  • bought one thanks for the tip, also can get back the gst so should be under $3500!!! :)

    • How so?

  • +2

Why this and not OLED? I thought OLED was a must in high end TVs…

    • Ya I was wondering the same. Seems like latest LCD tech with quality local dimming capabilities are almost on par. Although i wonder how they would achieve similar blacks.

    • +1

      75"

    • OLED is not without its flaws.

It doesn’t get anywhere near as bright as LED (Dolby Vision is mastered at 4000nits peak, OLED from memory tend to peak at 500nits), and the nature of OLED means that the pixels get dimmer over time (which, if not uniform, means you have a ghosted image not unlike burn in).

How much this is an issue is both up to debate, and may not be an issue for all but the most picky.

LED is also quite a bit cheaper. $4k for a 75” tv is not doable with OLED at the moment.

      • It is weird hearing this because everything I read about QLED vs OLED etc is that I would be crazy not to go OLED. But if the OLED is ghosting in 3 years time, do I really want that? hmmm.

  • Are Sony TV's (and this one ion particular?) still good for gaming lag? The MS rate looks decent on the specs but it's not always the case in real life!

    • +1

      Check the rtings review.

I have the 930E, which has slightly higher lag for 1080p material than did the 900E (predecessor of 900F), but I have zero issues with it.

Any ripper deals (like this one) for the 65 inch or 55inch?

    • This! Deal on 55" would be awesome

  • Thank TA, bought one.

Now I need to be a tightarse as well.

Have you considered surgery, it's amazing what they can do these days?

      • +1

Not sure if I can afford it now after this purchase.

        • I'm so jealous, only have a 55" 9300d Sony, picture is superb, especially HDR.

          Would love a 75.

        • @Scab:
Meh 55 not with it on 4k

  • Would people say this is $1,500 better than the Hisense 75P7?

    • For me, yes. For you, maybe. It’s depending on how picky you are.

      • How is it better?

        • +2

          Better picture quality.

          • better motion handling
          • deeper blacks
          • better local dimming
          • better upscaling
          • lower input lag (I think, very hard to find reputable testing done on Hisense, they don’t tend to give out review samples)
  • +1

    Waiting for a 65 sale

  • Maybe cos the new z9f is only gonna be 75inch in Australia they wanna get rid of some of the x9000f

    • How much is the z9f gonna be in Aus?

  • Ahhh im going to cancel the new zf9 coming out october is faster and much better viewing angles, i thought it was a LCD tv thought its actually LED

    • How much do you think it is going to cost?

      • +1

dunno maybe im sure it wont be as cheap at $4000

    • +2

      • +2

        Or free delivery :)

  • Really want to buy this TV but I just bought a 65 inch last year…

  • I just ordered the TCL 75C4US 75, with cash rewards and the 10% off I got it for $2100

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/tcl-75-inches189cm-uhd-led-lc…

Looked great in store, also android tv and 75 inch. I'm not a screen junky so all the techs are over my head. Anyone enlighten me what makes the Sony worth almost double?

    • The Sony supposedly has one of the best processing for upscaling lower resolution content.

Also Dolby Vision - not sure what that offers over HDR in general usage.

I also suspect that the TCL is edge lit, rather than using local dimming as the GoodGuys site states N/A for dimming.

      https://www.cnet.com/news/led-local-dimming-explained/

  • I would be happy with 55 inch and compared the X75F with the X90F. The main difference I see is that the X90F has a different processor. Is it really worth the extra $700? And would it be better to get a Sony with Direct LED over other TV's with OLED? Thank you.

    • +2

i had a long think about OLED vs this sony and I'm going to opt for a smaller 65 but OLED LG, for me my current LCD the biggest flaw is the horrible blacks, since I mainly watch at night. So OLED suits my purpose for upgrading better than the size alone of the screen.

  • JB Hifi seem to have dropped to $3996: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/sony/sony-x90f-75-4k-uhd-android-s…

  • Been watching the Ozbargain TV deals for a while now but couldn’t resist this one. Hope I can pick it up tomorrow.

  • All the competitors have dropped their price. With cash reward, this deal is still cheaper.

  • Just wanted to check regarding extended warranty as Sony give a 12 month warranty
I understand consumer law but hard and Its time consuming to fight that the TV should last 3- 5 years if something happened after Sony 12 month warranty expired.
I feel in you bought from a national retailer and took them to fair trading the put pressure on sony to fix the problem
But buying from Sony direct they can stuff you around while
What do people think of buying directly from Sony

    • Don’t forget to use your cc that has 2 years addition extended warranty on purchases.

  • +1

I'm surprised about " USB HDD Recording No " My 2015 Android Bravia can do that

  • Great price for a great TV!

Hi Janey74, I'm also looking to purchase one today, do you mind sharing the receipt? Thanks

  • Picked one up today from JB Hifi in Sydney for $3,600 including delivery. Wasn't planning to buy a TV for another 12 months but I couldn't resist at this amazing price. Thanks to OP.

    • Hi, could you please share the receipt if that's ok? Thanks heaps mate.

      • Of course but not sure how to post a receipt on OB?
I have uploaded it but can’t attach… anyone who can help?

  • Just a heads up Sony back up to $5495 the good guys $5495 prob jerry to back up to $5495

  • Has anyone had this show up as tracked on their cash rewards? Did all the usual things but has not come up on my cash rewards yet?

    • Yep same, closed everything then opened Cash Rewards and launch the Sony site to purchased.

The order did not get tracked at all.

Might try calling Sony to cancel tomorrow and hopefully the other deal is still up.

    • could this be that Sony haven't progressed the order to a stage where CR is notified?

What status is your order showing?

    • No, not yet. Only received Sony email confirming transit/delivery this afternoon, so hopefully cashrewards tracking soon.

    • No tracking so far in cash rewards .. look like I lost that $279 :(

    • Well negotiated!

      • And came with a hn $150 gift card too

  • Can anyone see the tracking on their cash rewards yet…? What are the options to get back missing cash rewards …?

    • CR are getting dodgy recently and refused to pay out for my $3000 HP laptop because I was using the 25% off EoFY coupon code.

      • Why is that dodgy? If the coupon is not listed on CR, HP will not pay us. We can't advertise coupons that are meant for other publishers. Do you really think they will pay commission to two different partners?

    • Thanks TA for sorting this out for me :)

  • +8

Hi all. We've just been made aware that a number of transactions have not been correctly allocated into member accounts from this Sony sale. If you are yet to have the transaction added to your CR account, please PM me your Sony Order ID (AU0073XXXX), your CR email address, and a copy of your Sony invoice (upload to OzB / My Account / Files) and I'll move the transaction into your CR account immediately. Thanks.

Let me say a BIG thanks, TA - appreciate you being so pro-active in looking after us in this matter.
In truth, it was a big purchase and big cashback amount, and the only reason I did not hesitate with the purchase, was because you guys have already proven yourself, as far as looking after members are concerned.
