        • Your question was "you have upload limit?". Since you were replying directly to the ABB rep's statement of unlimited upload for $10/month, I thought it was safe to surmise that you were asking whether or not the upload speed was capped beyond the upload rate you should be getting for the plan you are on.
The $10/month bolt on is not going to increase your upload speed to match your download speed. It doesn't work that way. What the bolt on means is that your upload speed will be what it already is, but as others have mentioned the data usage will not count towards your quota. Obviously on an unlimited plan it is not applicable, but the ABB rep was responding to someone who was asking about non-unlimited plans.

        • @noz:

          Thanks

I should ask whether they have upload data limit because I forgot they have data limited plan.

      • Brilliant, thanks for pointing that out.

    • Telecube have unlimited uploads on all their offers.

      • Cheers mate.

    • curious, how to host ?

      • +2

Depends on what you want to host, for videos etc Plex or Emby are good choices. You'll also probably want a NAS for storage, but it isn't needed.

      • +1

Hi phunky, I run a Plex media server with individual accounts for all my family members, elderly parents etc. Easier to manage and let then watch what they like without too much drama.

  • I wanted to apply for a new connection (ADSL) churning away from (garbage) TPG which relies on (even more garbage) "overloaded" Telstra infrastructure.
Aussie Broadband was not able to assure me the success of this connection or availability even after providing my full address.
So I thought I would pay Aussie Broadband $65 for the Family Plan plus $110 connection fees = $175 without any assurance that I would get what I pay for.
How does this stuff works? I know it isn't Aussie Broadband's fault but I still make an agreement with them. Any suggestion?

In the mean time I went to Seoul, world class internet, world class mobile network, world class public transport, world class micro banking transactions = Australia is still in the Stone Age!

    • +2

We have a lot of geological disadvantages that they don't have. It's hard to compare us to Korea or Japan.

      • Do you mean never jailed politicians?

      • Actually it's not due to geological disadvantages. It's due to density almost entirely. North East Asian geology is very hard to build on.

        • maybe I should have said geographical? I confuse the two.

Big land, small population = expensive to run cables to serve a small number of people.

Dense population, small land = infrastructure is much more efficient to build, serves a large number of people, expenditure becomes a very good investment.

It would cost a lot more money for us to get their broadband speeds than it would cost them. And that's why our broadband sucks compared to other countries.

    Hello Rep,

It would be great if you could offer some incentives for the existing Aussie Broadband customers.

You are probably aware that you have a large customer base here and I am sure everybody will appreciate some incentives similar to this offer offered last year.

    Regards,
    One of your loyal customer

    • +6

Hi Bappy, I do appreciate your feedback. I will pass this onto our team for consideration for future deals - cheers, ABB

      • +4

It's painful to see how a business doesn't understand that on a saturated market* winning a new customer is overall the same as keeping an existing one.
Caring only about new signups but giving practically zero care about existing customers is a dumb habit and only benefits sales reps with "new" targets, but not the business, and the customers, overall.

        * We can safely assume that the home internet market is saturated, as in, the overall number of customers aren't increasing more than the population growth. People who wanted to have internet at home, already have internet at home, similar to banking, mobile phone providers, and so on. This isn't quite the case with growing markets like online video and audio streaming, where the overall number of customers is still sharply increasing and creating promotions exclusively for new customers make perfect sense.

      • +1

One of the chat reps from other service providers told me that the companies(any service provider not just internet) are limited to passing on promotions to existing customers when compared to new customers due to some government act that protects competition. Is this true to your knowledge or is it false information?

        • It's the same for employers getting tax payers' money (stolen money) for employing new staff then they sack the new staff after 1 month and the cycle continues.
One employer I know he gets $8,000 free money and free of tax for each employee then he sacks the employee and gets another one.
You see now the majority of internet providers offer a service without a contract which is a misleading statement (and the government does nothing) since you still agree to a contract also you must give one month notice.

    • @Bappy This has already been discussed on Whirlpool, you probably received a bonus when you got the service so now is the turn for new clients :)

      • +2

Thanks. I am sure the new clients will also appreciate this when they turn into existing clients :)

I personally think companies should also give offers to their loyal clients (i.e. who stayed with them for more than 6-12 months)…

        • +1

Nowadays not even 10+ year loyal customers have any importance (for example Telstra's customers) for a big business which offers a contract without contract let alone a 12 month customer :)

        • +1

@dealhunt: Yeah you are right - its Sad but True

        • Agreed, ppl so shortsighted now they trip over their own feet.
Potential new customer but agree 100% with u and + voted.

  • I am currently with Telecube 25/5 500gb for $45/month and includes voip. Love the free month with ABB, but to continue with the same packages, it's gonna cost me some extra $20+$5 voip a month. I wonder if I can jump back to Telecube after 2 months with ABB with the same charges, hoping Telecube doesn't change the package

    • If your not a hardcore binge watcher to international sites or gamer, telecube is fine, 5-10 mins of downtime a day won't affect you.

