[MELB] $20 off UberEATS (No Minimum Spend)

662
MELPOOL20dekv5s

Hi all,

There's a code floating around which was intended to be for $20 off your first UberPool trip however it seems to be working in UberEats.
Can confirm it works as I have just ordered food with it.

$5 delivery fee still applies.

Get on it quick before they fix it!

Seems to only work in Melb, it applied for me but doesn't work at checkout :(

    • +1 on this (Brisbane), applied but didn't have any effect

  • +2

Just ordered some Krispy Kreme doughnuts for when I get home from work! Thanks OP!

  • Seems to only work in Melbourne. Tried to order in Sydney and would not work.

  • This is what comes up after I enter the code - I'm a little skeptical that it will work:

Enjoy $20 off your first UberPool ride! UberPool is Australia's most affordable Uber ride. Share the ride. Share the savings. (New UberPool users only. Available in Melbourne only. Expires 01/09/2018.)

    • It works! Order quickly.
I just got my ordered delivered to the door for $1 haha!

      • -5

nope, jammed an order as quick as I applied the code and does not discount on the food order

  • FHECKKK YESSSSS

  • +1

    Milpooollllllllllll!!!!!!

    • +2

Anyone negging this is a bum

    • +4

      Not sure why you negged
Apply the code on UberEats and you get $20 off.. works fine?

      • -8

Not for me it didn't. Applied the code in UberEats and I get $20 off my first UberPool ride. Made an order through UberEats, no $20 discount applied to order. UberPool credit not UberEats

        • +3

          You must be new here

        • Use it to go pick your food up. Hahahahaha

  • +1

Awesome - I ordered it for 5pm though, so hopefully they don't cancel anything before then!

  • +1

Worked for me in Melb. Cheers OP!

  • +2

Thanks! Worked. I ordered a curry it is on the way.

Edit - Just opened my Uber app and I have a $20 for any form of Uber (Uber x/xl/black etc)

  • Anyone outside of Melbourne having luck?

    • outside of melbourne …..how far is it socially acceptable to make someone on a student or temp work visa cycle ?

  • +2

just tried SYDPOOL20dekv5s and no luck..

  • Although code shoes to discount the amount. but it does need a card which have balance = ordered amount (before discount) - can you check if you supplied card was not debited?

  • +1

Outside Melbourne and it didn't apply to order. In Melbourne on Wednesday so scheduled an order for then, worked fine. Whether I actually get the food on Wednesday is another story.

    • respect the attempt.

    • Just an update in case anyone cares, got my food, got charged, got refunded.

  • Nice! Thanks OP, pre-ordered dinner :D

  • I cop a “Promotion code not available for this account and all trips will be charged at full price” when I tried to add it here in Perth. Though that seems more like they’ve removed the ability for me to use any codes not just specifically this one which is odd because I’ve rarely used codes in the past!

Either way a nice little coupon for those that can use it ^_^

  • I think I was supposed to use the coupon at checkout, I added it to my account and it doesn't work that way.

    • I added to my ubereats account in the promo tab and the discount automatically applied at checkout

      • +1

It doesn't show up as checkout for me :( and if I try to add the coupon at checkout it says I have already used it.

  • Thanks OP, just got some cheap maccas sheduled for this evening for $1.55 inc delivery! Not bad at all 👌👌👌

  • +7

I'd suggest not doing this. Last time we used a code we weren't supposed to, Uber Illegally charged us later:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/300558

It took most of us several days, some of us weeks, to get our refunds / chargebacks through.

    • +1

but you got your money back, yeah?

      • +1

I did, but it was a lot of work, and some people didn't.

        • +2

hrmmm.. ill take the risk and try for the refund..

          #ozbarGAINlife

  • +2

Make sure to screenshot your checkout total showing the discount. Similar thing happened last year and everyone ended up getting charged (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/300558).

  • +2

Hmmm, says I've already used this product

    • Same
It applied but then I changed the cc and the price reverted, now any further attempts say it's already been used

  • looks like it's been patched

  • Not working for me. I’m Melbourne .

  • Yeah seems like they fixed it

  • +3

Eating a Schnitz burger as I type. Thanks op!

    Edit got charged full price

  • Probably got patched

  • Yep just got charged full price after it got delivered :/

Did take a screenshot of the original receipt, so let's see what their support says. Good chance I'll need to do a chargeback considering what happened last time

  • Oh man….had a $20 whole chicken lined up from Oporto but hadn't used Uber Eats for a while - needed to update card details, did so, went back and can no longer use the code because "You've already used this product".
    :(

  • Everytime I've used a discount code my orders been late and cold. Spending $20 ($40 with promo code) for sub-par food is a risk due to their shite customer service

    • yet get what you pay for …..

  • +4

They re-issued my receipt and charged me full price already.

    • Call 1800 839 152 and ask for a refund

      • What do you say?

        • +3

"I'd like to request a refund as an unauthorized charge was made to my card"

        • They asked to go via app and click on "Get help" link next to your order.

