now that's a bargain pity it's sold out in my area, damn.

Bargain?. It's probably rubbish to begin with. Only comes with a Li-Cad battery. This would be nothing in comparison to a Li-ion cordless drill.

      • +1

Price is also nothing in comparison. Won't even get a single high drain 18650 cell for $5, let alone the 5 required for an 18V battery pack or the drill itself.

  • Isn't a Ni-Cad battery on a cordless drill like terrible compared to a Li-ion?.

  • 5 bux!! It's worth that just to pillage the batteries

    • +4

Why would you want Ni-Cad batteries?

      • Yeah meaning that this cordless drill will be rubbish. Ni-Cad suffers from memory effect so it loses power charge over time even when not used. You really want a Li-ion cordless drill if you don't want it to be rubbish.

If you really got the time you can retrofit nicad drills with li-ion batteries. Just probably doesn't worth the hassle.
Second thought: it might be a good project to do with age appropriate kids. Reasonably cheap and they get their own drill. (if they don't already own one) Just grab a clearance battery pack from Aldi or Bunnings.

    • Just note that it's a Li-Cad battery which means a rubbish battery.

Did anyone actually manage to buy this?

SCA seems to have a lot of stuff on their website that is in fact sold out.

Cheep marketing trick with 3 or 4 stock leftover…

      • Oh I get it. Cheep.

        • yes, very SHORT term

  • Where can I price match / beat using this?

  • +1

I have had one long ago. Thrown years ago. Only useful as screw driver. No power for drilling and NiCad batteries don't hold charge. Don't waste money on crap tools, only to damage the materials you work on, which negates your savings.

If there never was any stock, was it actually a bargain?
