  • Can you do 70% off the 1 Bedroom Ocean View Apartments?

    • Hi thestig, unfortunately the deal was only available for the 1 Bedroom Apartments (non-ocean view).

  • That was a very good deal but I just couldn't do all the planning needed to make it work for me by the deadline. If there is some way that you can give advance notice of a deal before it becomes live then it would help (me) a lot.

  • FROM $99.

do a search of dates and try to find the actual $99 specials (if any -most likely the "1" $99 was sold). I searched a few dates and they all seem more than $99 if not considerably more.

I'm getting sick of "from $XX" specials where the "from" amount is no where to be seen.

    • Hi altomic, unfortunately the sale ended at 4pm Queensland time today which would be the reason why you can no longer find the special rate.

  • @ swyber, are you doing any more specials on the apartments down in Melbourne? Missed out last time!

    • Hi kirynflare, unfortunately I'm not aware of any Mantra Melbourne sales coming again soon. Although, the really short sales like these are pushed out as quickly as they are planned and the easiest way to hear about them is to like our Facebook page. There we often write about deals that don't ever make it to our email database, like Getaway Hot Deals for example. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mantra/105617329461478

Mantra Mooloolaba is my favourite hotel within a couple of hours of Brisbane. Location, location, location. Adequately equipped kitchen set-ups and the beach right across the road. Best thing is not needing the car again once you check-in. Everything is right there - literally right below the hotel: including full-size Coles supermarket, bottlo, and then the brilliant and reasonably priced Mooloolaba esplanade strip of cafes restaurants and beach shops begins right at this hotel.

This is a good price too. HOWEVER - I wonder if we need to implement a minimum sale time for postings from reps. A sale availability window of less than 3.5 hours is unacceptable when it is posted by a rep. Very dubious sales tactics - they can attract attention to their product or outlet and offer a deal that noone will actually be able to access because they haven't made enough time available.

Happy to withdraw my neg if a single OzBer (with legitimate comment history) posts that they were able to book this deal. If nil result then I think it demonstrates that this rep or his/her company is taking OzB for a ride - and they have done it after being a member of OzB for only 10 days.

On reflection I call on the rep to take restorative action - re-open the deal to OzB'ers with a minimum 24hr purchase window.

      • hi sw, unfortunately i don't have any sort of authority to turn this deal back on - it was a 6 hour deal done in co-ordination with Wotif. The 2 1/2 hour delay in getting this up on OzBargain is regrettable and in the future we'll have Ozbargain down as one of our must-do tasks. I can confirm several transactions from Ozbargain users booking this deal and I'm sorry that you missed this opportunity. I will pass along your question about re-opening the deal and let you know by Monday.

Please give this comment a +ve if you agree that we need to institute some sort of requirement on reps that offers they post must be available for sale for a minimum of 24hrs from the time of posting.

    • I agree that these particular deals are very short and by the time you might find out about them, it's over - I was disappointed when I missed out on a great Melbourne deal last week. We can't affect the sale time of a 6-hour deal, but as a fellow Ozbargain user I would prefer the opportunity to know these deals exist than not at all. The post’s I make here are quite honestly an attempt to share our BEST offers and not to just post every offer Mantra has; otherwise I would think the integrity of a Mantra post on this site would be reduced.

I am disappointed to read that you believe the intent of this post was to be misleading. I did consider these thoughts when originally posting and that's why the title and the first line of the description spells it all out very clearly. There are many posts on this site that are one-off deals not really available to anyone else but the poster and I did not want this post to receive any negative comments because the sale period was not clear enough or wasn't presented up-front.

In my first post I was able to obtain and extra 5% off coupon code just for Ozbargain and I hope you do appreciate what we're trying to add to this site. All reps have to start sometime and posting two great deals in 10 days I hope is appreciated by the majority of users.

      • Rep postings on OzB effectively make OzB just another advertising channel to businesses. This has risks to the OzB community in potentially diluting the nett value of the site to users. It is a risk that must therefore be managed. One effective tool for such management is the declaring of rep status. I've proposed here another possible measure to be considered by the Ozb community as a way to avoid abuse by reps.

I have not indicated that I believe that the intent of this posting was to be 'misleading'. That is clearly not my complaint. I believe the intent to be cynical, disingenuous, and negatively expoiltative of the OzB community and its rules of play as they currently stand.

Please don't try to excuse the downfalls of your products by telling us it is your boss's fault. You represent a company and are therefore the spokesperson for company products and policy - not for your individual opinions. If you are not comfortable with company products or policy then stop representing these within this community. Again disingenuous. Is your company that aweful a place for you to work as a marketer? Are your bosses that intransigent and unreasonable? Might we therefore be wiser as consumers to not to do business with them?

For me the bottom-line here is the facts: you are brand new to OzB; you are posting a deal which knowingly will be available for less than 3.5hrs; and you do so as a rep. All of this is very clearly within the rules of OzB as they stand. And regardless of this I think your business marketing practices stink - and devalue OzB.

  • I don't think he meant any malice. I think he actually thought he was doing us a favour. But the reality is that too many peolple have a very limited time to plan and respond…which is why I missed out - too many logistics to work out in a short time.

I agree that there is more value in providing advance notice of a 6 hour deal (or make it limited number of bookings available if you want.

    SWYBER:
I called up to enquire for dates during both of the holidays and ONLY ONE NIGHT was booked out in all of the dates that i checked on. I'm assuming that the sale was not so successful anyway because of the ease of getting almost any date i wanted during what is supposed to be busy periods. Surely the maths would tell you that the price is good but the marketing of the deal is bad?????

Hi Jug_head, it was a requirement of the offer that there were limited block-out dates applied to the promotion and there was no limitation placed on the number of rooms that were available on this rate - only the 6 hour sale period. In the future, I'll make every effort to ensure the offer is posted early or if thats not possible, exactly at the time when the deal becomes available.