        • @Jimmy007:

So did they allow a refund?

        • +20

          Here's is what you do.

          1. You politely ask for a refund by saying "Hi there, there must be some glitch in the system. I entered a promo code in my Ubereats order earlier today but I was still charged for the full amount, can you please organise a refund for me"

          2. They will do a check on your order and will declined the refund by saying something like. "The code you entered was intended for a certain recipient and your account wasn't eligible for that promo code and that is why you were charged full price."

          3. You reply "Well, it's your system that's at fault because the promo code did get accepted at the time I place the order and the order did indeed go through. If the promo code was invalid, the system shouldn't have allowed the order proceed. It's totally unacceptable to charge my credit card full price AFTER my order have been delivered and without my authorization. Can you please resolved this immediately otherise I will escalate this issue further"

You should get your refund straight away. Being polite and professional is the key :)

        • +3

@Homr: I'm very sorry to hear this. It must be so frustrating for you. Unfortunately, we are unable to process a refund as you should not have been using that code.

        • +1

@idonotknowwhy: That's basically what they told me when I called and asked me to click on the 'get help' option if I want any further assistance -_-

        • -1

@stuhtb: Yeah, I remember the calls I made 18 months ago when it happened to me lol.

They also feel very sorry and empathetic when I call up for little first world problems with my food or mild delays.

        • @idonotknowwhy:
"Once again, if the code was invalid then why did the system accepted it and displayed $X when I confirmed my order? Can I please have your name again, I will be escalating this issue to head office"

This is the point where start organizing your credit card chargebacks and paypal disputes.

        • +1

          @Homr:
I got charged the full amount - They said exactly what you wrote and I followed your steps. Got my refund!! Yayerr

        • @melehoohaha: Good to hear!

        • @idonotknowwhy: it’s called karma …..they flaw you tried to exploit has come back 2 fold ….now you pay for meal you would not have ordered full price …..

        • @garage sale: What do you mean? I didn't try this time around. And 16 months ago, I got my refund (free meal).

      • I'm awaiting a response to the "get help" link currently.

  • +2

Here's the number to call if you guys got charged full price

    1800 839 152

  • Yep so it's happened once again. On ya UberEATS.

    • +1

      dons tinfoil

maybe Uber actually create this "loophole" so they can pull this crap off…

      • the IT devops guys do it for fun, payback for the suffering of their fellow countrymen delivering the stuff.

  • +11

What a crap Uber is, charging customer because they made a stupid error? If you can’t honour its better leave the market.

    • Agreed. They are only a billion dollar business.

  • +1

i paid via paypal, and seems i got charged nothing at all - even though uber sent me a receipt for full price. not sure whats going on

    • Me too, nothing yet… odd

    • wtf how do you pay with paypal they force me to use credit card?

      • +3

I needed to figure this out too. In my experience PayPal chargebacks are a lot easier.

You can add PayPal on the uber (not eats) app, and then you can use it in the ubereats app.

        • thanks is there a way to remove credit card?

        • @shadowrukia: there must be as my account has no credit card linked to it. cant remember how i did it though

  • Interesting I actually added this promo code to my Uber account a little while back and have just noticed it’s also been applied to my UberEats account.

  • They changed my receipt in the app afterwards- but I had no money on my debit card at the time so no money taken. Although I'm now hesitant to put money back in that account in case they charge later

  • +1

Time to ban Uber/Ubereats from Ozbargain

      • The plural of sheep is sheep.

The English language is an ass.

  • +2

Applied on checkout for me, but still charged me the full amount (without the discount) afterwards..

  • +2

Uber: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on you again..

  • +1

    Anyone successfully get a refund:?

Edit: just got mine refunded via app.

    • Just got refunded on the app too :)

  • +1

I've still not been charged on PayPal - any idea why?

Kinda regret sending a refund message to the contact email before even checking I got charged LOL

  • +2

    Got refunded as well via the app;

It appears there was a technical issue with this promo code. The promo code is only applicable for your first Uber Pool ride within Australia. However, as a one-time courtesy, I've gone ahead and issued you a refund of $20 for this order. This should reflect in your account within 1-3 business days.

  • +1

Can confirm refunded through the app within 20 minutes. Easy.

    • Did you have to call them? How do you ask refund through app?

      • I'd appreciate steps too in case I have to go that route

        • +1

Just click on the “Get Help” button under your past order, and follow through with the payment/promo code option. I said “I applied the promo code and it said my order was $XX dollars but then it removed after I received my order”. They just send a message back through app saying it’s been processed as a refund for you.

        • @jepiterr: Thanks to your tips, I got a refund. Email had the same drivel about one time courtesy.

      • No need to call at all. See my comment above

  • +2

It's unfortunate customers have to experience the same deceipt that drivers for (F)Uber have to endure.

  • +1

I was charged full amount even after the code was applied successfully. I sent a support message from app and have got a response that they would refund the money and it would reflect in my account in 3 days.

    • +1

Good to read, I have screenshots of mine and was charged full amount too, time to get my refund.
