Only1 Branded VISA $100 Gift Card - $100 @ Woolworths (Save $5.95)

1680

Limit 10 per customer in a transaction.

Very useful to buy with your discounted Woolworths eGift cards which you buy at 5% off at various places (apparently only works in some cases - terminals are being upgraded to stop this)

Alternatively buy these with Amex for no cost, get extra rewards points for spending on Amex and then use the prepaid Mastercard at stores where Amex is not available or has a higher surcharge. Note the number of rewards points you get with Amex vs Mastercard will vary depending on the card/s you have.

This is part of Father's Day deals for 2018.

        • Yeah depends on airline, dates of travel, 1 way or return, class of travel.

A 1 way from FRA to Sydney is around $10000 on first class, cost me 250k points +$200

    Thanks OP
I was able to Price Beat at Officeworks Maribyrnong and got Gift Card each @ $95. Max 10 cards were allowed

    • How long did it take?

      • 10 cards took approx. 5 min as they had to enter the Price Beat info for each card and activate them together.

Can you pay with only1 visa cards? ;)

    • But do they give 3 points per $1 spend at Officeworks?

      • My Amex does

        • Wow! Really! Wonder if it’s the same for the Platinum Edge.

        • @nightelves: Yeah. Only just found out last week

        • @kerfuffle:

Wish you had shared it early. But better late than never I suppose.

      • yeah I've heard if bought/paid in person on the PE it does come through as 3ppd.
        online isn't

        • For Platinum Edge? Time to call around Officeworks.

        • @nightelves: yes on the edge.
I havent tried it myself so cannot confirm

    • Were you getting 3 points per $1 at Officeworks paying with Platinum Edge?

  • Anyone know a good way to rip out the visa card? My hands are getting sore..

    • take plenty of breaks!

    • Was that you that bought 500 Visa 1 giftcard?

      • -1

        Only 500?

    • Just think of your cheaper Sydney property to ease the pain. Mind over matter.

  • Already bought about $7K, still buy some till tomorrow night.

    • wow.I managed to do $4100 so far.

Be careful with these, just noticed some in stack at locally Woolies are 01/2019 expiry rather than 01/2020! Check your cards just incase.

Huh. Just learned about this as a result of your comment:

      Temporarily excluded
A non-reloadable prepaid gift card that uses EFTPOS, Visa or Mastercard or a similar electronic payment system, sold prior to 1 October 2018 will be excluded from complying. From 1 October 2018, these cards must comply with the new laws.

      https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/about-fair-trading/legisl…

Wonder if that's what's driving the promotion - getting rid of "non-compliant" stock…

      • Staff told me they were changing but didn't know details hence the special to get rid of stock

      • -1

        Interesting.

This is also a bit confusing though. So it's under "temporarily excluded", but just above where it elaborates on some of the cards excluded from complying with the new laws it also says "A reloadable card that uses EFTPOS, Visa or Mastercard or a similar electronic payment system". This does not say temporary exclusion…?

        • The way I read it, reloadable cards are excluded but non-reloadable (fixed value) cards like these ones aren't - rather, they're temporarily excluded beyond the July 1 deadline for other gift card types, but will eventually also have to comply (i.e. by 1 October 2018).

  • I can't find any today, went to a couple of places in Melbourne

    • I just got some in Bendigo.
Came down from Sydney to get them ;)

      • Come down further, plenty at corio

        • +1

I'm done, 150x over the week now.

Anyone found a way to combine all these cards together?

  • Did anyone successfully buy only1 giftcard with egiftcard today?

    • Yes, self serve checkouts at certain stores still work

      • How to know which store it will work at without trying?

        • Just keep trying different stores. You have 8 minutes left…

        • @ilubbargains:
          Better run 🤣

        • Just try paying for one, after entering the gift card number, if it asks for pin that means ok. Dont bother going to manned checkouts.

        • @ilubbargains:some stores here open up to midnight.

          @soangry:
          Thank you soangry.
I tried in one store and it did not work.
Not really worth running around too much or $5 gain per card. For me at least.
It looks like Woolworths closed the loophole. Well, it was good while it lasted…

        • @maxi:
I managed to collect almost 100k free krisflyer miles this week, easier as i have near 0 chance of getting referral bonus from amex. Could have done better as there are plenty of cards available in my area and i know where to get them. Bought 179 cards in total, not including wish egift cards, very tiring…

        • @soangry: what can one do with 100k krisyflyers?

        • @Turd: 105k for business class to mainland europe from east coast AU 1 way. or nearly enough for a return business class ticket to HK or somewhere via SIN, 116k

[@soangry] awesome! I only managed half that!

How much time did you spend to save $35?

      • -1

none - i spent perhaps 10min to earn $35, as visa is close to cash - but the question that you should've asked is how many times did i earn/save $35? :)

  • Got Officeworks to price beat it to $95 =D

Thanks to those above who mentioned about this =)

  • All over ladies and gentlemen.

Now that is harder to buy them let's hope this increases the number of deals!

  • Is there any way to use these Only1 Visa cards without having to sign? Is it possible to setup these cards with PIN number?

    • +2

They work online without a signature. Some merchants accept up to a certain value without signing, $30 I think.

      • +1

Not at Woolies; had to sign
