Only1 Branded VISA $100 Gift Card - $100 @ Woolworths (Save $5.95)

1680

Limit 10 per customer in a transaction.

Very useful to buy with your discounted Woolworths eGift cards which you buy at 5% off at various places (apparently only works in some cases - terminals are being upgraded to stop this)

Alternatively buy these with Amex for no cost, get extra rewards points for spending on Amex and then use the prepaid Mastercard at stores where Amex is not available or has a higher surcharge. Note the number of rewards points you get with Amex vs Mastercard will vary depending on the card/s you have.

This is part of Father's Day deals for 2018.

        Have you tried this?
Mine says no pin functionality available..
which sort of limits this to online only :|

        • You can split the payment, when the machine asks account, you select Credit, ask for Pin, just press OK, the transaction will go through and ask you to sign signature. It works at ALDI as well as you may know ALDI does not accept AMEX.

        • +1

That means you press credit and OK. Some POS machines will process the payment straight through, some will require a signature on paper. Been doing it like this no problems.

        • @iSamurai: Ah I see
Pressing credit is fine then? :D

        • @cwongtech: yeah, same as the Australia post gift cards. Only the eftpos cards do you press savings.

        • -1

In the current terms and conditions it mentions these aren't accepted at Woolies or coles on their website.

        • @kendo:
Do you press "OK" as a blank pin..?

        • @cwongtech: yes, you just press ok without PIN but it happened to me before at self-checkout terminal that requires me to sign in the signature pad which is not working.

        • @kendo: hi kendo, can i use this to pay energy australia bill at australia post ? is the company charge fee to pay the bill using this card ? thx

        • @alice in wonderland:

no fee but you will need to sign for each card you used.

        • @LoveBargain15:thanks have you tried to pay energy australia bill ? is this visa only 1 card is credit card ?
On my bill it say : A merchant service fee may apply to credit card payments : master card or visa .
ANY fee applied will be shown on your next bill .
I chat with energy australia but they said not except gift card payments . thx for help

        • @alice in wonderland: Yes, you can use it to pay for energy Australia bill. I have used it to pay for energy aust bill before and it works. The payment was treated as a visa credit card.

        • @Purple:thx for reply . so energy australia charge 0.36 % on your next bill ? when did you pay the bill ? did you pay at australia post branch or pay online at POST BILLPAY ?thx

        • @alice in wonderland: I paid the bill online. I paid $100 in total. They will list the merchant fee on your next statement.

        • @Purple: thanks for reply new to this so not sure how much they charge before i pay . ok i got $400 bill so they will charge 0.36 % x 4 times is this right ? thanks

        • @Purple: thanks a lot

        • @Purple: did australia post charge fee ? or only energy australia charge fee ? thx again

        • @alice in wonderland: Not sure about Australia Post.

        • @Purple: ok thx will check with them before pay .

    • There seems to be no way to consolidate the balance on multiple gift cards. Or to spend > the gift card amount and pay the remainder on another card.

Woolworths/Coles self-checkout. Hit the split payment button, enter the amount, and voila remaining balance used.

For consolidating, you could try buying a 1x$500 card from AusPost with 5 x $100 cards from wollies, but that'll cost you another $5.95. Not sure if the staff will allow it though.

    • +4

You can always split the payment at Woolies. I clean up all Visa Cards with small amount by splitting payment at self check out, just select Split Payment (eGiftcard) and enter the amount you pay, it even works for only $50cent.

      • +2

I once split payment to get rid of 5c in my card, wouldn't be surprised if it take 1c

        • +1

I did at coles last weekend. Did 3x 1 cent payments.

        • +1

@iSamurai: such a waste of power and everything!

        • @wdmhbbbwctcdlbc: I received my UBank replacement debit card because the old one expired. A new requirement to activate the payWave function requires pressing credit and entering the pin.

I couldn’t remember the steps so one went through as savings, the other as credit and the third to confirm using payWave…

TLDR I tried it with my UBank debit card.

      • lol how much is $50cent!
        $50.01? hahah

    • you can use them on paypal for any remaining amount

    • Use it online and pay $1.75 of your power bill?

Plenty of options to use it up.

  • So… the votes say YAY! The comments say NO DEAL!

Ok.. save $5.95.. but that's not worth anything vs using cash. Whereas save 5% was worth something until it stopped.

    • +2

Some people use this as a way to generate points, like myself.

  • +5

I love these, pay my DEFT bills, water bill and council rates.

    Full amex pts earn.

Just hope amex fixes the 3 pts per $1 issue

    • water department n council accepts multi card per payment?

      • +2

        Yes, depends on council

        • i cant get these to work at my local costco… feelsbadman

        • +1

          @squidz:
Costco, you gotta use the EFTPOS gift cards. They take those, the one with PIN numbers.

        • @googoogaga:
Coles prepaid master card also accept there

        • @googoogaga:

You could use one of those Australia Post Load&GO Reloadable VISA cards as they have a PIN number.

      • you can postbillpay it or add to PayPal. Many ways to pay using multiple payments.

        • Doesn't add to paypal have fees?

        • @X200T:
most of the time, paying visa/mastercard/paypal have the same % of fees. Might as well earn 3pts per $

        • @googoogaga:
how do u add it to paypal without the name?

        • +8

          @squidz:
first name GIFT last name CARDHOLDER :D no joke

        • +1

          @X200T:

I've added prepaid VISA gift cards to Paypal before and it works fine. No fees.

        • +1

          @googoogaga:

Tbh credit card payment takes any name. As long as the number, expiry and ccv are matching.

