobile service, don’t hesitate to call us on 1800 890 655. Queries about your other services should be directed to our normal support channels.

StayConnected Advanced™ sounds interesting too, but is that available on all contract plans?

  • For me this epitomises stupidity of Australian internet, and of the Australian customers since people will actually buy this load of crap

    • If it's marketed as a replacement for 'slow NBN speeds', like one news article did, why would you blame customers?

If everyone had consistent and reliable home internet services, then I'd probably agree with you (mostly). But given a large portion still don't (us included), I think you're not thinking outside your box.

  • If only if I could be provided with some amway details…

I could sign up as a vip and be ready incase these plans come to amway.

    • +2

the telstra/amway support staff are out in the cold, awaiting a reply to their internal email requesting some insight alas

      • AMWAY is a 10% discount on whatever the NEW (MID) 2018 plan offerings are. So $199-10%=$179 + any handset costs

You cant move from the old plans to the new ones, the old ones have been withdrawn; but you can renew at 12months with the $149 new phone feeling promise.

No data sharing on the new plans, but you can tether from your device and from what i can gather <>200gb a month is not going to set off any alarms for usage.

If they detect the sim on a modem and not a phone and usage is outside what they deem acceptable they will pull the plan but otherwise its UNLIMITED (think they still might get spanked over this but thats not my problem)

IBO/VIP discount is the same. Its free to get a amway vip number ( https://shop.amway.com.au/en/Register/RegisterClientPublic) and then call the telstra.com/amway number and 1800 42 66 99 is the partner number for telstra specialised support. Im not an IBO and you will need to ask amway for one to sign up, they will add you to their nearest one to you. Ive never heard from them or my IBO I signed up with/from. All this info is as accurate, VIP membership is FREE. IBO costs something but you can get commision from signups.
