20% off 24 Month Optus Phone Plans @ Harvey Norman / Domayne / Joyce Mayne

1250

It seems like only at Harvey Norman stores?

Need a new phone yesterday, went to one of the stores yesterday, surprisingly I received further 20% off the discounted $105 promo plan (originally $125)
So instead off $125, I am now paying $84 for the plan.

Only available for Port-in customers from another service provider, so I bought a Telstra sim to do so.

The deal I got was

IphoneX 256GB on $105 plan (20% off =$84) plus $10 repayment for the phone = $94 monthly
Min.Total cost over 24 months is $2256
Given that the phone is worth ~$1600 outright, the difference is only $656. so its only $27.33 per month for 24 months

and I get all of these…..

100GB of data
Unlimited standard national calls and data
Unlimited International calls and text
4GB of Roaming Data

Amazing deals!! Better get yours today!

        • @farque: list of the countries included in international calls??

      • Called in Canberra HN and Domayne, both were only offering the 20% off to non-promo plans (making it a basically useless offer) - appears to be up to the store manager to how they want to honour the offer. Was after the S9+ ($79+ plan) - no go.

        • I went to Domayne Canberra after HN refused to do the Iphone X $105 deal ($84).
Domayne were happy to do it after confirming with the Optus chat team. So I got a 64Gb IphoneX for $84/month. Only catch is they had no stock. Phone has been shipped to me directly from Optus (hopefully arriving today)

  • Signed up at Harvey Norman Coburg, Manager is very supportive, IPhone X 256 GB for $94pm for 24months, Good job OP. Cheers

    • Manager at Coburg Victoria said that deal has been extended to 18th Aug, if people needs time to port out & port in.
He is happy to give 20% OFF on any discounted price as well. No exclusions here..Enjoy

    • No Bonus HN Gift Card or Bonuses like last time ?

  • So is it confirmed that it is only for the iphone x and no other phones?

    • All phones available on this offer. All the way down to Samsung A5 on the $45 ($36 after disc)

  • Called the store and they said Virgin customers are not eligible! I still have a month contract with Virgin. Does anyone know how I can get this deal? I want to keep my old number though.

    • I would think it’s possible to do it via a Telstra/Vodafone $2 SIM

      buy $2 SIM from supermarket
activate SIM, selecting to port number from Virgin
wait 30 mins - 4 hours for port to complete
go into Harvey Norman, sign up as a port from Telstra/vodafone

Doing it this way would trigger a one month payout fee at Virgin but it’s worth it to get the savings.

      • Thanks Strahany for the tip. I thought Optus would support old virgin customer but they don't. No special deal.

      • Does this really work? If so, I want to port out and port back to Optus to sign up this deal.

      • I tried to this about 2 months ago.
But didn't go thru, as to activate the $2 sim(voda), it required me to pick a plan cheapest being like $8.

  • +2

Did anyone got it for s9 plus?

  • Hi OP

You mention about "Only available for Port-in customers from another service provider, so I bought a Telstra sim to do so."

What was your steps? How many days did you wait from Optus to Telstra and Telstra back to Optus?

  • OK all let me share my experience today. I ported out from Optus to Vodafone prepaid SIM. First warning, the Sim cost $2, but you have to do a recharge on it before it can be activated, the cheapest recharge I found was $8. I'm not sure if this is the same case with Telstra. The Vodafone port was completed in 15 minutes or less!

I went to Auburn HN and didn't have a problem with signing up, but there was a problem trying re-port back to Optus from Vodafone. Apparently because I already had made a port in the morning it was giving an error message on Optus side saying that there was still an outstanding port. The Optus person said they had to wait at least 48 hours or so before everything clears in the system before they can re-port back in.

So I will have to wait until Monday or Tuesday before I can finalise the port and to make sure I've been correctly set-up on the plan.

Whilst I was at Auburn, there was heaps of people doing the same thing, I'm not sure whether Optus will pick up on all of this and put a stop to it. In particular my situation of porting out of the Optus to another carrier and then immediately back to Optus.

Anyways hopefully this info helps others planning on doing the same.

    • Thanks for replying. Did HN give you the phone even you are not fully sign up?

      • Nope. They put it on hold for me. The paper work was all done with the receipt number and signed etc. the only part completed was the actual porting. I assume everything was approved but just the porting was the problem. Hopefully when I go back it all works out ok

    • Which phone and plan are you planning to take? I tried at auburn store for iphonex 105 discounted plan they said no

      • Yep iPhone X 256 as per listed by the OP. I have a feeling the staff at Auburn might have had enough. It was getting very busy and taking up a lot of their time doing the sign up process

    • Thanks for sharing. I don't think I'll bother given how much the deal seems to vary from store to store, but hopefully Optus starts realising they should be rewarding loyal customers. If people are willing to port in and out for this deal imagine the people jumping ship for a good competitor deal.