But if you're an online gamer or binge watch shows, it'll get annoying when it says your char is still currently logged in and can't log in, sites not working when you want it to, or shows not working or gotta look for other sites cause it started to stutter.

ABB Im confident to recommend, other than the a 30mins maintenance every week or 2 from 12am-6am, they're solid and everything runs fine whenever you're using it.

1-2yrs ago they were good, 3 months ago and they're still good. I only left cause of value and how they kinda shoot themselves in the foot with the no contract.

  • Hey @aussiebroadband - do your awesome NBN deals apply to places with only a HFC connection?

    • Hi railspider, these prices are for all fixed line services. - cheers, ABB

  • +2

and my area will finish NBN in mid 2019 R.I.P

    • My suburb was supposed to get fibre to node by exactly this time this year but they delayed it a whole year :(
Still stuck with ADSL2+ spread through five people FeelsPerthMan.

  • If I disconnect my service and connect back up with ABB can I get this deal?

    • What is the point if you port over to another ISP and port back for just this deal? You have to pay for the other ISP anyway.

      • You don't need to port over. You could simply disconnect and have no provider.
You may be confusing it with mobiles - where there's the problem of losing your mobile number if you don't port to someone else.

    • Sorry supert1ght, this one is for new customers only - cheers, ABB

      • How new do we need to be? I was with ABB 6 months ago and Im thinking about returning. Can I take up this offer?

        • Yes

      • +1

I heard that there was an exclusion period. After this period, your previous customers would be considered 'new' ones for promotion purposes. Is this still true?

  • +3

Been with AussieBB for over 6 months now! Been great! Can't fault them at all. Fast speeds, no slow peak hour, and great customer service.

  • +1

    Hi @aussiebroadband!
Saw your earlier comment where you can preorder up to 3 months in advance.
I'll be moving to a new place with FTTP/AussieBB available sometime in October, but at the minute, the date is not exactly set.
When pre-ordering, do you have to specify an exact date to commence service and if so am I able to change the date once I can confirm the date closer to October?

    Cheers!

    • +2

Hi kuyajs, our team do require an earliest connection date, I would recommend calling and speaking with them to confirm the best outcome for this one - cheers, ABB

  • +3

Great ISP, we're paying for 100/40 and getting a stable 95/35 on average. Even after 7pm the lowest it dropped was 88 mbits

    • How much are you paying?

  • +2

My ABB, 100MB, FTTN NBN absolutely rocks

It rarely dips under 90MB - even during peak evening hours

I also got the 1st month free

    Highly recommended

  • +1

Just be aware that their terms & conditions state that you need to provide 30 days notice to cancel the service. So if you were wanting to try the service for one month only, you technically need to give notice as soon as your service is active…

    "Cancellation of Service
Cancellation of your service must be provided 30 days prior to the required date by calling us on 1300 880 905."

    https://www.aussiebroadband.com.au/pdf/terms-nbn.pdf

    • I am not sure who will signup just for the 1 month free.

      • @superforever wrong forum ;)

all jokes aside yet to hear a bad word about ABB cant wait :)

    • Probably a smart move to stop people smashing the hell out of the largest 250/100 plan and then moving elsewhere (or back to where they came from) without a penny going to ABB.

  • What makes this deal better than TPG's Unlimited nbn50 for $69 including phone connection. Apart from no contracts which i think is good value, but for the next 12 months i don't think to change any way if the price is cheaper like TPG

    • +2

You get what you pay for. Cheap =/= good service.

    • I have never use TPG NBN but cheap ISP like MyRepublic is totally rubbish.

      Can't stream anything during peak.

    • It's better because TPG are rubbish

    • So $10/month cheaper = $120 saving
1 month free on ABB = $79 saving

So really just a $41 difference over 12 months to not be on a contract, and to not be with TPG

      • Also have to stuck with TPG and found out that you can't stream during peak.

        • Contract?

    • Best value at the moment for 50/20 is Mungi. They launched their L2 network, which is apparently better than their previous. $64.95

  • No love for existing customer?

  • Unrelated to this deal, but have anyone with ABB who referred new business to ABB gotten their 1 month free? I have referred but have not received the free month.

    • Yep I have

      • Did you have to follow them about it? Or you just filled in the referral form on their website?

        • Friend gave my details when calling up to order

    • referred new business to ABB gotten their 1 month free

I didn't know they have this.

  • Currently on a 50/20 plan with ABB. Very satisfied getting roughly 30-40mbs download. My upload speed seems rather weak though, 1-2mbs max. Could anyone explain why this is the case? (Im not tech savvy)

If this is of any help, using an optus modem/router as that was our previous isp. Probably 6-10 devices connected at a time. Thanks

    • I would give Aussie a call directly they can help you out

  • With FTTP residential plans is a static ip included?

