Pretty good prices. The historical lows I think were from the 25% deal back in EOFY.

    $78.75, $116.25, $231.75, $513.75
    versus now
    $79.92, $119.20, $255.00, $543.20

    • Interesting to know, pretty close on the first 2.

    • Shopping express also have some deals on the Samsung 860, may be a better option.

      Woahhh I see what's going on here…

      Consider $255.00

      2+5+5+0+0=12

      1+2=3.

      Half Life 3 Confirmed.

Waiting for 2TB to drop below $500

    • +1

Could be pretty soon with Samsung QLC drives on the way.

      • +2

Crucial has beaten Samsung to market with QLC, Micron which is the OEM version of crucial, is shipping to manufacturers, will be a while until they sell the retail / consumer version under the crucial brand.

QLC (quad-level cell) flash stores four bits per cell, one more than today's TLC chips that use three bits per cell.

The capacities of this 2.5-inch product are 1.92TB, 3.84TB and 7.68TB. The hardware has the usual 6Gbit/s SATA interface, and is aimed at the fast-access nearline data market that is served by 3.5-inch nearline disk drives.

Micron claims this latest flash slab has a lower power draw and lower total cost of ownership (TCO) than other nearline disks in the highly read-intensive part of the data storage market. The 5210's performance, when compared to a TLC 5200 ECO, looks like this:

Sequential reads are about the same: 500 to 540MB/sec
Sequential writes are 66 per cent: 300 to 340MB/sec
Random reads are about 80 per cent: up to 75,000 IOPS
Random writes are about 33 per cent on small blocks: up to 10,000 IOPS

        • Speed is horrible, it will have to be damn cheap.

Luckily it is eBay plus only, otherwise, I would have pulled the trigger.

looks like I am doing an SSD RAID in my HP microserver after all

  • Oh F. Just bought the 500gb for $127 in the previous deal

    • +2

      Let it out lol

      • Same! I found this deal through buyers regret…

        • Same. It’s hard I know…

  • nice.

  • I don't know much about pc parts. Should I get the Crucial MX500 or Samsung 860 EVO (250GB)? I was recommended to get the Samsung 860 EVO SSD to add to my pc (for no particular reason). I'm just gonna put windows 10 and games on the SSD, so windows will boot up faster and for less load times in games. The MX500 is a little cheaper so that's nice. Thoughts?

    • +2

Depends, how fast do you want to load windows and watch prawn?

      • I'm actually very patient, I've used the slowest computers without getting upset. I don't particularly want a SSD, but now that it's on sale I might as well upgrade my pc. Advantages/disadvantages between the two?

    • +2

I believe the 860 is slightly faster, but I'd say to go for the 500gb mx500 as you will need the extra storage.

      • I don't play that much games. Couldn't I just add/remove games from the SSD once I finish one to clear up space? Any reason why would I need the extra storage?

        • +2

If you dont play many games 250 should be fine, just keep in mind it's common for games to be like 60gb these days.

        • +1

@Veno: Decided to play it safe and get the MX500 500gb. I was originally planning to buy the samsung 860 evo 250gb for $115 a couple of months ago so might as well. Thanks

    • +1

They are about equal in term of speed, which is already at the maxed of what SATA III can do. The EVO is a little bit more durable (on official papers, because SSD Write Endurance are wildly higher than what manufacturers guaranteed). Usually I go with Samsung because I like them all to be Samsung.

Actually I pulled the trigger on 1TB EVO 860 because this is historically low price. Already run out of space with 1TB and 500GB EVO 850 from 3 years ago.

    • +3

Ive got both - one in my laptop and one in my all in one desktop. No noticable difference in real world

  • Any m.2 SATA?

  • +1

That's a mighty fine price for the 500gb. Damn it.

  • +1

500GB is out of stock I believe

  • 1TB starting to be affordable, less than 1TB and then you need a hard drive

  • +2

For those buying 860 evo without eBay plus, this is slightly cheaper compared to this without eBay plus, with code PINGED. Expires today.

  • 500GB is currently out of stock, I just got one WD instead..

    • Sorry about that, as you posted I found a new link for the 500gb, though its a bit more expensive.

      • yeah, I found that too, after comparing with WD blue and Crucial, WD seems has quicker reading speed which more suitable for me.

        • +1

All modern SATA SSDs should have roughly the same speed, the only differance is how long they last I believe.

        • @Veno:
Thanks buddy,I really don't have much idea about it.

        • @Veno: not really. huge difference on 4k write / read as well as access time.

        • @user01: Not really sure what is meant by 4k read/ write. Playing games at 4k I dont notice a differance in load times between my 2 different drives (Samsung 850 500gb and MX500 1tb)

        • @Veno: single sector writes; eg. lots of small files.

    • Does WD has the data migration software come for free?