Chances of this working on the new Samsung Note $105 plan preorder…? Any luck in south east Vic so far? Cranbourne/Dandenong/Fountain Gate

    • +1

Note 9 Pre Orders can be done with this offer

      • +1

Absolutely any handset on these plans. Don't port out and port in as it is being monitored and you may get turned away.

      • +2

        $132 - $20 for the same plan as OP's for the Note 9 512gb

        So after 20% = $84 + $7 for the handset

        • Currently with Telstra so not a problem…. Decision making time!!
          Thanks for that!

  • Anyone know if virgin counts as porting in?

    • Excludes Virgin customers - Wont change

      • but if I port out from virgin to Telstra, would that work? are you monitoring virgin port out customers as well?

      • but if I port out from virgin to Telstra, would that work? are you monitoring virgin port out customers as well?

        • Once you are with Telstra, then you will be porting in from Telstra, not Virgin. However you'd need to be away from Virgin for a little while. Some suggest 30 days, others say Optus/Virgin Mobile numbers may never be eligible…

        • @quarrymaster: yeah but farque has said they (Optus) are monitoring optus customers for short time port outs to get this deal, I was wondering whether they do that for virgin as well

  • Can I buy a Telstra Prepaid sim, get the new plan then port my Optus number after the plan is all activated?

    • Cant overlay numbers once activated

  • so we can't port out from optus to telstra and sign up for this note9 deal next weekend?

    • Don't port out and port in as it is being monitored and you may get turned away and left with a prepaid service lol

      • I guess Optus will still accept because customers are going to sign 2 years contract. Why Optus say no?

  • Wondering if I already with optus Ipad plan can I use this deal to sign up under another accounting under my name to share data between the two devices?

Hello guys. Just want to share there even better deal with this offer.

I went to Hobart HN today, the staff told me I can sign new contact from port Telstra number to Optus, and it will take 20% off on currently regional offer $145plan down to $105 and include iPhone X 256GB with no extra cost.

So in the end, I got a $84/month plan with iPhone X 256GB, and 200GB DATA, international roaming 6GB data plus $100 worth of phone accessories choose from HN store.

    • wow that is really good

    • how can a capital city be considered regional?

    • +1

      What about student discount?

      • the phone wasn't in stock, so have to do a back order, so can't do student discount for now, maybe after I received the phone.

        • update:

student discount was added to my account, so no problem via online chat

        • @GAMBOL: I tried to do via chat they said had to be done at sign up.

    • I got that deal, but not the $100 of phone accessories. How did you manage that?

Thought I did well getting the deal for $84.

      • That $100 phone accessories promote has a post in Hobart store for any Optus sign up.

        • Well played Sir, well played

    • just bought the same regional offer

$145 plan down to $105 ( including iphone x 256GB with no extra phone cost) plus 20% discount from harvey norman, its comes $84

and called optus on 133937 to get student discount 10% on $105 and it comes $73.50 per month with 200GB :)

Sadly no phone accessories/gift card :(

      • I also wanna get this deal. Are you in regional area? IF not, does your HN (which store?) simply accept another address from regional area such as from a friend? How does it work?

How long does it take for your number to port-in to Optus? A day or two after signup?

        • +2

I changed my bank address details to my sister home address ( she livin in regional area ) and print out bank statement with regional address and changed it again.

        • Within 2 hours.

        • @Gunshoo: hi mate, could you tell me whether you only needed to produce the bank statement? did you have to show your drivers license?

        • @Gunshoo: hi mate, could you tell me whether you only needed to produce the bank statement? did you have to show your drivers license?

        • @enzioFirenze: bank statement and passport.

      • Went to a HN store in Melbourne but the manager refuses to do regional plan. He said his "metro" store can only do "metro" plan. In other words, in order to get regional plan, I need to go to a "regional" store and the closest one is Ballarat…

Did you actually go to a "metro" or "regional" store?

        • whole TAS stated as regional, so any Tas store can do it.
Your billing address must be in the selected postcode area to do it.
Maybe give Ballarat store a call to find out.

    • Did they gave you HN gift card?

    • Did they gave you HN gift card?

Spoken to HN fountain gate. One of the staff suggests porting out and back in to optus within days may not work.

Anyone pleas suggest how long I/we need to wait?

    • Are fountain gate doing the 20% off too though?

  • According to one HN staff, if you had an account/number previously with Optus/Virgin and still using the same number with another carrier, you may not be eligible to the 20% discount (HN) if you decided to port in back to optus.
You could still get the $20-off optus plan but not with the HN discount.

    When does this deal expire?

