    • Thanks mate.
      Post updated.

Now we're talking. This price needs to keep heading in this direction so I can one day replace my $450 V20.

  • +5

I'm still waiting for oreo for my V20 ….slipped from march to april to may to june, to july and they reckon August. I've lost faith in LGs ability to provide timely updates for either security or features

Next phone will be Android One …. probably Nokia 7 Plus.

    • I have literally just sold my v20 because of this.
Bought a cheap Nokia 3 as a temporary replacement. I'm updating it to 8 now with July security via OTA update.
My next will be android 1 as well, Nokia, just not sure which yet.

I've studied how I use my phone, I don't game on it so don't need super powerful specs.
I just want a phone which is updated on time and gives me a good few years of use. Definitely Nokia with android 1.

      • Why not just put a custom ROM on it?

        • +2

some people just like to buy a phone an use it, get OTA updates, no need to root phone, chase versions, etc etc.
I've reflashed Xiaomis and ZTEs etc but now just buy a phone, use app store, hit update button, and do other things in life with my time.

          ^ This.

Geez, your 4 year old phone had crappy battery life? What a shock. Small battery in the V30? If you’d bothered to do any research at all, you’d know the battery life of the V30 is one of the best of any current flagships (plenty of endurance tests on the internet and YouTube that confirm this).

        • +3

So you’re saying LG is in the pockets of every single tech Youtuber and website that’s conducted any type of endurance or battery test on the V30? Sure thing. If you get negged, it’s because you’re posting mindless dribble, not because the entire world is out to defend LG’s mobile division.

I've had my V30 for around 8 months now, and the battery is perfect. I took it travelling around Scandinavia with me as my primary for video and I'd easily get a full day out of it filming 4k (often in temperatures lower than -25").
Might need to re-think your position.

@aja12: Maybe you're the one posting mindless dribble.

        • @ToastySteve: even my v20 runs for 2 days ….but i don’t run crap in the background if i’m not actually using my phone.

This is a seriously great phone.

    Best phone I've ever owned.

    • Still not know if I should choose this or Oneplus 6 though as I'm concerned with LG's updates. It takes so long to get new version.

      • the only down side to my v20 has been updates …the hardware is great otherwise.

android one was supposed to lead to timely updates but not all manufactuers have embraced android one, otherwise they can only compete on hardware, not software features.

      • Apparently the V30 has had its bootloader unlocked and now has AOSP/LineageOS (not sure how stable). I'm so close to pulling the trigger on this but my OG pixel is still in perfect condition and runs great.

        • No, definitely not this one.

This one is the H930DS variant, which is also sold on Ebay from various Hong Kong sellers. It's the Asian market one.

Only the H930 (note: without the DS) has the bootloader unlock option available, but this is the European variant that isn't available here in Australia.

So its VERY unlikely you'll be able to install LineageOS on this particular phone.

@vicerum: that's what I thought, but this post and this comment in particular would suggest otherwise.

        • +1

Well… I'll eat my words. That's incredible! Thanks for proving me wrong.

Now with this good news, I need to urgently decide whether I want to part with my hard earned $700 or not and get this phone.

        • @vicerum: welcome to my dilemma ;)

      • I agree, have G6 and still no Oreo :(

It is now $799 at JB Hifi. I'm looking forward to these dropping further down to the $600 mark hopefully in the next year or so, when i'll pull the pin on it. Currently using an LG G6, great phone but LG is terrible at updates to Android. Something to keep in mind. Also, LG announced a "Software Upgrade Centre" in April but so far its been all talk and no updates. https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2018/4/12/17228306/l…
