Hey rep, I was with ABB 6 months ago. Can I take advantage of this if I come back? Thanks

    • +2

Hi No, you will be able to use this code as the system will allow it. - Cheers, ABB

That was so confusing to read at first..

        Thanks! I have signed up.

      • All up and running, thanks rep!

  • I'm interested in changing but this doesn't seem like a good switch for me

On TPG I'm on the fttn NBN50 plan, and I get 45039 Downstream 12085 Upstream, so virtually the most I can expect to get given my distance to the exchange. This costs me $69 a month and I can pay-as-I-go home phone for $0 month which I don't really need but it's there.

The equivalent on ABB is $84 a month. $79 if I give up the home phone

I've never noticed peak time slow down. So r.e. ABB vs TPG what's the point for me?

    • Move to Mungi to save $4.95 a month

      • I’m with Mungi but the peak slow down is a real thing.

        • How bad?

  • How much do Aussie Broadband charge for an NBN compatible modem?

  • http://www.speedtest.net/result/7503952124 just got home for those wondering didn't need vdsl2 unlike how i was told.
    all to my self :D.

not bad for peak hours (150/100 plan)

gonna drop down to 100/40 after free month as i don't need this as much as i want it
find me another provider that does that amazing speed (they go upto 250/100 but backhaul wasnt good enough for my area) and then this stable during peak hour

    solid work ABB :)

  • Don't only look at this as price for plan but what you get out of it too. ABB are on an uncongested network (at least in Sydney CBD) and 100 mbit really does mean you get pretty close to 100 mbit connection. Whether peak evenings, weekends or 3AM in the morning you get max bandwidth speed.

You will find cheaper 'up-to' 100 mbit connections but you're lucky to get even half of that speed at peak so it's not really good value at all.

Mate Communicate were pretty good but Aussie Broadband definitely trumps them in terms of speed and stability (same modem unit works btw but you have to alter settings). I would recommend a trial esp if free. They still need to work on the upload speeds and limits though.

    • don't forget ABB can go up to 250/100 on some fttp spots :)

If you are looking at joining up, they have another deal running at the same time for a free modem. $149 saving if you'd like their premium modem instead.

I forget if I'm allowed to cross link another deal to here, but it's on OzBargain now.

    • FREEMODEM? no it doesn't work

    • Can definitely cross link to a better deal, especially if it's too help people get a better deal. That's what this site is here for!

Well yeah, that's annoying having signed up last week with the $10 off per month (and not even RFS till late September) as thought I'd better sign up as they could have ended the promo early. Should have waited.

Seems a bit stupid though running multiple promos at the same time (and all starting and ending at different times.)

  • So can people get the free modem deal instead of they signed up to this deal? Much better deal if you need the modem, and it seems a bit dickish to advertise this as a special deal and use it to lock people out of a better one.

  • I have been on ABB since December last year on HFC 100/40. The connection never misses a beat, I always get great speeds, low latency and no packet loss.

On the NBN I have used SkyMeh, Telecube and now ABB. ABB is by far the best and comparable if not better than my Telstra Cable experience I had prior to the NBN coming in my area.

    • Yeah I'm looking at moving from Telecube. So its a bit more stable? Have you noticed your IP address being fairly static? (Or are you a normal person and don't look at such things?) Because i do like the static IP (or semi-static) for an incoming VPN connection (i do have a dynamic dns)

Funny I've finally logged a job with Telecube as speeds went from 85Mbps during the day to around 35Mbps (the Vocus speedtest node was barely reaching 20Mbps) and theres been increasing congestion/outages. After a bit of back & forth they logged a job with NBN, who haven't come back. But as if by magic some NBN techs were across the road most of yesterday running cables from the HFC box to the Telstra pits.

Suddenly today I'm hitting 90+Mbps even in Vocus. Still not a patch on Telstra 4g :-)

      • The connection is much more stable, with Telecube I would get unexplained speed drops and lousy customer support. The IP on ABB is not static but it is ‘sticky’, I have had the same IP since I joined them in December last year.

        • Excellent. I like sticky. Looks like it's time to move.

  • Makes me wonder why Aussie so aggressively rang me several weeks ago to sign me up as we just got the NBN in my area. I went with TPG because I needed a new modem/router and couldn't be bothered buying a new one myself.

If I had have said yes I would have been a little pissed off at this deal. Companies please start to try and keep your customers happy. I hate this 50% off for the first 12months for 'new' customers. Please ring before the end of a contract and keep us happy because there's lots of competition out there.

PS I have just gone from VDSL2+ to the NBN 50 plan and it is sooooo much better, iinet please stop telling customers not to change over in the ACT. In my circumstance we've gone from 9mbit to 47/48mbits. Although we look to be about 200m to our node so maybe others wouldn't be so lucky.

  • Do you get a real public IP or is it CGNAT?

    • Signed up and it is a real public IP.

    • Real Public IP.

If you want to host web site you will need to contact them to open port 80.

  • Well that just sucks :( I just tried to sign up to the Ultrafast 250mbps plan and it seems that I can only get up to 100mbps here in Parramatta on FTTP. I wonder why. Limitations during this promo? Not enough CVC? It's a relatively new apartment building and I was hoping to try out these super fast speeds.

    • Got to be over 1GB of CVC on your POI before they offer 250/100. Which also means they need to have upgraded the backhaul to 10GB which they are in the process of doing everywhere.

I’ve been with ABB for around a year now, don’t notice any peak time slow downs like I did with TPG and Belong. Would recommend trying ABB for a month, you’ll be happy for sure.

  • How's the ipv6 situation? Is it fixed?
