10-24 hour layover times in Singapore when flying from Perth to Tokyo via Qantas. What's the deal with that?

    • Lack of connection options I guess?

      • +1

Can't take Qantas seriously then when there are far better connection options from Singapore Airlines and Cathay when flying from Perth

  • The coupon doesn't appear to work for me. I have selected a Qantas flight from MEL to TKO.
Says it does apply for my current booking.

    QF79 Airbus A330
    QF80 Airbus A330

    • Please try again - we ran out of coupons and generated additional availability just now!

  • Yeah I'm sad!! Slightly different dates but could have saved $150-200 all up for two return from Adelaide (don't know exactly as I used points+pay and only spent $800).

    • +2

don't know exactly as I used points+pay and only spent $800

Aw using Points + Pay is not ideal…

      • Didn't have enough points for classic flight rewards. It was still using free points but I've only just started credit card churning.

  • Looking to go November this year ☹️

  • +1

So cheaper now to fly to Japan and buy top end Nikon Camera when you get there .. than mess around with haggling here + TRS

    • pretty sure you could claim tax off in japan as well

  • Heading to Japan next month. $1150 for 2 adults+2 kids return with jetstar - OOL <>NAR

    • Wow… $1150 for four of you ?
Been trying to get ticket for Jan 2019 (eg 8/1/2019 to 23/1/2019, approx date, Melbourne to Tokyo) , Jetstar cost us nearly $5k all up for 4 adults, qantas cost ways more!!!!

Prime travel season being summer holidays here. You're not going to find cheap sales. If you want to fly cheap with kids, best time to do it is to give them time off school and go during the school term.

While I don't actively encourage it, I am a strong proponent of kids travelling and if it means doing so during school term, so be it. They will learn and experience far more in a week's worth of travelling than they will in school.

        • +1

kids are only missing 3 days of school.
          planned it right this time.
last holidays (april) I somehow stuffed up the dates so the kids missed 2 weeks of school, had 2 days back and then holidays

the kids are learning Japanese at school so this is an educational trip.

        • +1

@altomic: Make a video of them trying to use it in a setting and send it to their teachers. Be it reading menus or talking to locals. When my kids travel during the school term, we always make sure they present something to their class for show and tell to demonstrate what they learned while over.

        • @Cyphar: I'm shocking with taking my kids out of school for travel. 2 weeks in April to the US. Last year - 10 days in india, 2 weeks in Vietnam.Cambodia, 12 days in Japan, 7 days in Beijing. primary school though. so why not?

        • @altomic: Nothing wrong with that at all. IMO those experiences are better than the school missed. Different story in the latter high school years but when young, go for it. I was talking to a family in Singapore a few weeks ago that was spending a month in different countries around the world over 18 months (Their dad is some kind of medical celebrity and is touring a tour and talks in universties), enrolling their kids in to school in each country. I thought that was unreal.

@TheMatrix We booked tickets for roughly those dates a month or two ago through gateone (via one of the aggregators) for JAL for around $950 a ticket. Held out for a while but didn't seem like it would get any cheaper.

Promo code not working for Melbourne to Tokyo 14th May - 27th May. Rep?

  • Is May - June a good time to visit Japan?

    • Hot and potentially very humid in June.

    • Quick google search says it'll probably be rainy

    • +2

We did May this year. Weather was beautiful, had 1 day of rain. It was a little humid.

    • Just went over to Osaka and Tokyo in mid June.

It is the rainy season so it is wet and cloudy for most of the time. Weather is cooler than I expected around 15-20 degrees but it gets noticeably hotter when the sun is out.

I'd say it's quite good as there are no public holidays in June for them so it will be less crowded if you go to attractions and theme parks.

  • What does the "4-24th Sept" in the title mean? I can't find any deals on those dates

  • Where to put the code in order to get the discount ??? Couldn't see it anywhere when checking out.

  • any dates in 2018?

  • The headline says Sep 4-24 is that correct?
    is it for next month?

  • +2

Hey rep. Is it possible to fly into Osaka and fly out of Tokyo?

    • I think it's possible. Multi stop.

  • +1

"The promo code does not apply for the current booking"

    • Having the same issue. Code expired?

  • Arghh….bought tickets 2 weeks ago. Could have saved $400 with this deal.

      • yeah this happened to me as well.

  • hey rep, I can't seem to find any flights around that price from perth > tokyo?

  • Code expired