    • 20 August

      • Can I politely ask how you know this deal ends on the 20th as someone commenting above here on this page said it ends on the 18th. ???

        • Its been extended to 26th now

        • @farque:

Thanks so much. Great news as trying to organise a deal for my elderly mum in Queensland over the phone.

  • Has anyone done the deal with the new Note 9 512gb? How was it? Straightforward?

And the total monthly is $91?

Hooefully someone has done it in Melbourne, saves me time explaining to the store rep the details.

  • Just done a deal for Note 9 512MB today (Harvery Norman Castle Hill), no problem at all, easy and no hassle. Thanks OP!

  • In order to port from Telstra to Optus - do the account names (lessee) need to match? Or can you port a number with just the mobile number, account holder date of birth and account number

    • i've confirmed with Optus the account names have to match!

  • I’d go for it if I could work out how to sell the iPhone X for $1,500…

  • +1

Say I already have an Optus number (#1) and also a Vodafone number (#2). If I transfer #2 over to Optus for this promo, will I still get the discount, even though I already have #1?

    • Why wouldn't it? #2 is a "new" port-in customer.

    • Yeo will work and you can share the data between the accounts

  • So just looking on Optus website:

iPhone 8 Plus Silver 256GB (including device credit) $0
My Plan Plus 200GB DATA $145

So through HM should be $116 month?

  • Can confirm I did this today for an iPhoneX 256Gb for the boss & a Note 9 512Gb preorder (pre order is a free 128 - 512Gb upgrade) for myself, will hit up the edu discount tomorrow and see how that goes as well :)

    • Please keep us updated if you can add that student discount on top too.. i talked to an optus rep and said you can apply it in store too or after via chat.

  • +1

Anyone who signed up already on this offer , do they get any confirmation that it is only $84 per month for iPhone X 64 gb?

Or should we wait for bill as Optus Christmas offer there were lot of issues in customer charged with full plan price ?

    • +2

Yeah, I just got my bill (signed up this weekend) and it's $84/m

The contract still say its $105/m plan, but there's a 20% discount for 24 months "item" added to the bill. Bringing the total to $84

      • Awesome! Thanks for the confirmation

      • Thank you

      • Hi do you get a GST invoice for the iPhone when signed up for this deal?

  • Just to add, I've signed up over the weekend to this deal (ported from Telstra)
The $105 plan ($125 - $20 discount) plan is definitely available with the 20% discount. At first the guy I was dealing with wasn't sure since it was already a discounted plan. But after checking their email (I assume it's the corporate email from Optus to Harvey Normal re: the deal), the $105 plan was listed as one of eligible. They had a table of all the eligible plans for the deal and the discount for month, and the $105 plan was specifically listed there.
Went through and got the iPhone X 64GB for $84/m

  • got this deal yesterday, the Harvey Norman guy asked me about a data share sim for a once off $5 payment, I said yes and he gave me another sim cad for the data, said it should be active in a couple days.

I thought this ended a while ago? can anyone confirm is the card will just activate and I can share data?

    • That would be cool! I think the cheapest for me now would be the $20 per month data SIM for 3GB which should be $10 off with bundled discount. I’ll definitely ask about it.

      • Yeah, that's what I ordered today on a 12 month contract. Nearly had a stroke when I saw it might be possible to get one for a $5 one off payment. :D

    • +1

Good luck with it. Hope it goes through.

I just spoke with their support via chat and it has now ended.

Also looking on their website, it seems people were moved off of this plan onto monthly charge plans on December 1 2016. https://www.optus.com.au/shop/support/answer?requestType=Nor…

      Fingers crossed.

    • +1

Spoke to Optus today via chat. They activated the data share sim for me with no cost this evening. I asked about whether it will cost me $5 single payment and they said there was no charge at all. Might have got Lucky. But worth a try for anyone who wants to share their data

      • Does this data share SIM look different? Did it come as a bare SIM card or in some sort of pack?

        • +1

it was just a standard blank sim, it was activated and issued with a mobile number, and on my Optus account just shows as a "shared data plan"

        • @Dieseldavil: Maybe I should just ask for a blank SIM and see how that goes…

        • @quarrymaster: couldn't hurt, might be worth going back to Harvey norman and seeing the rep and asking for a sim for data

        • @Dieseldavil: That dude was rather clueless. I’m cooling on this deal anyway.

  • +2

I have signed up at Harvey Norman Macgregor QLD (555 Kessels Road) with the iPhone X 256GB ($94=$84 for plan +$10 for device,- $105 plan) and iPhone 8 Plus 64GB($67.2=$47.2 for plan + $20 for device, $59 plan). all staff are very kind and solved the activate issue very fastly : )

    • Is this in Garden City Westfield?
