  • According to the life hacker article, eBay said if you find a lower price they will issue a voucher for the difference + 5%. Is that after or before the discount since the invoice price will be the listing price?

    • There is a fine print "same retailer". I could be wrong.

  • Check out the "sockpuppeting" done in the past

It's done over and over and over again, just like the price jacking. This isn't ozripoff, it's ozbargain.

  • While prices are OK as it, I'm negging because of persistent retailer issues.

You can't hack prices to be close to $120 (Note 9 512GB at $1919) beyond RRP and then say the discount makes it palatable…in this case at preorder I could have had the same device for $1499 with another 10% cashback on top.

  • Say no to jacking

    • but say yes to Jack Daniels Tennesse Whiskey

Remember, Jack Daniels is not a bourbon but a Tennesse Whiskey

  • How can you support something like this?? It's not okay!!

  • Allphones jacked the price up of the Note 9 128GB to $1678 the day before this sale. They then dropped it back down to $1620 when this sale started - still $120 over RRP. Was the artificial price increase and decrease a deliberate effort to negate price jacking accusations?

  • +2

If you can’t wear the reduction in margin by participating in eBay 20% sales you shouldn’t participate at all.

  • +1

Lost another customer due to the seller's price jacking behaviour. Was thinking of replacing my cracked s7.

    Iphone 8 plus on website: $1229 https://www.allphones.com.au/apple-iphone-8-plus-64gb-space-…
    Iphone 8 plus on ebay: $1329 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Au-Stock-Apple-iPhone-8-Plus-64G…
$100 extra to cover the cost of your promotion. This is disgraceful, We can clearly see what you are doing.

  • Could of Bought a new sealed X256Gb for $940 off GT yesterday.

  • Say no to Jackers

  • +1

I must congratulate you, the iPhone X 256gb is the only product actually 20% off RRP..

  • Price jackers…

  • Down Voted as of price jacking

  • Allphones with dodgy price jacking same as mobilcity they own it so they are also dodgy as hell

Customers are not stupid. Don't try to fool professionals

Most down votes I have seen recently.

  • Most probably downvoted to hell.

I don't like price jacking (see my previous posts).

If you need a phone NOW and even with the price jack it still discounts to cheaper than anywhere else, would you still not buy it?

  • OP’s gonna run out of negative votes

  • Ozbargain says no to price jacking!

  • Add one more down vote for price jacking!

  • Is there a cheaper Australian stock S8?

  • Never knew that you can have different RRP than the one from manufacturer, reminds me of Harris scarf scam.

  • They are affectingly inventing RRP v.2.0.

RRP v2.0 =[ (RRP v.1.0 + 50% of ebay discount + ebayPlus potential delivery saving)

New price = RRP v2.0 @ ebay Discount

  • jackprice no.

  • Price jacking

  • -1

    Still a bargain atm

  • Not supporting price jacking…

  • I think this should still feature on the front page as more people will notice.

  • Running for the most neg.?

  • Rep - Huawei Nova 3e RRP is $399 listed on Huawei's AU website. You are selling for $412 -416 before discount. You don't even have black in stock!

And Nova 3i official RRP is only $599. Your listed price is $636. Can you reduce the price to at least the RRP? I will buy.

  • i refuse to buy from any ebay seller selling above RRP.

  • Bought from elsewhere, not gonna support this buisness model

    • where did you buy from and what did you buy?

  • Neg vote for price jack.
Bring back the normal price .

  • Selling above the RRP with a discount is misleading customers. Not fair. Downvoted.

  • Revoked my positive vote after reading all the comments and also comparing the price to RRP. Have bought from this seller but won't buy again till they bring their price in line with RRP on Apple and Samsung sites

  • Misleading, not good.

  • -3

deal has been withdrawn before i was able to purchase.
let me know when you can find an AU stock s8 for $670 please
    idiots - being ozbargainers

  • Indeed, selling above the manufacturer's RRP with an artificially inflated discount is both misleading and undermines a sellers credibility.

  • have they pulled themselves from the sale

    • It looks so. Initially it was supposed to end on the 10/09

  • Say no to price jacking

  • poor marketing form

  • +1

I have to say, I’m a little surprised. This is normal practice from so many retailers. Yet this company got slammed. However when someone like futu online post a deal. Probably the inventors of jacking, it gets positive votes.
I think all businesses should be treated equally if this practice is seen.

    • -2

totally agree. internet heros here. S8 deal that was in this post was cheapest in Australia by far
shouldnt have been negged and mods should of done their job as there were decent deals here and now so many of us have missed out

      • Dont you actually understand what is going on?

        • Mate nothing is going on. Almost every popular seller on Ebay does this. If you think you're making such a big point, go take it up with Ebay. I know you won't get anywhere.

        • +1

          @fuzor:
          What you said

        • @fuzor: Yep, you got it in one! People on here are vile but I do love the bargains!

        • +1

@fuzor: actually Ebay has removed this seller from promotion. Apparently seller can not price jack within seven days prior to promotion, according to Ebay.

        • @Bigboomboom:

Thats real funny. How about jacking during the actual promotion?

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/401377

    • +1

We slam others as well. But Mobileciti have brought it upon themselves by first price jacking and then posting a big "look at me!" post, and then instead of simply saying they do so because ebay takes part of their sale price and so does paypal, they go on to spin bs.

    • +3

Good find. So Ebay are basically happy to turn a blind eye unless they are backed into a corner…

“We have measures in place to ensure sellers aren’t artificially inflating their pricing — specifically to benefit from the sale discount,” she said.

I would suggest ebay needs to re-visit these so called "measures" as they currently appear to be next to useless!

      • +1

Ebay knows this full well. They are the most dodgy party here. If theres any anger, it should be directed at them. They charge high seller fees and pay $0 tax. I'm almost certain they wont pay out the full GST component. If they do, they probably lessen their normal tax

    • Damn. That's a very specific article

      Very interesting

  • +4

Allphones must be regretting now, with newscorp and Lifehacker both having slammed them…

  • +1

There were still a few decent deals despite some levels of price jacking. Unfortunately too late to pick that up so missed out..

  • +3

Allphones made it to the news front Page

    Here is the link

    • I just saw this too and was about to put it up.

  • Let's name and shame the other jackers, we then might see fleabay not offer these so called discounts.
