•HDMI Ethernet Channel - Ads high-speed networking to a HDMI link, allowing users to take full advantage of their IP-enabled devices without a separate Ethernet cable.

•Audio Return Channel - Allows a HDMI-connected TV with a built-in tuner to send audio data “upstream” to a surround audio system, eliminating the need for a separate audio cable.

•3D Over HDMI - Defines input/output protocols for major 3D video formats, paving the way for true 3D gaming and 3D home theatre applications.

•4K Video Support - Enables video resolutions far beyond 1080p, supporting next-generation displays that will rival the Digital Cinema systems used in many commercial movie theatres.

•Additional Colour Spaces - adds support for three additional colour spaces enabling better and more accurate
colour to users when they view their digital photos on an HDTV. In addition to RGB color and x.v.Colour, the HDMI standard now offers native support for three additional color spaces, sYCC601 colour, Adobe RGB colour and Adobe YCC601 colour

Jamell has 30 day money back returns policy, that ebay seller only has 7 days (both excluding postage costs).

Worth paying the 5 cents extra.

but that's shipped from Hong Kong. It will take 2 weeks at least.

    • edit: you addressed the quantity issue in your next post

  • They usually take about 6-8 days as I order heaps from these guys. I dont use DX anymore due to way too long shipping.
And sorry its actually $4.38 if only buying one.

Is JamellCables quality better than JJBYPC?
Got some v1.3b @ JJBYPC last year from this link http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/24105
What are the benefit of 1.4 vs 1.3b? Is it worth upgrade?

    • If I'm not mistaken, these Jamell ones are Copper plated and sealed and those are Gold.
v1.4 is the same as v1.3b but with the inclusion of Ethernet. Not sure how it works though.
I have a gold plated and sealed v1.1 HDMI cable which cost me an arm and a leg several years ago and I can't tell the difference between that cable and Jamell cables. It might really only come into effect if the cable is really long (>5M?).

    • They're Jamell like a camel.

I only buy from ebay when there a no cheap altentives in oz.

    • +1 Great to support the local if the price is close and quality is good. I have bought from Jamell many times now and highly recommend them.

      • maybe.. i had a problem with one of my cables.. and they sent me a replacement within 2 days.
guess what, the cable was purchased over a year ago!

  • Nice price. Bought one.

  • Picked up 2 also.
    gold, $5, v1.4, local.
    :)

  • is 1.4 worth upgrading to for ps3?

  • HDMI cable versions are a good indication of where the technology in consumer electronic devices are moving towards in the near future. Supports ethernet and 3D content and post-HD resolutions…nice :)

    • although DisplayPort is better than either HDMI or DVI

  • has anyone noticed a difference in picture quality between 30awg cable and 24 or 26awg?

    • You are not going to.

  • dammit, i just bought from another ebay store. oh well what's 50c difference amongst working men?

  • +1

    For all those asking:

    PICTURE QUALITY:
There is no difference in picture quality between HDMI cables over these distances.
The labelling '1080P' is deceptive - you won't find a HDMI cable that isn't.

    VERSION:
The difference between v1.3 and v1.4 is that 1.4 adds:
    Ethernet
    Return Audio channel
    3D ability
If your TV doesn't have these features then you don't need the cable to do it either.

Laws were recently changed to ban company's advertising the HDMI standards version number (e.g., v1.3 or v1.4) to protect consumers from deceptive advertising.
The latest cables should now be labelled: 'high speed with ethernet'.

Notwithstanding the misleading advertising they are still a good deal on good cables.

    • thanks for the rundown mate, very interesting.

although how is it 'misleading' to advertise the version number? there is obviously a difference between the two, and as a consumer I think knowing which is 'better' is important.

still, very interesting to read exactly what one does above the other, thanks.

      • The differences in version numbers are covered with different descriptions.
There's 'high speed' which is v1.3
There's 'high speed with ethernet' which is v1.4

The HDMI version is more to do with the electronic device and what sort of signal it is sending, not the cable it's being sent through.

  • says $7.95 not $5? Has the deal expired?
edit: just noticed that it has. ll be quick next time

    • Deal has expired, was only for 2 days.

  • Great cable, it fixed an intermittent squealing audio problem I had with my new setup. I wasn't sure if it was the cable, the WDTV, the TV, or the 90° elbow - I suspected the cable, and this fixed it. Many thanks Jamell.
