  • Xiaomi quality control at that price ?

  • these are good but i guess most the of people prefered the first gen? paying almost $160 more for added mopping function?

    • +1

There is a lot more to this one than just the mopping function.

      • Such as???

        • +1

"Customized Cleaning area as you wish"

You can set the vacuum to attack high throughput areas more often (kitchen etc) as I understand it.

Edit - plus this one supposedly gets navigates rugs better with its extra clearance

  • any chance to put xiaomi mop on a sale? Happy with my 1st gen, it still works brilliantly and I should leave it until the 3rd gen. just needing an automatic mop to pair with it to beat the 2nd gen. well I mean just have to physically mop.

    • i was thinking about 2nd gen..
do you find it's mopping is any good?

I got timper floors, so I'm concerned about leaks and such..

      • +4

It basically just drags a wet microfibre cloth around. In my view, mopping requires use of water with some kind of detergent or cleaning agent and adding, wiping, then removing the liquid from the floor, which these things can't do.

      • if you haven't got the 1st generation then go ahead and buy the 2nd gen. they have improved in many areas from the 1st gen. Just consider the mopping function is a free add on. The automatic mop I was asking is a totally different thing.

        • how's the noise of both gens?

      • I'm getting this for my timber floors. It's obviously not a powerful mop but I imagine it'd be useful if it was used every second day or something, when you're at work or whatever. It'll be effective over time if used often and not for when you actually need to do a heavy clean.

  • Other than the mopping function, is there any advantage for this 2nd gen over 1st gen? Ive got a 1st gen and happy with it, but about to recommend to a friend

    • I found this comparison chart, not sure how accurate it is.
      https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/hAwAAOSwbEJbLKYB/s-l1600.jpg
I am also thinking between 1st gen or 2nd gen.

      • Looks like you can wash and reuse the filters twice

    • +4

It goes over higher barriers and rugs, has better avoidance of low furniture so less likely to get stuck and has marginally stronger suction.

  • I reckon the changes are noticeable between gen 1 and 2. For tech products, almost always go for the latest version!

I am waiting for the ebay 15% deal. Heard its coming in Sept for AUS.

  • +1

Any deals on the 1st gen @shopro.com.au ?

  • Is this a good price?

    • I got it cheaper for about $420 earlier this year

      • Was it AU stock/comes with local warranty like this?

        • yeah, it was from gearbite from their ebay store using the 20% off coupon

EDIT: Actually I bought it for $440, not $420

  • Does the vacuum option ($485) comes with the brushes ?

    • I don't think so. It does comesl with the combo 1 which costs $30 more, so not a good price in my opinion.

  • How much grey import same item?

  • +2

    If anybody could help,
Can this vaccum mop and vaccum without touching a thing or to vaccum need to take the cleaning pad off and then on again to mop.
    Thanks

    • I'm curious about this too

    • +1

Vacuum has a mop attachment which will automatically mops and also vacuum when it is attached to the machine. You can also remove the mop attachment and the machine will just vacuum.

      • Thank for the info,
So if I have the mop attachment on and vaccum the carpet it will automatically mop as well or it is smart enough to detect carpet.

        • +1

it will automatically mop your carpet :)

But it shouldn't be a problem because whenever you want to mop, you will need to refill the water. So if there is no water in the mop attachment, nothing happens.

        • +1

The mop function cant detect hard floor or carpet.

Once it gets on carpet it will start to mop your carpets.

        • @adgnetworks: Only if there is water inside

  • I have the 1st Gen,
can teh second gen be used on carpet - or will the mop function end up getting the carpet all wet

I'm tempted to get a robotic vacuum cleaner just to see if my cats will sit on it. Seriously, I think my house has too much "clutter" for the vacuum cleaner to get a good run.

    • Not good for house with clutter

    • +1

      Depends on the clutter.

If the robot can run over it and get things stuck in its brushes then you need to clear the floor first.

If you have lots of clutter obstacles then it just moves it around as it goes around it.

In my situation i have hard floors and i also have little cleaning rags around the floor to dry any wet droplets and i have to be mindful to pick these up.

      • couches, coffee tables, rugs etc.

  • Will it wreck the tasles on my rugs like gen 1?

  • +1

~$530 on ebay+. (>$480 with 10% discount). Tomorrow's ebayplus deal looks better for members.

Can this go up and down stairs?

    • +2

      Yes and escalators

      • +1

ain't buying unless I know it can use a lift as well ?

  • What's the battery life like? I heard that on robo vacs they generally don't last long and they cost a small fortune to replace.

Any additional warranty one can purchase just in case?

    • One guy build his own battery (bottom last post)
      http://www.robotreviews.com/chat/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20272&m…

    • It runs for about 2.5 hours until it his 20%, then to goes back to the dock.

From the first 4 uses it seems to do about 1 sqm per min, though will depend on your floor layout.

      • Thanks but i meant over the life of the machine how long does the battery seem to last as the warranty is not that great? Anyone used it for at least 2 years and no probs? Cheers

  • I bought this on yesterday's deal for $493.99. :((

  • My first gen just broke down (Roboguy) and he has offered to fix it under warranty.

Make sure you buy with some warranty options.

  • Thanks OP. Just pulled the trigger and bought one for the new house. As the place is two stories, was debating on getting two and having one for each level.

  • Thanks OP! Decided to get this one rather than the first gen due to the slight issues with it on shaggy carpets. Hopefully this one doesn't have an issue with the cliff sensors on dark carpets/rugs, I've read the first gen had this problem and people had to tape the cliff sensors.

  • Thanks OP.