    • Mine hasn't changed since I've been with them but if you want to guarantee it doesn't change you need to pay the extra $10.

    • Hi Sergeant Salami, with our residential the static IP is an extra $10 per month, the IP currently is "sticky" and won't change as often - cheers, ABB

  • hi @Aussiebroadband
looking to get on with FTTP i have called 2 times and emailed yet no one seems to beable to answer my Question,
will i need VDSL2 for FTTP ? Looking at the 150/100 plan

    • +1

Nope. Wifi Router is all you need.

      • yes i understand this but does the router need VDSL2 or just PPPoE or even IPoE connection. gonna signup anyways

        • Needs none of the above.

        • @Ethernia:
signed up gonna try the router i have at home if i need another router ill just get it then

        • +1

A router can't have VDSL2 or PPPoE. I think you are confusing a modem with a router (which can also be bought combined as 1 item).

With FTTP you don't provide your own modem, just the router. The modem is an NTD provided by NBNco.

    • +1

150/100? What NBN are you on?

      • FTTP in 2 months ill beable to go onto the 250/100 plan :D

  • Is this still available on no contract plans? I will have to move out soon but keen to try you out for a few months

    • Hi BargzPls we offer no contracts on any of our plans - cheers, ABB

  • Well, I'd like to switch but my current Telstra plan is cheaper than this, so how could I justify it?

    • What plan are you on?

      • 50Mbps, 1 TB, phone and national calls, $70.

        • Not offered anymore? I can see 79$ and no free calls.

        • +1

@wildweasel: Probably not offered now. Was originally part of a bundle with Foxtel Platinum, then became unbundled.

        • -1

@Wardaddy: You can also negotiate a price if you are an existing customer threatening to leave or go to the TIO. 😋

  • I just had over 18 hrs of complete downtime from ABB. No idea why. Just a txt saying to bad so sad we will advise.

  • Rep, is ABB still running the month free promo for long term customers that pay 6 months in advance?

    • Hi alwiese, this promo has since ended. We may look at new promos for these in the future - cheers, ABB

  • When I look up my address it says sept 2018 but have received an advertisement from TPG saying 15th October (do you think this was generic?) and does that entitle me to this deal?

    • Hi Sharks, you are entitled to this deal as we take pre orders up until 3 months prior to the service going live - cheers, ABB

  • How much does the AussieBB nbn modem cost if it's not included in these plans/deal?

    • $99 for the Netcomm NF10WV and $149 Netcomm NF18ACV

hmmm…is it worth BYO modem? are there any other decent modems to get for FTTC?

edit: did some more research… nbnco provides NCD device for FTTC connections… probably don't even need to buy a modem. I have a router already. Sweet!

  • I don't know how many times since the Telecube price increase I have looked up Aussie broadband and thought about jumping ship. My usage recently has been on the low side and I have seen it fluctuating between 400-700GB (this includes Uploads and downloads) and all the price hike funny business aside Telecube still looks wallet friendly on $86 100/40 1TB/Unlimited Upload plan + Static IP.

  • Rep- my phone line from the pit (which is at the front of my house) is literally just buried in dirt until it enters my house near the lounge room.
I want to fix that before going ahead with setting up the NBN.
Can I pay for this and get it installed in a couple of months?
Alternatively, if you don't think it matters that my phone line is a buried cable in dirt, I'll go ahead and arrange install asap!
I keep getting phone calls from iprimus telling me I must get NBN asap, so they've lied and pissed me off. Happy to go with you guys.

    • +1

Hi imnotarobot, this would be best handled by our sales team who can advise you the best way to go about this one. I can organise them to call you if you would like to PM me your contact number? Cheers, ABB

  • Can this be used for one month free unlimited internet followed by a slower more limited plan?

I actually wouldn't mind coming over to stay on 25/10, but will have one month of very heavy usage to download my steam library followed by stuff all usage every month after that.

If I can't, fair enough, but I just wouldn't swap over.

    • +1

You can… I did exactly that. Can choose whatever plan you want the next month after the free.

      • Thanks. Do they put you on the best plan automatically first month or do you have to swap by calling them after the first month or something?

        • It just stays on the same plan you signed up with. You need to change it yourself in their online portal.

  • This would be an awesome deal if NBN CAME TO MY FU@!?$ AREA

  • Hey rep, I'm due to get the nbn on 28 September, so I am pretty keen to sign up for this. Do I have to pay some sort of installation fee if it's the first nbn connection ever at my address? And what about if I move house, do I have to pay a fee for that? Thanks.

    • Hi moneymoo, there should not be any installation fee, there is a slight chance of a new development fee being passed on by nbn (this would best checked out by our sales team by calling 1300 880 905 - cheers, ABB