        • @hollykryten:

So technically you can add prepaid giftcards to Paypal and withdraw the money from there?

        • @nightelves: Yes, but dont do this.

        • @Turd:
          BS!

        • @Turd: Paypal will ban you?

    • How do you pay DEFT with these?

    • Isn’t there a credit card fee to pay DEFT?

  • I’m going to buy the 75 Sony with these.

    • Not sure if you can split payment..

  • Can you purchase with the coles mastercard gift card?

    • Why would you?
      Mastercard to Visa..?

      • to extend expiry date

        • but u lose 6 dollars each swaps.. unless u want to gain $4 in flybuy points…
should be able to buy coles MC with it.

coles MC is also having the promo in the same week.

    • Yes because system should just see it as a standard Credit Card but also can't think of a reason you'd want to do this except to extend expiry

    • Use coles mc to buy ww egc at 5% discount first then buy only 1 visa at ww

  • +1

These two coles deals combine is surely better than this woolies one

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/398973

    $90 for $100 gifts card

    • The first one is $100 card and you get $10 worth of flybuys points, but you also have to spend the $5 "purchase fee", so you still spend $95, not $90
The second one targeted and is a $100 card and you get $5 worth of flybuys points, but you also have to spend the $5 "purchase fee", so you still spend $100 for $100.
      Single use per Flybuys card
The above Coles ones you have to spend $105 first of all then get $5-10 back in points to spend in store later (one time only). The Woolworths ones you spend $100 for $100 back and no limit the number of uses (except max. 10 per transaction).

      • Both can be used to buy wollowrths egiftcard online. Get another $5

Small rest amount I normally used to top up my health insurance.

  • Is this a permanent change or just for one day?

    • This is going to be for one week starting this Wednesday

      • Is it a good idea to buy these and then spend them to 0$ and then use them for free trials?

        • Some free trials try to pre-authorize an amount on the card, so that wont always work.

Better to sign up for the free trial, then spend the balance down to $0

        • I always do it.
I also use it for 'trialing' Amazon Kindle, Audible and the like.

They pre-authorized anywhere from a few cents up to max $2 I had. So, make sure to leave $2 in it.

Still better to cancel the said trial to avoid any liability.

Awesome deal, I have 2k of WW I need to convert.
Bought them on Amex via CR before I balanced transfered out to my new Citi (8k all up) Will keep money in mortgage for 15 months. This is the first time I tried this so I will do for more next time.

So now I need to spend 3k on the Citi to get 100,000 points. B4 October 20, Citi are offering 10% on e gift cards via the rewards program. Only WW are any good to me, but don't want to sit on more WW cards.

Ooh Ozbargain you have taught me well! Thanks everyone for this great community!

    • Sell them off at a good discount, more than what we normally get. Many takers.

      • All I can share is the love!

        • Share vs Sell. I am referring to later, mate. You can still share love as much as you want.

        • Turn on pm kelpi3

        • Turn on pm

    • I don't think we have taught you well enough. Those 100k citibank points can convert to 54k velocity points if you wait for a transfer promo, and you could sell those for at least $600. Cashola.

  • Will Wish e-gift card work to buy this one?

    • Very useful to buy with your discounted Woolworths eGift cards which you buy at 5% off at various places (apparently only works in some cases - terminals are being upgraded to stop this)

      • according to previous reports, this has already been stopped for Only1 gc so don't keep your hope up.

        • Not all states or cities ;)

  • Anyone know if these work for Uber ? I dont trust uber, so dont want to use my regular credit card.

  • Great.
    Time to pay all bills.

    • What bills can be paid with these and how?

      • +2

Any bills can pay online, on their website as: Telstra or Optus, Gas bills (Synergy), add to Paypal…

        • Ah ok. I thought there might have been a great new money recycling scheme discovered like paying your credit card bill with these.

        • @meumax: you have many years too late.

        • @Turd: I live in the constant hope such a scheme will come about again. Possibly as the unintended by-product of some as yet uninvented fintech app.

  • Confused:
If you can’t use e-gift card to pay for these and there’s no longer 3pt per dollar using AMEX, is this still a good deal?

    • Yes great deal having to save 5.95

  • Do credit card providers consider these cash equivalent transactions? ie will it count towards minimum spends for bonus points?

    • +1

Yes as they can't tell what you buy from Woolies

      • Have you tried this yourself and confirmed or speculating they can't?

Does make sense, but hoping for 100% confirmation

        • +4

          1000% confirmed

Source - I've been in the game long timr

        • @Turd:

          Cheers

    • You still get 3 x pts buying in-store, before amex fixes the WW egiftcard issue ( or never will ) you don't get the 5% discount when buying egiftcard - then you can use the card at businesses where amex is not accpted , but still get points .. that is what I can think of

      • +3

Points posted after 26th are given 3ppd

        • Great news! I need to top up.

  • Good deal. Not omg amazing.

    I'm not comolaining

  • -2

So, if the e Gift Card still works, I can spend $95 to buy $100 e gift card then I buy this visa Gift Card,
And then I used this gift card to purchase a wwl e gift card valued $105,and then I can spend this105 e Gift Card to buy another visa Gift Card and repeat this process ten times?

If it only works.? (provided you can used this visa card to buy e gift card online AND wwl allows you to validate visa Gift Card by paying wwl e gift card.

    Maybe that's why it's banned?

    • This is called money laundering or cycling of funds, or gaming

      • but in fact we can only buy $100 $200 visa card..

      • +1

Without Googling, tell me your definition of 'money laundering'. Genuinely curious :)
