        You know what they say…

    • +4

i have had no issues with mine after the update

      • +1

        Also haven't had any issues

    • Working here. Looking at the comments, that person is the only one with the issue.

  • Bill Gates is still at it

I got this one not 2 months ago during Amazon prime trial.

The bluetooth range is very poor compared to Beats or other "cheap" ones.

I connect to my lap or mobile in living roo., just go brushing teeth next room , not even 5m and the signal drop every few second. I tested with my beats studio on the back yard and range is kind of 3/4 compare to the Beat. The worst , if there is a car between my phone and me, even only 5m the signal drop every few second. I did everything suggested on Bose website but nothing changed

    • People will neg because you mentioned Beats BUT Beats use the W1 chip, as do AirPods, both products are well received due to their range and battery life. Although I wouldn’t buy Beats products, they have decent wireless headphones, albeit expensive ones.

      • -2

They likely negged as these have been considered among best in class for some time… sounds like a defective unit

        • +1

I would disagree with the statement that they "have been considered among best in class for some time". I bought my headphones a while back and did a shitload of research and my results showed that the Bose had exceptional quality noise cancelling, but that was it. Sound quality was average and worse if using the non-powered audio via cable. Practically no additional features. And if you upgraded the firmware as mentioned above your ran the risk of ruining them with no fix.

My research showed the Sony MDR1000's as the best. I ended up buying the Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2's which are exceptional in every case bar average noise cancelling.

@ahewitt76: you’re totally right. The only thing that Bose offer on these headphones that is worthwhile is the ANC. You’ll get better audio quality from some $30-50 reputable Chinese IEMs, I guarantee it.

    • The range on my set of gen 1's are amazing, sounds like you may have received a dodgy unit.

    • So have you contacted support or asked Amazon to swap them?

Mine goes through 2 walls and a floor.

    • I don't have any range issues with my qc35 2's. I can leave my phone in one room then go two rooms and several metres away with no issues.

Worth keeping in mind that the Sony WH1000XM3 come out in about a week, Bose announced their QC series in September from what we know by previous releases, so there might be a third model announced for the same price this month by Bose as well.

    • XM3 has plastic body I read last time and same price. Feels a little less premium compared to metal body.

  • +2

Just a friendly heads up to people. Sony just released (WH-1000XM3)[https://store.sony.com.au/headphones/WH1000XM3B.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIo5iC8LKZ3QIVAnZgCh1PMwklEAAYASAAEgI83vD_BwE&campaign=1471740417&keyword=mdr1000x&device=m] the previous model (XM2) is regarded as having better ANC and sound quality compared to the Bose. The Bose are regarded as being more comfortable and durable – the earliest model Sony (XM1) had issues wherein the headband would snap over time, although this was rectified in the XM2. The Bose also support being connected to more than one device simultaneously. The Sony’s could, in theory provide this functionality via a firmware update, but none of the models currently do and there has been no announcements mentioning this functionality.

The XM3 has made changes to the cups, and may provide more comfort, additionally, it uses USB-C, whilst the Bose use micro-USB.

    • I'm sure the Sony will be terrible for calls, just like the previous 2 versions.

      • these bose set for calls are great quality

        • I've read and heard otherwise… that the person on the other end hears everything around you amplified, except your voice.

      • Apparently they've attempted to fix it, only time will tell. But hopefully they have.

    • +1

They're both great at what they do. Sound quality improvement over the Bose is only marginal. Those who play the headphone game know they will have to sell and upgrade. I think go for the Bose for resale value alone. Bose's great customer service also helps (they replaced my QC25s for free recently and those were purchased in 2014)

      • I haven’t heard the Sony’s but sound quality is pretty important (to me) when spending this amount of money. Having heard the Bose, the sound quality is really underwhelming, given the price. Comfort and ANC are excellent, however.

        • You won’t get the Sony’s near audiophile quality. To have proper anc, you need to make that trade off

        • +1

@JuliusSeizure: you’re right. These ANC headphones are perfect for travelling, especially on planes, but if you’re in a quiet environment you can get better quality for less.

  • Someone please rip off Bose's QC35 shape. They're just so damn comfortable. It's a sin for these cushy cans to have mediocre sound quality.

    • +1

Xiaomi is the company you want to keep an eye on.

      • Stock price hasn't done too well lately…

  • +3

I'm gonna wait for the newly released Sony MDR-1000XM3.
The sound quality has apparently improved over the M2, even though that was neck to neck or apparently better than bose qc35
NC on the M2 was already very good, but a new chip in the M3 offers 4x noise cancelling performance
They've revised the design to be more comfy, so hopefully as good the qc35 and made the head band more adhered to your head to make it look better.
USB C- 10 mins charging give 5 hours playback and apparently like 30 hours total.
Basically, they've dethroned the QC35 in this model so Bose might actually respond to this hopefully and release a newer better product.
    Competition is good.

  • Wonder if jb will pricematch

    • +1

      With coupon? Doubt it.

      • 😖

        • Guessing JBHI owes you debt?

  • -3

why do they even manufacture silver ones.. they look so uggos

    • Because the goths took all the black ones.

    • +1

Believe it or not there are people with different tastes to yours.

  • +1

    Prize winner colour

  • -1

Holy crap thats expensive for headphones!

    • +4

These are Ozbargain certified, the headphones of choice.

      • OzBargain Certified would be the QC25's running on a pocket full of Eneloop AAA batteries.

    • +6

It is a MUST buy for ozbargainer. That's how we identify each other on public transport;)

    • +1

This brand used to be certified as “Buy Other Sound Equipment” by ozbargainers a few years back.

      • -3

It still is. Bose have good ANC and nothing else.

  • +1

Lost mine last Tuesday between the hotel and the airport. Better get me another pair.

    • +1

      Ouch…

      • Yeah, it certainly hurt. Both the hotel and cab company were contacted within 15 minutes of realising I didn't have them on me and I got the same 'sorry, not here' response.

Missed these but I am tempted on going for a decent pair of IEMs anyway.

  • Such a shame i came in too late. Deal alrEady expired.

  • The QC35 II have issues with the microphone and making phone calls. Specifically the person you're talking to might not be able to hear you clearly. So if that is important to you, then you might want to reconsider buying these. For me it's a minor annoyance as I mainly listen to things and don't use them for phone calls. This issue has been mentioned multiple times on Bose forums but I don't think the issue has been resolved yet.

  • I use the ALDI noise reduction ones for 39.99, while they did a decent job on a long flight, I did find I would have to take a break every hour or so to relieve my hurting ears

I know the Bose ones are better, I have not tried them personally
Would they be worth nine times the price
ie could I expect nine times the comfort and sound improvement

    • I have qc35ii and they are very comfortable. I wear them almost all day at work sitting at my desk, just recently I took them on multiple long haul flights and they haven't caused me any discomfort; by which I mean I don't find that I need to remove them to relieve my ears. I can't compare to the Aldi ones you refer to, but I can compare to Sennheiser HD 201 (the low end budget over ear hesdphones) and these are much more comfortable.
